  1. He was head coach at Kountze around 2000/2001 before "leaving" for CC.
  2. Usually sub varsity including m.s. have the same district schedules/teams. I guess I just do not like the idea of a major overhaul. There are a lot more sports affected than just football when considering major changes.
  3. This is dealing with more than just football right? I can't imagine some of these schools having to drive a few hours on a school night for some sports. I keep thinking of the jv and middle school games.
  4. Luke Williams and Butch Miller were better known as who before their stint in the WWF?
  5. So do we get a 1A, 2A,3A,4A single champion? If so these supposed "smaller therefore deemed weaker :" schools will still get beat come playoff time. So the "better/more talented" team in a bigger district won't make the playoffs and a smaller school will basically take the spot? Am I missing something here? WOS was a small 4A football and still made it, as was Newton when 3A, and Kirbyville in 3A. The supposed small HJ just won state in bball. If your community has the athletes, it has the athletes. We are in an unfortunate area. If many of the schools in this area were out west or up in the panhandle they would be a dominant force. We have a bloodbath in the greater Houston area due to the talent levels. Face value unless I'm not understanding this all here I do not like it. I would wager we would have 2 seperate 3A districts next year under the current system.
  6. hmmmm.......I am going to guess Buna, Kountze, or Woodville having to go back to 3A.
  7. Arkansas has lost a lot of its luster over the past decade. They were once a major force in bball.
  8. If anyone has to question Permian, all that needs to be said is MOJO. People think the immediate era is all there is but back 20 or so years when you thought Texas football you thought Permian.
  9. Obviously you can't read too well. > Nobody said anyone deserves this sort of treatment. Point out where that was even stated. I merely said that for all of the negativety being displayed towards Gillispie by the Aggie fans, it was not viewed the same by most Aggies a few years ago. Loyalty by coaches for the most part is a thing of the past. If the right money is shown, Brown, Stoops, Carroll, etc will pack up their bags and leave.
  10. Looking at Bobcat's list.....has there ever been a time when the northern schools (Jasper, Silsbee)have not been aligned with the western schools? I remember about 10 years ago the UIL placed Jasper and Silsbee with New Caney. That was crazy to expect Jasper to have that far of a drive. Three hours each way on a school night is excessive. I would also think they would keep the district even in terms of members.
  11. First and foremost i'm a fan of all Texas scools, but it looks like the shoe is on the other foot here. I remember a certain current football coach at Aggieland abruptly leaving his previous school without talking to his players as well. I do not remember the negativity displayed towards him by the Aggie faithful at that time. We all know what they say about Karma.
  12. Two greatest games I remember for my Silsbee Tigers....... Silsbee vs Nederland '93 It was a see-saw battle with Silsbee's Jay McGuire getting 424 rushing yards plus a ton in special teams. Silsbee won. Silsbee vs Jasper '89 Jasper came in #2 in the state and left with a loss.
  13. Beaumont Colony begins the Kountze district on hwy 69. Going south from there doesn't leave too much prime commercial land available. Hwy 96 to village creek (Silsbee's district) is almost filled. Unless I have missed a whole area, there is not much for any industry to start. That is not to say they do not have a little room for growth on some of their subdivisions. What is crazy is less than a decade ago all you pretty much had on hwy 69 from Kountze south was a couple gas stations and the Lumberton school.
  14. I would think the Kirbyville kid would be about the most seasoned at this point.
  15. It is a few years away but with the new hospital coming, new restaurants, and housing development on the hwy 96 bypass, Silsbee will start growing as will the Kountze area. Lumberton is running out of land for all of the housing and the growth is headed north. A few weeks back there was a national report that this area was going against the grain in regards to a real estate bust. The Beaumont area was #5-6 on the growth chart.
  16. While we can't really do anything about the location, the Montagne is really one of the best in the SLC. I do wonder about the location of the football stadium however, not much atmosphere there but where else could it be. So if these renovations are to be completed by 2009 you would have to assume football will be announced by next spring. A coaching staff must be selected and a year to recruit must occur to be even remotely be successful. Big time universities are sending letters to juniors in high school.
  17. I remember the old Southwest Championship Wrestling on Saturday mornings. Cowboy Scott Casey "Mr. Piledrive" Bob Sweetan Tully Blanchard ( I remember the footage of Terry Funk pulling his ear off with the claw end of a hammer) as a kid that was crazy Bruiser Broddie Abdullah the Butcher Nikolia Volkoff Rock n Roll Express
  18. At one point this year Kountze had 412 students. That is just 3 shy of the magic number. They have a new middle school being built due to some crowding. Baskeballwise they should hold their own but I'd hate to see them in football versus the Silsbees and WOSs. They already struggle with 1A and 2A schools.
  19. I didn't ask you to "buy it." Silsbee had more talent on the floor last year than this year, but they didn't play well as a team. It is obvious you do not know Silsbee's talent pool and to be honest you shouldn't since you are from HJ. Saying that, Silsbee has some tremendous young athletes coming. The coaches are even excited.
  20. Hopefully they were just talking nonsense. The kid has a lot of potential.
  21. They did well no doubt but now the talent pool is getting better. This thread is about next year. Silsbee was predicted to be on the bubble this year. Everyone had WOS repeating an Austin trip.
  22. Silsbee's run is about to begin. The team has some tremendous athletes that will be sophmores and freshmen. Tall and quick.
  23. Silsbee should take some early lumps with the new group of kids. Silsbee's talent pool is pretty deep the next few years. I would think if there is a down year it would have to be next year with the kids learning their positions.
  24. On another forum they said former Jasper standout Moye may have been involved as well. Where did he get a scholarship?
