my pick this week is Dayton

Rankings are all fine and dandy.....THEY ARE somewhat subjective. It's nice to be "ranked." IMO, the only thing that matters is winning the last game of the playoffs, everything else is losing and who cares if you were #2, then.  The worst thing than NOT winning, is losing. Nederland will work for everything they get, as will many other teams this season.  Game scores don't lie, either and those are the numbers that count. Go Dogs!

[/quote] I agree.  I believe those png fans who bashed AJ ALL week long on this board should come back and apologize for their doubts in his abilities. I do mention players names.  I do this - calling them out for outstanding plays or play on the field.  I have kids who play athletics and are under scrunity and I have told them long ago if we are able to accept the applause, we have to learn how to deal with the naysayers.  Usually, those naysayers are like that because the are jealous and don't have the ability to hurt you any other way. May we all realize that these are kids who: don't receive any payment for their efforts, spend many hours of practice/.conditioning, give all they have on the field of play, hear their critics all too loudly, stay up late doing homework, who battle physical ailments/injuries, ride uncomfortable buses long distances to get that field of play, help out their families/siblings when they are doing all of the above, have worries and concerns about their lives and futures, and never quit just for the satisfaction of getting that opportunity and making the most of it all.

IF we lose to Angleton, we had a "set" to play a top ranked team and you won't hear me complaining no matter what happens. Because I know we will.....well, you'll see firsthand at your reservation. [/quote] I agree.  If whatever you do on offense is effective and the opposing team CAN't Stop it, you usually win. High School teams on average are ok with the run defense.  However, if you can gain 3-4 yds on every play, then you will keep the chains moving.  And of course, you will eventually bust through a hole and run for the big one. A 4 A team last year was successful deep into the playoffs with a run (mostly) attack.  Teams had a difficult time defending them.
