Can you say this, will it solve the parking situation for students and fans going to the football game. I wonder how many fans will not show up if they had to park near Cardinal Village. When the stadium is finished, Lamar needs to bring back the PV/Southern game. It was dumb to allow a band to end something good. Sad to say but the attendance would be greater for PV/Southern than the Lamar games.

WAIT...George Mason had a GOOD team..Yes, they are a mid major, but they had SOLID guard play that year, good coaching, and a little luck mixed in with some good fortune! Don't get it confused, George Mason EARNED there way to the Final Four in 2006, and my hats off to them..However, Lamar did NOT win the lowly Southland Conference, yet got hot and won the tournament..OK, Duke may not have won by 75, (I was being extreme) but it would have definitely been a blowout had they played again...bad..Truth is, and I am with Bobby Knight on this one, some teams just dont belong in the NCAA tournament...Lamar 2000 was one of them.. Excellent point! Some Conferences don't belong in the tournament. Southland, SWAC, Southland, Swac, Southland, etc, etc,

What happened to winning and people will come out? I guess you don't believe your own post. Not saying we'll win at first but if BT is playing poker, golf, FT contest he is playing to win. It's been proven over time. I don't expect LU to have a winning season it's first year, but it could happen. If you were born around the time LU had their last season, they had a winning program. I know that I am getting off subject somewhat but I want to cringe when people bring up this game as if LU played Duke a good game. Man, Duke played down in that game. And those of you who are true athletes know what I mean by playing down. When Duke played Kansas (?) after the LU game, their intensity was at a higher level because of the competition. LU would have been blown away if Duke played at a higher mental level.

I have to admit that when I see a story of a Central graduate, I have the tendency to be somewhat in shock that Central produced a productive student. But the problem with this is that the local media has made me a little bias in my thinking. I'm still trying to get the chains from around my neck.

wELL, there is te Southeast Texas Roundball Classic Tournament April 4,5,&6th. It's a 17, 15, 12, & 10U tourney. Art Simpson 409. 782.32.64 I know that Lamar University is one of the sites.

I haven't seen any ads about the tourney in the local gyms.

I dunno, so I am just asking one's opinions. Money? I'm not bragging but Coach Boutte has several State Championship rings and I make more $$$$. If you are wondering why I'm back in school, well, I was diagnosed with a chronic condition that is incurable and I need other options in my career field. Doubt I'll make 20 more years of patient care. Now an assistant job at Lamar wouldn't be the final place for Coach Boutte. Quite different my man. Just the start of a college coaching career. After 3-4 years paying his dues at Lamar he could end up at a mid-major college like Rice for example. Coach Wilson was making $400K a year. You think Coach Boutte might be interested in that? Now, you are talking some serious jack! Lastly, what else does Coach Boutte have to prove at the HS level? Now, I'll ask one. Why wouldn't he? Okay I'm convinced ;D

Maybe we won't have a major football program but it will get 63 additional scholarships to young men. Are they all going to be from SE Texas? No, of course not. Then remember Title IV, you have to have the same number of scholarships for women in proportion to female and male students. Since there are more female students at Lamar then with football coming there with be additional sports for females. Then comes the band. Hopefully, comes more students so there is an increased reimbursement from the state which could be in the range of $10 million or more a year on the academic side of things. It is bigger than just football. Football is the trigger point to more students, more state funding, better school spirit, tradition and so on. If football wasn't an important aspect of student live why are there so many junior colleges have football programs? Why is Lamar among a handful of 4 year schools in the state of Texas without one? ============================== First, I'd love for football to come back to LU. But let me ask some questions: 1) In 1988, did LU have 50 or more scholarship football players? Yes or No 2) Did LU have a band in 1988? Yes or No So, how is 2010 going to be more financially secure than 1988? I don't know but maybe you know.

Okay, I'll agree that the program has gotten better after being down. But the excitement of football is definitely the trigger point.

I remember the last winning season. The coaches were literally running out of the buildings and the campus before the NCAA officials arrived. I still say those were the good ol' days ;D
