WOS probably would have been the 4A champs in that district down south. PAM may have all of the talent in the world but they have yet to live up to their potential and hype. Ozen had more talent than nearly every team in their district and couldn't do squat last season. WOS expects to win and does. I can't believe I am defending a foe. This is a Silsbee-WOS thread go start a bigger school thread if people want to beat their "We are big school therefore we are better" chests.

.....and you're crazy to think they can't. Consistently over the past 20 years WOS has been synonymous with winning, district championships, and playoffs. PAM has yet to live up to their hype although talented. WB is definitely turning the corner after several dismal years.

At this point with Kirbyville being predicted to win the district they definitely have a big burden to bear. So if they don't beat WOS, Jasper, or Silsbee are they underacheiving? Ozen will turn things around and be a Cinderella. Dayton should take a step back a bit.

Those 7 on 7 drills has got to help in conditioning if nothing else.

This seems to be the first real year in years that true 2 a days could be held since school starts so late. We'll be into scrimmages before kids hear the first bells.

How many schools still do 2 a days? I know several who only do 1 due to the heat.

Until the champ is beaten they are still the champ. Saying that, WOS currently would have to be considered the better team. Silsbee does have some talent but they are young this year. If anything the Tigers may start slow ,but the Tigers will be a force for the next several years.

I do as well, but I wonder what effects if any it will have on the upcoming fb season. Would certain players be banned from the athletics? Locally when any students (athletes or not) are caught with any illegal substances they are expelled for at least a semester up to a year.

'98 was a great run. I really liked the '93 squad with McGuire and Rhone in the backfield. If Jasper wouldn't have broke Mcguire's leg there is no telling how far that squad could have gotten.

As Cowboy's coach I disliked him, but IF he was a real candidate for LU you have have to love it. It would create an instant national spotlight on a new program. Bring back the wishbone. ;D 8)

Yep, they have to hurry. It will take a minimum of 1 year to recruit. Realistically schools are "working" on kids with 2-3 years left in high school.

To be honest I never was intimidated by KV's defense. It is the trickery that they try to run on offense that can get you. I have never seen a team try so many trick plays.

Those are low level majors. What other "bigger" schools would be interested in playing a new LU team that would also get the fanbase excited?

A little early. The KV-WOS game last year was supposed to be "the" game as well. Preseason though you would have to think it would be big. I like the KV-Jasper game personally. IMO that has become a "badblood" type game over the past 3 years.

Fans would love an ATM or UT but the reality is about the biggest name school they could get in Beaumont might be a Rice, Houston, or SMU. I would bet they'd think North Texas was a coup. I don't want to sound pessimistic but that is the current reality. I'd love for fb to come back but LU has to start somewhere.

Unfortunately LU would have to take a few lumps against a bigger school a couple of times each year for the revenue.
