  1. See, yall should always go with a winner. SOC! SOC! SOC! Not one Bmt. school in the State playoff. Only 3 High schools and what does this say about your talent in the area? Meet a real team and they falter.
  2. Sounds to me like there are some fishy balls going on here. Does racism still happen in basketball throughout the different levels? Surely not in 2008!
  3. oh okay- yyyy
  4. This is really hard to believe tha the Wheatley community didnot step up and financially support their team. I can almost bet that the word didnot get around to the community. I'm on a mailing list with former Wheatley alums and nothing was mentioned on the list.
  5. Nah! I'm suggesing that the coach was FORCED to suspend the kid based on "suggestions" from higher ups. They tried to reinstate the kid but the "poweres that be" from Austin stepped in and quashed it.
  6. Snook use to be the team back in the day. I always imagined them to be these little under 5feet guys beating the jolly green giants of their day.
  7. Sorry district tie breaker. A certain someone from way on the top according to reliable sources.
  8. I'm with you Diamond-J...strategy on every pitch. I guess you have to know the game to love the game. Even though the strike zone is the same, I would much rather throw to the 8 foot tall guy than the three foot. ;D Baseball= ho-hum. I was an all-star first baseman in Houston as a teenager, so I knew a little about the game. My interest led me to focus more on basketball= exciting, challenging, and more girls came to basketball games............enough said! 1st base! That's where they put the kid who can't play anywhere else. :D Dang Truth, why are you being so mean ??? Hmm, I never looked at it like that. And all this time, I thought I was good as Willie McCovey,Orlando Cepeda, & Robert Clementa (sp?)
  9. G-R-A-D-E-S.....He will not qualify academically for D-1 at graduation...He will have to go to JUCO, and there is nothing wrong with that, if he goes there, handles his business, and moves on...We must stop making kids feel like D-1 is all there is...Go to college (D-1 or D-21, matters not), GRADUATE, and go to work...That should be the emphasis, NOT what schools are LOOKING at him..Because at this point thats all they can do is LOOK, because he is not yet qualified. Excellent! Excellent! Point! We should start a whole new thread on this subject. Too many kids are waiting for the big offers to come their way. You may be a star at one level, but that next jump is life changing. I pity the kid who still thinks all he need to do is play basketball or sports to get over. That went out during my generation. It's not as easy to major in Basketweaving and maintain 12 hours to play ball. Dickie knows

WOW an All-Star player as a teenager--you must really know your stuff--I did not realize that you were an expert----GO BACK AND READ AND YOU WILL FIND THAT IT WAS NOT THE BASEBALL GUYS THAT BROUGHT UP THE SUBJECT ON THIS BOARD--- IT WAS YOU! I never said I as an 'expert." I said I knew "a little" about the game. In other words, I played BOTH sports, therefore being able to compare both based on my own personal experiences. As far as baseball, I was only saying it was a good method to get some sleep.
  11. Exactly! Why was he reinstated during the playoffs? Why did he not play in the playoffs after being reinstated? What factors determined that this young man ws not coming back after being reinstated so he could elgible for "half the season?" Which is a requirement for McDonald All-American....hmm? There were some higher powers who kept this kid out.

  13. Must we? I do know the pillow manufacturers are most happy when baseball season begins. They sell more pillows for spectators to rest their heads as they fall asleep during the game. Yeah cause I can't make it past the 3rd inning and the I wake up in the 9th to see the winner... It is much quicker when you are at the games but TV is brutal Yeah, at least at the games you try and stay awake for fear of a foul ball heading your way Laugh about it being boring if you must but it is not easy----just ask MJ [/quote Okay, here we go with the MJ analogies. Of course it wasn't easy when you have been out of baseball for years. Look, all you do is stand there with a big club and swing it to hit the ball..ho-hum!
  14. I still don't understand how parents get involved in high school sports now, just because "Lil Johnny" isn't playing much. Lil Johnny probably just needs more practice.
  15. Hey, I'm just trying to keep basketball bouncing around and hope this info will help some senior ball player w/o offers to take advantage of this opportunity: Saturday, March 29, 2008 @ University of Mary-Hardin Baylor's Mayborn Campus Center In Belton, TX (wherever this is) Details: Invitational Event Each player will play 3 48-minute games. The event is open for Junior College, Division 2, Division 3 and NAIA coaches 76548) .
  16. who did HJ play first round at state last year Tyler Chappell Hill & they were A LOT tougher than Abilene Wylie was in the finals. Man, it still stings knowing we're not going back to Austin. Good Luck Silsbee. Such is life. Some of still feel the sting even when we reach middle age.

  18. Yep thats it!
  19. I would hope that they are aware of the events coming up in Houston for unsigned seniors to display their talents in front of some coaches. If not, someone may want to get the info to them. Some seniors don't have the luxury of waiting for the phone to ring. You have to create a brand for yourself. This is no knock against Boutte, but you can't expect or assume all coaches know how to market their players or even want to take the time to do it.
  20. I have also heard where teams have travelled to the big tourneys (Vegas, Kingwood, etc) and played in off the road gyms where no college coaches were present. But overall, I think AAU is good for the players, especially on a team such as Ozen. In some systems, kids are not allowed or restrained for whatever reasons to showcase their talents. AAU offers the opportunity to express those talents in more of an open game environment.

  22. Yeah I heard he doesn't care too much for AAU. But thats like a fast train with no brakes on it right now.
  23. I can't touch that one either...Hey DOVE, I see your quote at the bottom, repping WHEATLEY!! :...Boy,I tell you...fairweather fans!! hahahah! I have always been a Purple People Eater. My dad is 95 years old and he attended Wheatley too, but at the old location. You know, home of the mighty Mustangs. Sorry guys, it's kind of an inside homeboy/neighborhood joke with Dickie V.
  24. hahahahahahhahaha!
  25. I was at the gym last night and noticed a lot of Ozen players there. Then it occurred to me why they were so availabale now Hey Dickie, I have a serious question for you. What type of off-season program is Boutee going to do to get them to that next level for the next season? Play in the gym during the summer? Have a travel team? Any thoughts from others are welcome too. NASCAR has me thinking of new topics now
