1.
We'll see. Nederland isn't the only one who has bright looks for the future. Not that it matters much but Vidor's freshman has yet to be beaten since there 7th grade year. Got Montana's cousin, lil brother, Jeff mathews son, and several others to compliment what we already have coming back.
Ask your JV about Nederland.....you'll see...  I can't even give all of the relatives of former Nederland greats including one who has a NFL family member who'll be on Varsity next year. Like I said Neumann is living right.
 2.
The team in all is very good. I would like to now way the sophomore didn't get to battle the senior for the start qb job. We her in the spring he had a big arm and could move will in the pocket but was moved to the defense side?
Wonder even if you are from Nederland???  1 post. Dogggs?  (Maybe from Png?) No controversy in Nederland at QB.  Neumann always makes that call, not the fans. Raines has been outstanding and that job has never been in question. We definintely are NOT QB poor in Nederland the next few years, Thank You. ....to the others.....As for the "QB curse"  PLEASE stop mentioning it, I do hold my breath every week.  Let's finish this out! Go Dogs!
 3.
Ned will definitely be good next year but its hard to believe that they will be as good as this year. Those are some very big shoes to fill in the defense.
Mark it down....Nederland will be the most solid team in 20 4a next season. We will miss those who leave but there are new kids on the block, waiting (quietly and working hard) to show what they have and it will be great.  Both on defense and offense.  Broussard may be the overall best athlete that has come through Nederland in a while.  Player maker (Askew, Yoder) type of player. The kid does everything well.  Receiver, kicker, punter, defense, and don't even talk about his basketball, baseball skills.  Neumann must be living right....Go Dogs!
 4.
Yeah me either. A fresh would have to be incredible since most are only 14 yrs old during football season. Unless he's been redshirted and even than were talking 15. Don't get desperate and move up kids until their ready. It may effect their entire HS career. On another note. I would not say Ned does not cycle PNG Proud. It will be real interesting to see what Neumann and Co does with this years freshman group. The 8th grade looks slim on talent as well. Neumann may just duck out before this group gets up there. if not it may be Neumann's biggest challenge in a long while.
I have been saying for years, Neumann will retire when soph class graduates, class 2015. Next year, I know this hard to believe that the Bulldogs may even be better as an overall team.  They have a great combination of returners and kids moving up. And better than all of that, the kids are team players (keeping the Nederland traditioin).  They will do whatever it takes to win. There are some good athletes who are freshman who may even move up next year, but the talent pool is swimming with lots of "big" fish.
 5.
PNG's best option at QB now is the freshman.  That kid can flat out play and is pretty developed for his age.  I would be shocked if he isn't starting for the next 3 years so get him experience now while you're down. As far as the overall talent, y'all won't be down for long.  Your 8th and 9th grade groups are loaded, despite what anyone says about STJFL (which I am still trying to process and understand how that relates to 4A varsity football.)
P  N  G  d i d n ' t (t h a t' s  D I D  N O T) h a v e the talent pool back when these kids were playing STJFL and guess what, these are most of your same players today on PNG Varsity....they were not competitive then and look at now...... The point is you need key players/play makers that currently do NOT live in PN or G.  You need transfers! Also, defense is huge problem for PNG - IMO the biggest problem PNG is facing. The QB controversy is one that I have said all year - SHOULD NOT BE - Smith should be QB (period).  It is very telling why there are fans calling for his job when he had barely gotten the chance. Do Png fans know how badly this reflects on them? ::) Please, complain, get in your coach's ear and make the fish the QB and come MCM, the game will be one everyone will talk about for decades, really, a fish?    Unless, his dad last name is Manning and has had a professional NFL career, I can hang my hat on this one.

