  1. Way to go Cougars 8)
  2. You can't really judge your talent from the 8th grade year to high school success when comparing basketball. Too many variables involved over the 2-3 year difference. Some kids may have peaked in the 8th grade whereas others won't peak until high school.
  3. I need to pass it Jimmy. Maybe then he will say yes. I must have gotten a whiff because UNLV makes sense. ;D
  4. Hey etbu, HF is looking forward to playing you guys as well. We should have a pretty competitive team next year. We have some size and speed coming back the next few years. How about you guys, Huffman always seems to have allot of size, does George Foreman have any kids still playing? I think the last time we played you guys one of his son's was playing. Man, George probably has kids coming out for the next 6 six years
  5. Man, this is too bad. I have some fond memories of Mt. Carmel back in the days. I use to party with the students and I remember I thought it was so different to hang around with kids from middle class families on a social level. 8)
  6. Hahahha! Hey, I got excited to see my old coach considering getting back into what he truly loves. The man has too much knowledge for the game to be sitting at home gardening.
  7. The difference in Memphis is that this school is already considered a big time basketball school. The very good players look at these type of schools. But schools like Lamar find sleepers who develop into good ball players.
  8. I'll let Dickie V comment when he gets back on Monday. It's a great opportunity for the young man.
  9. WhY isn't Hamshire Fannett listed?
  10. Dickie, there is no way in h@#$ you're going to pass this up. He's grooming you son. Take the deal and run with it. Hope it turns out good for you. Just think of us back here in southeast texas.
  11. Me hear a certain retired coach is being groomed to come back. The old man must be tired sitting at home planting seeds. Dickie V, you care to comment and update us on this breaking news.
  12. If Lamar gets a "big man" its going to be a kid who needs to be developed or has some serious attitude problems and the other schools are afraid to sign him.
  13. See, thats what I am talking about right there...WHAT SCOUTING SERVICE has THAT kind of personal access to kids academic records? NONE...They are just guessing..Scouting service...who the heck are they? Who made them the basketball authority? AAU, thats who, because they don't know any better themselves...Makes me sick! > Hmm! Do I detect a little AAU hat'n going on?
  14. One scouting system is predicting Brown will never set foot on campus due to academic problems.
  15. So I keep hearing the kid's grades aren't that good. But with the formula they use to get these kids in college, maybe he will get into UT.
  16. So what neeeds to be done to get Hamshire back on track?
  17. I got it! It was all a ploy to get schools to leave him alone during the recruiting period. UT was in on it too :-X
  18. You might be right, but if they had given Alborn one more year, they probably wouldn't have been able to kill the program. That last year, they were very competitive and just about to turn the corner. You gotta admit LU had a good team that year in colege football
  19. Does Sam Houston still have football? I never see them on television.
  20. Tell you what...All kidding aside...If Calipari COULD take J'Covan, you bet your shorts he WOULD take him....TODAY...He just signed that other big name guard prospect (can't think of his name) so that is no longer an option, but had he not....He would be in P.A. RIGHT NOW!! Brown has been available. Calipari could have signed him last week or the week before. The kid used Kingwood as his unsigned seniors tournament exposure.
  21. I thought the NASCAR Forum was for convo on oil and the economy of gas. 8)
  22. Top 10%...actually chose SHSU over Texas and Houston. Your administration would not have liked the headaches though of having the TT on campus -- probably weren't used to those from the student leaders on campus. I think the SHSU administration and I had a love/hate relationship. My favorite was SHSU's violation of a state law. They told me I was wrong, sent a letter to various figure-heads around the state telling them I was wrong and then, sure enough -- the Chancellor's office brought the hammer down on them putting yours truly in the right. While I did not agree with the law in question, the university was in violation. We had our moments of working together and then had our moments on other sides of the ring. Good times...will cherish those forever -- they capped it with giving me the highest honor for a male student leader as a senior. So, who is coming to SHSU in our trade to give you aries? I can understand not choosing ut, but the Univ. of Houston? C'mon now!
  23. "Left-overs." You're going to get this anyway. You and AbovetheRim stop the dreaming We are the dreamers of the dreams.... ???...nevermind, go lick the wall paper Veruca Salt . I had to google Veruca Salt to figure what you were talking about. Veruca Salt is the spoiled brat from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, so I'm still a little confused by your comment. Ya see coach, Veruca was licking the wall when she licked a snotberry. Wonka told her somthing about dreaming up snotberrys, then he squeezed her tongue out... ??? oh heck, watch the movie coach. I hope you didn't apply for the football coaching position, or we're in trouble.
  24. Hang in there Rimmie. Prayer is power and we are all with you.
  25. There is an unbelievable amount of pressure to perform in these tournaments. The crowd noise and the competition even at the younger ages makes it interesting to watch. The refs can take a beating from the crowd if their calls are not consistent throughout the game.
