3. I went to the link, which has a ESPN salary cruncher. If you enter your annual salary, it will show how many games, innings, srtikeouts, etc. Beckett has to have to make your salary.....I am obviously a peon...one of the little people.  >:(

BH bought out the remaining 18 months of Coach Price's contract for $153,000.  Is HF going to buy-out the remaining 18 months of Walt Mangan's contract?  Or are they hoping he resigns and moves on? Coach Price's wife is a curriculum director at BH and has a law practice in Mont Belvieu!!! When does she have time to sleep???  Will Coach Price move to Hamshire or commute from Mont Belvieu?
Teacher Retirement is based on an "average" of your over all teacher salary. (Not sure of what years or how many, retiement is only a dream to me at this point). If he has taken a cut in pay, the effect should be minimal. Just keep that buy-out money in the bank. Don Price ain't hurtin' for $$$$$$.  ;)
5. Excellent hire for H-F. In my opinion, it was time for a change at Barbers Hill and maybe for Coach Price also. Many BH outsiders seem to think otherwise. Best of luck to Don Price and H-F.
Maybe it was those 165 pitches he threw last game.  ??? ??? Just now saw the earlier post.;
Boy we at BH know all about throwing too much.  We watched Ross Hales throw his arm nearly off his senior year so scouts could see him.  By playoffs he had nothing to offer.  Not a good approach if your playing as a team.
JJ, that's incorrect. Hales threw 75 innings, Thamm 40 innings, and Silva 40 innings. Kelly, etc. threw the remaining. "07 Hales threw 75 innings and Thamm threw 75 innings. Now Hales did not miss a scheduled start in '08 but he was not overthrown. He was throwing w/ a "dead arm" that turns out to be a result of injury. He has since had surgery and I noticed he threw his 1st inning of the year for the Aggies earlier in the week. I do agree, however, that he should have skipped a couple of starts late in the season because of the shape of his arm. That's easier said than done when 20+ scouts are there to watch you. Ultimately, it cost him...........poor kid ended up @ Texas A&M.  ;D ;D ;D

 13.
Leggett only pitched the last inning, he got brought in with runners in scoring postion and no outs.  He was able to record one out before Dayton won on a hit.  I think he should be fine to throw on Thursday, at a max he threw 25 pitches.    That was a big loss, BH must have had 17 hits.  Mitchell had 3, Bonnin had 4, Lyday had 2, Meyers 2, Thompson 2 and a few others had 1.   Still leaving too many runners on base.  Of course Dayton was hitting everything that was thrown in the 7th, hats off to them, they were pounding the ball.    Long not being able to go has hurt, hopefully he will recover and be able to go the 2nd half of district.    I believe we have out hit every team we have played, I know we only gave up 5 hits vs. GP and KWP may have had more hits than us, but that is it. We have to stop LOB.  I think this is going to be a tough game for both sides.
Very good recap.

Maybe this is a situation similar to what Coach Wise has done and he made his intentions clear at the beginning of the season.
I think it has already been established [glow=red,2,300]HOW[/glow] they could not have run the score up (switch hit, throw lefty, kick the ball, walk the players, etc, etc, bah-hhhh!
There is an unwritten ettiquette in every sport.  When you get a big lead, you don't do certain things.  In football, you stop throwing deep and blitzing.  In baseball, you stop stealing bases and taking extra bases.  In basketball, you pull out of the press.   Soccer, work the ball around in the midfield area.  it's different for every sport.   Nobody says Yates should shoot freethrows left-handed,or intentionally travel, just come out of the press.  Throw the ball left handed?  Intentional walks?  Now you are being silly.
Finally somebody who makes sense. To get out intentionally, throw w/ the "wrong" arm, run bases backwards, etc. would be classless and demeaning....I'd rather get my butt kicked than have an opponent do such things.

 19.
I am not saying that 165 is not alot of pitches and that it should be done everyday but you have to look at the pitch count as just a number and somewhat of an indicator on how long a pitcher should stay out there. There is ongoing research that is saying that more players are having arm problems because their arms are not conditioned to throw more than 80 pitches every 7th day. You should look at what I am assuming their coach did. Big good looking kid, not too hot and not too cold, there were no big/long innings that would require him to throw that many pitches in ONE inning (if he did throw 165 that would be about 18 pitches an inning...not bad), and the kid was still very effective. At the first sign of the kid getting tired (ball was up and the next pitch was in the dirt) he came out. Props to the kid...for getting it done...and their coach for letting his big dog hunt (i would not imagine that he would risk a kid's time at the next level since he has been there...just a little bit from what i hear)...Smesney on the other hand would have a high pitch count, remain out there, and this would occur on a daily basis..big difference fellas
respectfully disagree.
 20.

