This is amazing 4 a 8th grader to be dunking.. I played on a junior high team where all the starters were dunking and we won city championships every year for awhile in Houston.

Everybody thinks Bosh dominated Perk and that is just not true.. There stats cancelled the other out. Perk had 21 pts, 12 rebs, 5 blocks; and Bosh had 25 pts., 10 rebs, and 7 blocks. But Bosh's plays did look prettier because he was so athletic! The guards won that game for Lincoln and loss it for Ozen! You know, after that loss, I could not get one Ozen fan to agree with me that their guard play was lousy and that being one of the major reasons "they" lost.

Hey-yyyy wait a minute! I'm a HISD product and played for Frankie Brazos and.......... There was always good talent and some very dedicated hard working coaches back in HISD back then. I hope you are wrong about Yates, I'd love to have some bragging rights this year over Ozen. But don't get me wrong, I like Ozen, but yates and Wheatley hold a special place in my heart.

I could be wrong, but I always thought most of the players who sign with Lamar is because none of the big school sare recruiting them.

I remember back when Bosh and company beat Perkins and company. Bosh had quick guards to help him but Perkins just had average guards.

Okay, since it's whole court I have decided to take the guards and play an up tempo game by beating the bigs down the court....hmmm? These bigs can get down the court, though! oKAY, I'll take the bigs and use my height advantage/speed and play with some slow guards. What my slow/average guards do will be over compenated by the bigs and their inside game. Thats my answer.

Tony was too nice! But he was concerned about his players graduating. I think Billy coached back in a time when there were less restrictions on getting players. I don't think he would last at Lamar now.

Lets see, 19+17+16=52 points. So that means the other two starters scored at least 10 points a piece. So 52 + 20=72 points. So if you estimate the Silsbee bench scored the remaining 34 points, thats means we could have beaten Silsbee 38-34 if Silsbee only played their bench against our starters.So, the score doesn't look so bad afterall.

It's sad but sometimes you have to show tough love. I still don't understand how a kid could have that kind of problems in a sport and a dad can't fix the problem. In my day, we were scared to talk back to the coaches. I demand that my kids respect their coaches (even if the coach is wrong:) I saw my junior high coach literally hit a guy in the mouth when the student bucked up to him. Talk about getting respect.

If I was a Dunbar player, I still would not be happy because SOC beat them in the game. Keep the darn title.

Ozen will win (by 15)easily providing they don't play down to th competition. Nederlad has a good team but still a way to go to compete at Ozen's level.

What I can't understand is that ever since HJ won State. All I hear is that some good player is moving there to play ball. It sound as HJ is going to be packed with talents every year from players that not even from there. So that like saying they are cheating in some ways by getting players. It could be true. I've met a few parents who are looking for schools outside of Beaumont ISD to get their kids into a program. HJ has a nice basketball tradition.

You gotta love the "hope" you guys shows for your team. I guess if you don't who else will.

Ken, keep up the good work over there with the Heat. I don't think a lot of parents realize the big difference between playing at the local YMCA and AAU ball. I see you guys are coming to the Blue Chips Tourney in Houston next month. We'll be ready for your guys again.

See, if I was a player at H-F, I would use this thread to inspire me on to victory over H-J. Who knows, this may be H-F's coming out party.

If they start a losing trend it might be sooner tahn expected.

I guess it's the nature of the beast. You have a God-given talent as a young person and people continue to tell you how good you are, sooner or later you start to believe it yourself.

K-2? Thats truly too early to tell if a kid is awesome. I've seen several kids at that age who were awesome but that awesome seems to diminish by the 5-6 th grade because the other kids are now beginning to catch up. To help him maintain his ability and stay ahead of the game, make sure you keep that kid practicing (if he wants to) and working on the fundamentals of the game.
