CE King did not defeat Dayton. Dayton won 9 to 8.
Oops. Sorry my bad. I was told (obviously told incorrectly ) by a parent at the field that CE King won by one.

WOW an All-Star player as a teenager--you must really know your stuff--I did not realize that you were an expert----GO BACK AND READ AND YOU WILL FIND THAT IT WAS NOT THE BASEBALL GUYS THAT BROUGHT UP THE SUBJECT ON THIS BOARD--- IT WAS YOU!
That's what I was thinking... :
-
There were some schedule changes due to Marshall dropping out. In early action, Coldspring defeated LaMarque and C. E. King defeated Dayton. Barbers Hill and Smiley was rained out after 1/2 inning of of play.
:(

Jake Ponder broken finger in a cast... out appr. 6 weeks.
Jay Burditt had the tip of his finger sliced almost off attempting to bunt. Jay could be back in 3-4 weeks maybe sooner. BH will be fine. Carmona might be the best of the catchers defensively. Garner is solid @ short and Cody Clifton is solid @ second. Ponder's bat will be missed and Burditt's overall athleticism will be missed. BH needs both to back in time to get some work in before the playoffs begin.

Baseball= ho-hum. I was an all-star first baseman in Houston as a teenager, so I knew a little about the game. My interest led me to focus more on basketball= exciting, challenging, and more girls came to basketball games............enough said!It is a common misconception but the size of the batter has nothing to do with the strike zone---it is defined to the size of an average player but it is the same if you are 3 feet tall or 8 feet tall
I'm with you Diamond-J...strategy on every pitch. I guess you have to know the game to love the game.
Even though the strike zone is the same, I would much rather throw to the 8 foot tall guy than the three foot. ;D
I take it you are not left-handed... ;D ;D ;D

I would have thought PNGbaseball would have included Svoboda on his list since he just finished dominating them for 7 innings
BK--Fazio, Celeste
BH-Hales, Thamm, Silva, Kelley
PNG-Harrington......I'm tempted to count Harrington as 2 . ;D
WB- Svoda(?)spelling
Ned.--Bellows, Sampere
Vidor--Hester...before it's done my $$$ is on this kid.
Ozen--Lott
LCM--?????undecided
B. Sterling---Marshall,Marshall,Marshall, Cervanka,Brooks,Mott
B.LEE--Mahan
May have missed a few..SETexas loaded...
Oops..BC..Hicks

That's funny...I was just seeing if we could turn this thread into baseball....Guess it worked. Until now.

Trae Hester(vidor) <-- knocked png out of the playoffs last year
Kane Benoit (png) <-- the winning pitcher against LA barbe
Eric Harrington (png)<-- without a doubt one of the top pitchers in 4a
Kirby Bellow (nederland)<-- the winning pitcher against sulfur i believe
Ross Hales(BH) <-- no questions
That's a nice list. However, PNG was ousted from last years playoffs by Listi and Arnold from Huffman. BH beat Vidor two of three in round 1.

Well said...very nice post.

its probably a typo...any way why are you not willing to play at 11:30? sounds like a lot of fun to me, im sure the kids would enjoy it but i guess a good program like cleveland has better things to do!!
actually its because i dont see the point of playing a game for 15 min. smart a$$
and since you dont get sarcasim let me say it for you...it was....
No doubt..
-
Trae Hester of Vidor is certainly one to watch this year.
-
Barbers Hill
Hunter Silva 3
Ross Hales 2 or 3
Alex Rocha 2
Kendall Thamm 1
Tony Carmona 1
Jake Ponder 1

Didn't think it was a arguement, its was just my opinion in how to pitch in this situtation. I'm thinking you let one (gas) get away inside on a batter and after he gets up off the ground he'll be a little leary on crowding it again especially when he sees the catcher setting up there again.
As a pitcher's dad myself, that's certainly the theory he/we have learned..it's pretty effective.

There is an organization growing like wildfire called PACA (parents against coaches association) these guys can get Sutherland and crew straightned out. In order to join, you have to have at least one year of little dribblers experience, be a parent or remotely related to player and be able to coach from the stands. Join today and make a difference!
I nominate this post for the classics. LMAO.
I'm BH baseball, got rained out , and stumbled upon the basketball forum. Man, did I find did I find a "doozy".
IKNOWTHEGAME....I think not. Anyone bashing the HJ basketball staff and program needs to get out more.....or at least start reading the papers.
-
My picks in order :
1) Rain
2) Barbers Hill
3) PNG
LOL...
Like the username.
-
Sheez! I'm beginning to miss the old Dickey V!
Me too. ;D
-
Great job....Dishon. Keep it up.
-
BH @ PNG has been cancelled.
-
Just got word from a BH player that the game has been cancelled.
-
If rained out game will not be replayed. Would hate for this one not to be played.
I agree COOP, it's a great matchup. Unfortunatley, tonight's game will not very indicative of either squad.
-
For BH, unlikely to see Hales, Thamm, Silva, or Kelley pitch. They all threw complete or very near complete games in the Ewell Jackson tournament over the weekend.....and the BH tournament starts on Thursday. If this one is rained out, I personnaly don't think many from BH would be too heartbroken. ;D
-
Barbers Hill 11 Kempner 10...Final score.
BH goes 4-1 to finish in 3rd place in the Ewell Jackson tournament.
Ross Hales and Hunter Silva named to the All-Tournament team.
-
That is correct, Bellaire 6 Barbers Hill 1
Absolutely no hitting from BH except for the Hales home run. Thamm (0-1) goes the distance for BH. BH is playing the loser of Kempner and Clements @ 4:00.
Two players out for BH 6 weeks!!

We (BH ) appreciate that VOP. Ponder has had a rough season with injuries..no doubt about it. He's a gamer though, I imagine that he will make it back. Fortunately, for the kids' sake, they are both juniors and not seniors.