Get ready because it will be a down year in every sport at PNG! You heard here first, Faircloth WILL LEAVE after this season!
Note:  These are a lot of the same football  players that played STJFL a few years back, now playing high school football for PNG. Correct, if I am wrong (which I am not)....PNG for the next several years is football poor because of the current talent pool of football players.  Back in STJFL a few years ago, PNG got whipped by Nederland and other teams to say the least for several years in a row.  I remember a game that was 55-0 and Nederland held back from scoring more, and that was one game of many for PNG. PNG could not stop us defensively and they could not move the ball on us anyway, passing or running. (Faircloth didn't coach those teams and it was terrible for PNG, then, which are a lot of your varsity players today). The best option to improve the football team quickly is to have transfers come in for key positions. (Of course, for academic reasons or relocation).  ;D PNG has many talented athletes but sometimes there is a drought at key positions.  This would make a difference for athletes already there. Most importantly, the defense for PNG is what I have said all year is a big key to PNG improving.  You need to buy a couple of linebackers and size/speed would not hurt either. I do dread MCM and am thinking of  renaming it MCS (Mid-County Sadness).  It will be terrible for PNG to face the Nederland team.  That is not being cocky, it's hoping that PNG faithful understand understand sometimes you just don't have the tools to compete.  This is one of those years for PNG. Hope things improve for PNG.  They have a great tradition. Go Dogs! Also, I do hear good things from STJFL current PNG football teams.  There is hope in a few years for PNG.
A good coach would recognoze his talent and adjust to help them be successful. Running the spread when you do not a spread personel IMO is not good coaching. The problem with the spread is yougive your opponent to many possesions. Then add turnovers and you are looking at some losses. I hope they adjust, MCM could get ugly. I like when the game is competative.
What would you suggest the offense do, run? I don't see a power running game for them either.  I would utilize some athletes on defense currently more on offense, also.  I think QB Smith could be developed to be more of an athletic running QB.  He has nice size and quickness.  They need to mix it up for him.  (Florida Tebow offense - it doesnt have to be pretty, just effective) I agree these are coaching issues and do believe it will be tough for  PNG vs Ned. I never go into that game confident BUT it will get ugly real fast, if PNG doesn't make adjustments. If I were coach(which TG I am not), I would look for stiffening up of the defense for PNG.  There's got to be another kid on the sidelines who is not playing that could come and make defense plays and wants to hit somebody.  I think I'd be challenging every player if I had this team.  Telling the players I have nothing to lose, I'll try anybody in your position if you are not getting the job done.  There needs to be some old fashioned firing lighting on the reservation.
 7. And,  I am going to through this out there...... The mandatory admission to MCM (besides ticket) for NEDERLAND FANS (who endured years of shame at the hands of the NDNs, let's not talk too much about these painful memories but we all know) -have to bring something to make NOISE, or don't come to game!!!!! (I don't care what you bring) -if you DONT stand during fight song, your fellow crowd mates will let you know how disrespectful you are being and remind you to stand for the fight song.  (it's all about respect) Like Mac Brown, says, Come Early,BE LOUD, stay late (let's watch the scoreboard with the final score, for the few seconds it will remain, and remember this sweet victory) Go Dogs!
 8. Bring back the Ball Bearing CANS!!!!! I agree. We need to get it together, like we used to have it ;D (in stands, I am saying)
 9.
Fan participation is a joke at Nederland games. It used to be so loud my ears would be ringing after the game and my throat would be raw For days from yelling. We have been flat for over 10 years. At our games if you yell at all you look obnoxious cause you are probably alone...
I do agree, back in the early 2000's, there were fans.  We had bell ringers, noise makers, barkers, even bubbles (BRing back those bubble guns!!!) Years ago, I would go to work on Monday and couldn't barely talk after Friday night game. Now, I am fine the next morning.  If you yell, everyone around you, turns up their noses.  Where did our school spirit go?  Also, no one stands even for fight song when we score.  There are a few faithful who stand and clap but Please help us, the others around get annoyed.  I will say this PNG has us beat on school spirit and I am ready not to just whip them on the field but let's RE-IGNITE the Bulldogs' Fans NOISE making abiblities!!!!! WE have a lot to be "Yelling" about, so bring back the "Barking" Crew!!!! IT'S TIME 8) 8) 8) 8)

It looks to me as if someone from Vidor did this just to up the rivarly and get their team up. Reasons Nederland did NOT do this: 1)  No rivalry for us, sorry. 2)  We would not use spray paint and sheets.  We have print/sign shops and would use them.  3)  Too little effort.  If we would drive that far to do ugly, we would do it BIG, sorry, Vidor.  Next time, you need to make more effort. 4)  We are the Undefeated Champs (last year).  We don't brag on what we DID, rather what we WILL do.  The only ones this bothers is the ones who lost to us, ummm, let me think.... You honestly can't sit here and say people from Nederland didn't do this because "Too little effort.  If we would drive that far to do ugly, we would do it BIG, sorry, Vidor.  Next time, you need to make more effort." Thanks for the laugh, I hope Vidor smashes Nederland.
Yes, keep HOPING.....that might all you have. GO DOGS

These kids have seen the same offense three years in a row... No surprises in vidor... I am sure angleton had a pretty good run game, pass game and d....big Ned wins this one by a Noel field goal.. plus 28..... I do not know if vidor will get 5 first downs all night..... Sorry PIrates I pick u 2nd or 3rd in 20 4 a...
I agree with the assestment that Vidor is predictable "run," "run," "run," Nederlands strength at Defense is "prevent the run," "prevent the run," "sack the Qb", "sack the Qb"..... With that said, I do believe Vidor will have big plays (maybe some type of trick play that they pull out of their bag of tricks) Special teams will be important for both teams.  Look for onside kicks when least expected. If Nederland offense clicking on all cylinders, Nederland by more than 2 Tds. Vidor will do fine in front of their home crowd and I do believe this will be higher scoring than anyone thinks. Go Dogs!
Just curious did you happen to see what that "prevent the run, prevent the run, sack qb, sack qb" did last night? If I am not mistaken (and I am pretty sure I am not) I believe it was something to the tune of 38 carries for 273 yards which would give an average of 7.18 yards a carry. So "prevent the run" definitely did not happen last night....just saying
No disrespect to Vidor, but they are no Angleton, and I do believe Vidor would agree that they don't have that speed, quickness, etc, etc..... Now, concerning Vidor vs Nederland, I do believe our Defense will be the best match to your offense and the balance will go Nederland's way....Yes, Vidor will have a big play, score, etc, etc......However, too much Nederland Defense and too little time for Vidor to make adjustments during game. Nederland wins this one....of course, this just my prediction on paper and the game will settle it once and for all.  NO matter the outcome, I'll take it without complaining about this or that, like I know some will do. ::)

 16.
Im thinking the Ned vs Vidor matchup in 2 weeks will be for the District Crown. Does Vidor have what it takes to win their 1st Championship?
I do disagree with that. I do believe the winner will be set to make a good run at district title. However, every game for Vidor/Nederland after this, will be a hard fought "Win" Every team in the district is ready to prove that they are better than both Nederland and Vidor.  So on any night, an upset could happen.  Nothing is settled by any means in the first week of district play.
 17. Smokin has mysteriously disappeared.......from this thread. Win or lose, take it like a man...........I sure he's busy doing something else. ::)
 18. I do say Nederland by 2 TDs. Not to be arrogant. I see a hard fought battle.  I think this game will be higher scoring those most think.  I see big plays both sides of the ball for both teams. I think nerves will cost both teams flags early, this is the "battle" in 20 4 A this year. Ned/Vid Fans will be crazy and stands full 8) With all of that said, overall player for player our defense will make the difference.  Washington, Couron big plays on D. Go Dogs!
