  1. Good game Ozen! You guys played hard tonight. Nothing to be ashamed of based on tonight's performance. There were plenty of schools wishing they were playing tonight.
  2. Look, it's Friday and most of the die-hard Ozen followers are getting ready to deal with the Houston traffic as they head towards the game tonight. I just wanted to say that I really enjoyed going back and forth with yall for the past month knowing the match-up between #1 ranked in the nation Jack Yates versus Ozen High. I know your Panthers will fight a brilliant fight tonight. But please, I really don't want to hear about the game being too rough, the refs this, the refs that, it was too cold in the arena that's why we missed our shots, oh wait till next year! Well you get my drift. Any loss should be accpeted as a loss and a learning lesson to propel you farther next year.
  3. Unbelievable, an Ozen player saying they have better coaches than Yates. I'm not saying it's not true, but dang, talking about buying into a coach's system.........sheez!
  4. Conspiracy man, theres still no change but thats okay because I'll just listen to whats available.
  5. I sure hope you are rooting for Jack Yates because it's over for Ozen tonight. Ozen vs the Nation tonight baby-yyyy! Every road has got to end somewhere. Ozen, your final stop is Katy, Texas. It will be a long-ggg ride back home. But hey, it will give you extra time to prepare for next year.
  6. That area was losing far too many kids for them to sustain 3-4 high schools. I don't remember all the details but I'm sure Austin, Lincoln and Jefferson were all fighting to keep their schools open.
  7. But you also have to consider that they are not going to change or tear down any of the old schools in Houston. Too-oo much tradition. Yates, Wheatley, B.T.Washington, Bellaire, and (I'm sure there are 1 or two more) aren't going anywhere. Too strong of an alumnus that let that happen. The kids would have a long ride on the bus to get across town, though many of them do it now for various reasons. But with all that said, I'd love to seethose schools back in the 5-A District. No way should they be in 4-A.
  8. If they play their cards (hmm is that a pun?) right, I don't see why PA couldn't become a farm system for the 4 -year campus.
  9. Whoa-a-a! In San Jac's district? San Jac is/was (?) a pro minor league basketball team back in my day. And I'm sure their program has not fallen off too far.
  10. Truly a sixth man on the court
  11. You know, I was in a Houston gym last night and the conversation started on playoffs. I don't keep up with h.s. basketball like I use to I was made aware of what I call the "burb" schools dominating the playoffs. face it, there has been a population shift within the greater Houston area, whereas the inner city schools are not as dominant as they use to be. Which is probably why the Jaycee Tournament has lost it's luster.
  12. See, thats all I wanted to hear! You good in my book again ;D
  13. Sheez! I really have to agree with your statements. There is a wealth of talent in Beaumont and the surrounding areas. I actually brag on the Beaumont talent (gee I hate to admit this to yall southeast texans) whenever I get the chance during AAU tournaments when we compare talent. Hmmm? I'm thinking about erasing this post or editing it before I click "Post." Any given day, you can go over to Melton Y and see the JV talent from Ozen playing.
  14. Your credibility has really spiraled downward in my book if you are trying to talk about Wheatley. Obviously you know nothing of the tradition, the area, nor the rich basketball history surrounding Wheatley High. Through her doors have walked some of the greatest basketball legends in Texas. The legacy still continues today. It doesn't matter if Wheatley has had 6'10" Dwight Jones to little Alvin Brooks, the Wildcats have taken on all challengers, on to this day remain a basketball force that demands respect for their accomplishments. There are not too many schools around today who have the lasting power as the mighty PHYLISS WHEATLEY W-I-L-D-C-A-T-S. The name itself would strike fear into the opposing teams, thereby giving Wheatley a 10-point mental advantage before the game started. We laugh in your face. For you to think a mere size can stop the Wheatley machine. :D
  15. Probably because there is only a handful of Jags with computers
  16. See, thats why I hate Ozen during playoffs only when they play my Houston teams. Yall too arrogant and yall go around thinking you have some sort of a monopoly on th State 4-A title. Reminds me somewhat of the movie, "Hoosiers." Country boys coming out the woods to geta taste of what real basketball is all about. Now get me wrong, yall can play some ball in this area, but you need to stay in your place and respect the big boys.
  17. All I can say is watch for the repeat when Ozen tried to match up with Chris Bosh and his group a few years ago in a State title. The Ozen guards were too slow. Even though it was early in the season, Ozen had the same problems with another quick/athletic team this year and lost. But hey, I'm going to try and not rub it in later on tonight.
  18. WHAT? You're not going to be there? How am I going to collect my "winnings" after the game?? After I heard the Smiley crown was going to be there, I changed my mind. Living in Beaumont these past few years has made value life more
  19. This is not a basketball question... As long as he is eligiable age does not matter.... If UIL lets him play then let him play... I am pretty sure he nor anyone else needs you to remind him of possible past failures... Comend him for doing better now and do not condemn him for past mistakes!!!! It's quite common nowadays for parents to hold their kids back for the maturity factor in sports.
  20. Too bad the Yates/Ozen game isn't on the schedule. But I can wait until you guys post the scores. I already know whose going to win.
  21. I'm a BH dad ( baseball not basketball ) but that is pretty dang funny. LOL. Maybe we can just bury it in the underground salt dome. Excellent & a safe location
  22. They're in 4A because of their numbers. Don't be mad, especially since BISD's attendence zones don't affect you in LC-M or where ever you reside. BTW, WB is over capacity by 800 and Ozen is under capacity by 500 but only 12-15 kids can play on varsity at one time. Explain the 'fairness' in BISD assigning 2 elementary schools in and near the Pear Orchard to Marshall, which is in the West End? Explain that to me. And based on your information, West Brook just by sheer numbers should be further in the playoffs because they have a better selection than Ozen. I guess thats a another positive that Ozen obviously have excellent coaching. Yes, Ozen has the best b-ball coach in the area bar none. It's about time you admit the obvious..... I don't take anything away from Boutee. He is an excellent coach. I only hope he loses to Yates. Thats all!
  23. Well I thought all the 'Frank's' " lived in Pear Orchard. That area is zoned to Ozen. So there.
  24. I think I might take your statements and use them to fire up the team. Thanks HJ Just HOW do you plan on doing that? 8)... In a non-perfect world I would have sent copies over but in a perfect world, I'll just take no action. I was just wondering if Yates knew about the trash talking going on here.
