  1. Okay, so whats up with Ellsworth (sp?) Porter? Time is running out for this kid. Obviously he has heard that another offer may be forthcoming. The kid did his thing with S.E.tEXAS All Stars....in the 17u division.
  2. Today is truly a sad day. My boys end their AAU season today and now I have no basketball to keep me happy. Now I must sit through another season of baseball and football. Football use to be fun until Tony Dorsett retired. But I can't wait until October. It wil be a long-gg .... Wait a minute! October is month after next. Thank God! Miracles do happen
  3. Maybe I read it wrong but I thought he has academic problems trying to enroll in LU-PA ???
  4. Why not go over to the old YMCA on Calder and pick up the boards from there. Will save the tax payers some money
  5. I hope this Coop looks like a (former) basketball player
  6. Maybe after Tommy Griffith from Madison (Houston) who just signed a contarct to play...err study, then play at Oak Hill Academy.
  7. I grew up with a guy whose first name was Shirley. Now thats what I consider serious choices
  8. Hmm? You must be mighty old because Dickie V's dad was my coach in junior and senior high. And I'm "somewhat" old now myself. Dickie is from a newer generation of basketball gurus mixed in with a old school flavor. Thats a rare breed I find nowadays. He's brutally honest about what he thinks about the game because he's been around some of the greatest minds in basketball. But yep, he probably needs someone to put him across their knees and give him an ol'skool spanking ;D
  9. Yep, it's like when you're hungry and you have a taste for a good steak. And all you see on the sude of the road is a McDonalds.
  10. Come on bro....I DO know it all!!! ;D....Please be realistic....The THSCA all star game has gotten WORSE every year!! I GUARANTEE that I can go into just Houston and Dallas and pick 12 kids from the 4A and 5A schools that will put 40 on those "all-stars"...Its not what it used to be, guys...SHAQUILLE O'NEAL played in this game back in 1989. Thats when it used to be a GREAT ALL STAR game...Now its just a bunch of guys that are available at the end of the summer to play. Nothing "all-star" about that at all..No Willie Warren, J'Mison Morgan and say what you want, no J'Covan Brown...Back in the day, there is no way these guys would have missed the "Whataburger All-Star Game" (Thats what it used to be called)...Just calling it like I see it...Dont want to offend anyone...(disclaimer ) I gotta grin and bear it! But Dickie is correct. Fellas, over half of the true summer ballers are playing summer ball all over he country. Therefore, it gives lesser "all stars" a chance to show off their skills.
  11. The kid was in a tough position. He has reached a super star status on the court and wanted new challenges. I really can't blame him. Tough decision to leave your school mates and the people who came along with you. Thats why 1600 SAT's attend Standford and 800 SAT's attend Sam Houston, SFA, etc. ;D
  12. Interesting story. The game has become a business at the amateur level. Kids (sanctioned by parents) with above average skills are trying to get any type of advantage. We're all guilty in some respects. Parents, teachers, coaches, etc. I wish Mason success with his decision. It's a calculated move that could bring him higher recognition in player rankings for his senior year.
  13. Whoa! I may have to go for Oakhill in VA. Off subject, but did you guys hear about the #1 ranked point guard (high school) may opt to go pro in Europe; Brandon Jennings? Fellas, start taking your SAT's at least by your junior year.
  14. The problem with turning "loose" your horses is that you have to wait on the nags to catch up. It just slows your whole system down.
  15. I love ol'school flava! No excuses; just get it done!
  16. Wait a minute! What about the two big kids that played last year? They are presently playing summer ball with Breon,Frank, etc. Have they graduated? If so, I may have wait to hop on the train with Ozen.....sheez! Wheatley! Wheatley! Wheatley!
  17. I might as well jump on the bandwagon early. I've been watching several of their players playing this summer and the high level of competition they are participating in across the country. These guys are going to be very strong this season. The only thing thats going to stop them (if anything)this year is themselves. Reserve your State Tournaments now.
  18. It's truly mind-boggling how Ham-Fann gets ignored unless we (the fans) bring in the mix :
  19. Hey Dickie, my boys are working out at Ozen this summer. he calls them the "Hamshire-Fannett Boys." Hmm! Now maybe you can figure out our history together if you get a piece of the puzzle from him 8)
  20. Well, looking at it on the bright side of things, it gives guys like me the opportunity to still pursue our dreams to one day play professionally. I haven't played the game competitively in over 20 years but my dream may become a reality now.
  21. Oh my God! What super recruiter do they have over there in Seahawk country. He must be a machine. Spewing out local talent to get the program going. What name does this faceless wonder have
  22. It just means the Lamar Cardinals better step up their game if there is a new team in town.
  23. You guys left out Hamshire-Fannett again:(
  24. Okay, so what you are really saying is "Coach English needs to play my son ( err relative?) more this year, right? Be honest!
  25. Dickie, I've been busy this summer but I'm back on the scene for a while. I had to go out of town to learn a certain forum participant is doing his thing in S.E.Texas once again.