Eagles defeat Pats 7-3 in heated battle By Nathan Hague The Baytown Sun Published March 27, 2010 MONT BELVIEU — The Barbers Hill baseball hosted Goose Creek Memorial in what became a heated battle late. This was no exception, with the host Eagles winning 7-3. “It was a wild one to say the least,” Barbers Hill coach Gil Stalbaum said. “Don’t ask me to explain what happened. I’m as clueless as anybody in the stands.” Despite being thrown out in the top of the sixth inning, Kyle Leggett was the winning pitcher of the night, and is 3-0 on the season. He threw 77 pitches, 48 strikes and three strikeouts and only two walks. The win gives the Eagles a record of 10-7 overall and 2-2 in district 19-4A play. The Patriots now hold a record of 11-6 overall and 2-2 in district. The Eagles had nine hits and seven runs, while the Patriots had five hits and three runs. GCM got on the board in the top of the first inning when Jacob Wilburn’s leadoff hit led to him stealing second base. He advanced to third off a ground ball before Price Jacobs singled him in to give GCM an early 1-0. The Eagles responded when Tyler Lyday’s RBI brought home Ethan Kody Thompson to tie it up 1-1. Two innings later, the Eagles jumped to a 4-1 lead after Brian Meyers’ single allowed Blake Bonnin to score. The top of the sixth inning was when it got heated. Price Jacobs homered to center field to cut the lead to 4-2, and right after that, Leggett’s curve ball hit Jason Savoie, and Leggett was thrown out of the game. Savoie eventually made it home and cut the lead to one run, 4-3. Things stayed heated in the bottom of that same inning. What looked like it might be a double-play for the Patriots, turned out to be one out and one run to give the Eagles a 5-3 lead. “What they said happened was that the runner was tagged with the glove, and not the ball so there wasn’t an out and then they awarded us the run,” Stalbaum said. Designated hitter Brandon Wright was brought home off Jacob Mitchell’s single. The next batter, Ethan Jeffcoat, doubled to left field to bring home Mitchell for the last run of the night.. The Eagles’ next game is slated for a 7 p.m. start as they travel to take on Dayton. The Patriots will host Galena Park at 7 p.m. that same night
Would someone please help this Baytown Sun reporter with his articles!!! Who is Ethan Kody Thompson and Jacob Mitchell? You'd think there might be a little more talk about the ejection with that being one of the biggest calls of the night. If I'm not mistaken isn't the scoreboard over which Jacobs hit the homerun still in left field? How can you be at a game and miss so much? Also, I'm not 100% positive but I believe Leggett is 5 -0 on the season.
They were mentored by one of the Houston Chronicle guys.  :o :o
 21.
I agree and I thought he did toss him at first. He would have been completey justified based on his previous call. It's just too bad he had no idea what he was doing. I have no problem eating a little crow every now and then. Adds a little spice to your life. Thriftee closed at 8 oclock so I could not check their inventory.
I lost your number ( actually cell phone fried and lost my contacts ). I was going to call you last night as I grilled crow burgers and crow sausage on the back patio drinking a few cold ones.  ;) I like your post. Nice to have good natured people who can dish it out and take it all in fun. Some on here can be quite the sensitive type. Pm your # or give me a call if you still have mine.
 22.

Come on now! 3-4 with ol mo swingin to the Goose! That call changed the whole game. BH won. Congrats. See yall in round 2!
I think Leggett being tossed from the game was much worse than the call that went against GCM. We haven't talked about Jacobs hitting a BH batter after Leggett being tossed and him being allowed to remain in the game. Once an umpire sets the standard of tossing a pitcher for hitting a batter it should have been an automatic ejection when Jacobs hit the BH batter. That didn't happen, so your ahead on the calls in my book. Congrats on the big win BH! This one kinda reminds me of last years first round game when the team that had the big bats in the lineup thought they were going to win big and ended up "getting shut down by a sophomore on the mound" as I recall someone saying. ;D ;D
I have to agree. Nothing against Leggett or Jacobs ( from what I've heard neither were intentional) but by tossing Leggett the umpire made a statement and should've tossed Jacobs also.
