Dickie, where does your loyalty lie when Jags play Panthers?

I agree about the talent being so spread out across the city of Houston. And I've often wondered why the quality of coaching seems to have not improved. I get to see a lot of basketball all across Texas, mostly from Little Dribblers , YMCA to 17u AAU basketball. I've seen a few high school games and college games. The biggest difference that I have noticed (excluding hs & college), is that these coaches are not teaching the kids basic fundamentals of basketball. Too much dribbling, forced shots, not passing to an open man, not knowing when to give up the pass on the fast break, not knowing WHO to give the ball to in certain situations, etc, etc, bah-hhh! I do have to give it to Boutee, he is a very good old school coach.

My exact sentiments. Which brings up another point. It's sad but many young kids are playing positions that does not require them to use their dribbling skills. But many don't think about the fact that they will be guard material as far as height/size later on in their careers.

She's probably talking about Hawker Heights and the loss to that team. But that Houston Aldine team was a good match for Ozen. But I think Aldine may be 5A. only reason they lost those to games was because jacoby joesph was sick Dear God! I know you answer prayers. Please! Please! Don't allow Ozen to make it to State this year. I can't stand the bragging and boasting that comes with their wins. These people think Ozen have the best basketball in the State. You answered my prayer before. Remember when Chis Bosh tore their azz*&^es up. Sorry God! I got carried away. But you know what II mean. Amen!

I just don't want Ozen to have bragging rights over a Houston school. I can't stand it!

Why did he never play in the NBA? What position was he going play in the NBA? Small Forward? Shooting Guard?

Now thats a good point ST, AND Ozen may be disciplined enough to pull it off. Anything is possible. I saw a team beat Wheatley like that. Even if the other team had a fast break, they wouldn't take it. Each time they would walk the ball down the court .Drove Wheatley stone mad.

BH is in the National Division but that should not stop teams from entering from the American Division. It's all about preparation & getting better.

Well we can' forget about those Dallas teams. I was thinking Yates and Ozen would meet in regionals playoffs. But wouldn't it be funny if Ozen and Yates never met? I mean, Ozen could lose in first round of regional playoffs

So basically teams are fighting for the spoiler position.

Added note to Sneed's bio. He should be receiving his 4-year degree when he comes home this summer. Great kid.

In other words, Yates will peak again when regionals start. It's like meeting a beautiful girl. You peak. Then when she gone back home, it's hard to compare her with the average girls. But you peak again when you see her ???

Dang Dickie, I was going hate to agree with you again ;D But since you did give my (2nd) dad (ooops, yes Dickie I'm your unknown step-bro.) his props, I don't mind agreeing this time. I only listed his position he is playing now, only as a reference point to where he is right now. But so far it's working to his advantage with the older guys. He gets knocked down and shots blocked, but he gets right back up. So when he plays 12u & 10u in Houston, it's no big deal.

I played on a junior high team where all the starters were dunking and we won city championships every year for awhile in Houston. When I was in Jr High we started an 8th grade game with a 2 - 0 lead against Madisonville because we shot Techs for 2 of their players dunking in warm-up. Hmm? Sheez! I hate bringing Vitale into this but he will probably know or have heard the history. E.O. Smith Jr.High was a very DOMINANT TEAM in Houston. Dwight Jones (LA Lakers) Spiderman, Roy Fields, and several more players were on this team. They banned dunking in HISD because of this team.

I wish I'd known this before I hired a personal trainer from out of town for my boys. Oh yeah he does it in Port Arthur and on most days he holds some sessions at Ozen in the summer during open gym. I'd like for my 10 year old (SG, PG)to play more regularly against the older players. Skill wise he can hang with them in the open court, but not if they take him low. But thats how I learned against the older guys.

I wish I'd known this before I hired a personal trainer from out of town for my boys.
