Nederland takes the district title next season again, whether undefeated or not. Next, I would put Livingston Central and leave the 4th spot up for grabs.... I would rank PNG in there only if issues with defense are addressed adequately, which I am not so sure of.  Central is the wildcard, overall, talent will carry that team next season, regardless of coaching.  Central could really have a good season in 2013 if the right moves are made. Vidor will be good but I don't see the football talent coming back to compete for district title; however, Vidor could grab the last playoff spot.  Great coaching and desire will do a lot for this team in 2013. Don't count Ozen out or even LCM.  Lumberton, I believe will still struggle again in 2013.

This is true. Parents know that everyone is not going to get scholarships so you must put your child/athlete in the best light to be successful and what better way than getting your child to a successful, well-known program, esp in state of TEXAS. $$$$ does matter, coaching matters, off-season work matters, individual work ethic and desire matter and of course, a little talent does hurt either. High School Sports is changing quickly and the climate of recruiting.  It's just not winning any more in high school sports but it is about getting to the next level for the athletes.  And help us all, that is a good thing; however, coaches are pinched in by this, and the pressure from communities and the desire to create a championship team. SE Texas is the gutter of high school sports in recruiting.  However, I say this NOT that is true but that after the greater areas of San Antonio, Austin, Dallas, Houston areas are heavily recruited, we really don't factor in high school recruiting.  Yes, there are athletes who stand out or get recognized at scouting events, which parents get those athletes to, for college recruiting.  And It's not a lack of talent in SE Texas, just they way it is in TEXAS, esp football.  WOS gets looks in football recruiting but year in and year out, no too much other schools in this area.  And the great divide is only getting worse as time goes by, and the next generation of parents all KNOW that their child is the NeXt great thing.  There is not an "I" in TEAM but there is an "I" in WINNER and RECRUITED!!!!!

With a heart breaking loss still so fresh. I have to remind myself.....to give thanks. Thanks to the Nederland Bulldogs for another great year.  For so many of these seniors, it has been a treat to watch you play for the past 3 years.....We will forever miss you on Friday nights in Nederland. For those returning next season, we look forward to what you will do in remembering this loss today and building on that experience to be stronger, better and know what you can do. Congrats on 2 undefeated district championships.....Thank you for taking us 4 rounds deep in the playoffs, we all have enjoyed the ride. For now, we are moving on to a different season, but we all know, football season will roll around again and our hopes of the big one will rise again on the backs and hardwork of these young men, that we know as,  THE NEDERLAND BULLDOGS!

[/quote] I can remember listening to games of opponents just for fun, to know what we were going to face.  It makes us better fans and shows how much our community lives, breathes, this thing called football. Being a tight knit community is to our advantage, like I said some of these kids have playing together in sports since 4 year olds.  There is not a high turnover in our community, your kids start here in school and graduate here....these kids are just not teammates, they are brothers.  It matters to the fans, family members, friends and supporters.....it must sound a little crazy to outsiders.......however, sleeping overnight for high school football tickets, or leaving season tickets in a will might also.....This is NEDERLAND and .....
