  1. Whoever gets hired will be under the gun QUICKLY!

If they don't win it all again this season, the season will be seen as a failure.

    Not much margin for error.

Although the $$$ will be HUGE, so will the pressure to win with kids that are 16 to 18 years old.

I would hate to be the coach if their star player had his girlfriend break up with him on the day of a playoff game and his head just isn't into the game.

These coaches are asked to win with kids that have lives and who knows what these kids have going on around them.

This is not an excuse for losing just a statement of fact.

Whoever gets that job might have a very tight noose around his neck on day 1.

    For sure....

  2. just an opinion, LCM is good and has some talent don't get me wrong.. but i think you all may be overrating them.. they lost their two biggest assets[rowell]&[/hearn]...

again only an opinion, but i think vidor has more talent than LCM.. & i do believe it will be a close race between vidor and PNG with LCM and nederland battling it out for third..

I agree. 22-4AAAA will again be a battle....same as last year.

22-4AAAA.......so that's like 22-8A or -AAAAAAAA??? Wow, they're in a league of their own, really!

    8)

    No, not really.

  3. It was also his first collegiate swing, nice slugfest in Lufkin........

Tell them to keep scoring 12 runs a game..got some pitching coming next year.  ;)

Seriously, from all I've been told... sloppy defense on both sides in this game.

It's got to be pretty neat to hit it out w/ your first swing at the next level.

    Nice job, Rowell.

  4. Yea, Yates is the real Deal!!!

Not so fast, my young Dream Chaser!  Remember, you heard it here first:  DickieV has said all along that Yates is NOT THAT GOOD!  Dickie said Yates would be lucky to get to the regional finals and would not advance out of regionals.  Now, I'm in a quandary.  Do I stick with DickieV, the great Coach and legendary basketball pundit, or do I go with what I see Yates doing.  Me thinks DickieV may have credibility problems on this one.

    LOL.  ;D

  5. Herrington/Carnahan @ PNG

    Fazio/Steinhagen @ Kelly

    All are D1 prospects.

    Statum/Felts will be best in '09 & '10.

Cannot argue that list. With my biased opinion, I'd add :

Ross Hales (p) Jake Ponder ©--BH

Kendall Thamm (p) Jake Ponder ©--BH

Hunter Silva (p) Jake Ponder ©--BH

Jonathan Kelley (p) Jake Ponder (c )--BH

    ;D

there are other teams to talk about in southeast texas than Barbers Hill.

So talk about them.....However, I would like to add my list is legitimate. Those 4 are all are signed to pitch college ball next year and Ponder was 1st team all-district @ third base. 8-9 dingers and a team leader in RBI's as a sophomore...Now he gets to move back to his natural position behind the plate.

    Let's talk Nederland baseball.

#1...I still cannot figure out how you guys missed the playoffs last year.. and I'm serious about that...not trying to be an #$@. You guys are loaded with athletes.

#2..Finally got a chance to see the Bellows(?) kid....if he stays healthy and hungry....he is going to be something else...on the gridiron or diamond.

I'm a BH parent....as a result I tend to talk w/ a bias towards BH. ;) But I think if you check out all my posts, you'll see I'm a fan of high school baseball, whoever it may be. I tend to give credit where credit is due. Maybe we can hook up in the playoffs..if so, dinner is on me.

With that said, Go Eagles  ;D........and Bulldogs. ;)

And if I only get one chance to answer the thread.......Fazio/Steinhagen.

And yes those pitching stats still add up to 36 games.  :)....not counting the tie.

  7. 1.  Mike Rutledge runs Kyle Chapman in Houston.  Very good guy and very good organization.  KC is more of a "lets play games" rather than a teach/train group.

    2.  The Houston Heat is another very good organization run by Phil Cross (although I would suspect we have as many names on our speed dial as does he).  They spread out over many different teams in various age groups.  You want to be on their #1 team or your return on your investment lessens.

Both of these organizations are well run and provide exposure to players wanting to get to the next level.  I also think Clay Hill and the Columbia Angels do a good job over in the Houston area.

And, no...the Banditos stop after age 14.  They are run by Ray Deleon (he's a trip).  They have a lot of success in the younger ages but have also been blessed with extraordinary talent out of the Woodlands.

    I agree. Well said, MIF04.

  8. Bull crap, Bobby Earl Granger.  Quit lying to these children.

The only Granger that I ever heard of was a kid name Jeff, and if I'm not mistaken, he was a pretty good athlete.  If this Granger is a coach at Buna.  Is he a junior high coach?

Jeff Granger from Orangefield was an excellent athlete....football and baseball. Went to A&M.

Now that you stated that, I do remember Jeff Granger.  He started at quarterback for A&M in a few games.  And played baseball for our beloved Aggies; but who is this Bobby Earl Granger.  I have been in Southeast Texas all of my life, and I have never heard of a Bobby Earl Granger.  But if he is a junior high coach for Buna and is around baseball.  He will learn alot from Buna's Head baseball coach.  Coach Terrier.

"Our beloved Aggies". Sorry, Dude. I bleed orange.  ;D

  9. We will be all over them!

Excellent. I do know that Barbers Hill goes against Pasadena Memorial, Lake Charles Barbe, and Westbrook in pool play @ the Houston Christian tournament. Pasadena lost only two players from last year's squad, everyone knows about Barbe, and Westbrook will be very solid this year. Quite an early season test(s). Looks like Houston Christian decided that they've had enough of BH after last year's tourney. ;)

  10. The organization is run by Phil Cross who has numerous coaches such as Jason Greer-Advance Scout St. Louis Cardinals, Phil has a cell phone with speed dials to Rice,Texas,Texas A&M Ole Miss. you name it he knows them, and has developed a great and talented pool of players.

You are right...Phil is connected to everyone. Our experience with the Houston Heat was excellent..My son really enjoyed playing for and working with one of their pitching coaches, Tim Price.  He has quite a few connections as well. Just a super group of guys within the Heat organization.
