1. I kinda thought Nederland would be ranked also. Sometimes it's better to be overlooked. Hard to believe Calallen and Moody are ranked............ ;) Impressive programs.
 2.
I hope that realignment doesn't separate Dayton and BH.  I would like this to develop into a really good rivalry.  Ok, I'm just kidding, I want Dayton to beat BH every year...but I would like close, hard fought games.
at least your honest.  8) 8)
 3. I don't think that have yet.
 4. Angelina Roadrunner home and season opener scheduled for Saturday has been moved back to Sunday. DH against Blinn starts @ 2:00. Starting pitchers for AC     Game # 1 Chase Greening ( Freshman-Lufkin )     Game # 2  John Tatum (soph-Lufkin, McNeese St. signee )
 5. First day of practice and it's raining. Who would've thunk it ?  ;) Where's Koop ? Best of luck to all of our SE TEXAS teams and players as they try to get to the state championship. And for the Seniors out there........enjoy every minute of it for it goes by fast.
 6.
I think Waddell is another of our Orange County boys headed to Angelina.
Correct..Waddell has signed w/ Angelina.
 7.
Im not trying to knock the sundevils in any way.  My point is this.... You can take a kid that doesn't play select ball at all, vs a kid that plays for the sundevils.  If both players are equally talented, BOTH will get a scholarship.  Yes the sundevils provide more opportunities than a kid who doesn't play select ball, but as stated above, if both kids are equally talented, they will both receive scholarships.  Not because they play for the sundevils, but simply because the kid is good.
Not trying to argue but many times that is not how it works. It's all about exposure. Granted the top of line, cream of the crop guys yes but not the others that have less talent. I see it all the time. From experiencing it with my son to seeing it now w/ sons of a couple of friends. Most high school coaches do not have the time to be a "mouthpiece" for their players. They usually teach class and coach football, among many other things. The top select team coaches are very well connected w/ college coaches and even many area scouts. They talk w/ these guys all of the time. I'll admit I'm obviously pro select baseball. Our experience and rewards playing w/ the Houston Heat and some w/ the SE Texas Sundevils ( before injury ) were great and proved to be very valuable. JMO
Bitter much?  An old saying comes to mind, "To each his own."
Bitter??? no reason to be...IMO the first yrs of the Sundevils is what this area needed>>all local boys but as it has been said "We spread our wings">in other words WE left some homeboys, went and recruited out of state players so WE can compete on a larger stage. There are enough of the ones left behind that do get schollarships to fill a roster without the wing spreading and still compete, I along with others would much rather see a 75-80% schollarship rate with ALL local boys rather than 100% with 50% out of the area players. Eagle how many out of state players does Mike Rutledge carry on ANY team and if I'm not mistaken he has a cpl of nationally ranked teams also and has for YEARS. I do commend Chip on what he has done for OUR local boys BUT could care less about the out of the area players
Hey...no argument here regarding Rutledge's Kyle Chapman. Mike has been doing a fantastic job for years.
 10.
The sundevils are absolutely a great organization.  I am not trying to say they aren't.  The fact of the matter is, if a kid is GOOD ENOUGH they will get a scholarship, with or without the sundevils. It just seems to me, that all you hear is the SUNDEVILS got my boy or this boy a scholarship, when in fact it is the kids talent that got them the scholarship.  Oh and by the way, yes most of the sundevil players sign somewhere.  They usually get the best talent around, because everything is FREE. Which usually translates to a high percentage of their players signing somewhere.
I re-read your post and for the most part agree w/ you. However, I think people need to understand it's the exposure you get playing w/ these teams that gets you a scholarship....yes you already have the talent. I do think the better select teams can increase your talent.  There are alot of talented players who don't get a scholarship each year. Unless you are at the very top tier of talent and are only playing high school ball these days, very good chance you may get overlooked. Just my 2 cents.
 11. My biggest problem was going from offseason football practice as a QB and then straight to baseball practice as a ss. I would arrive at bball practice, coaches would watch me sail 5-6 throws into the parking lot before I got my throwing mechanics into baseball mode.  It actually got to be kinda funny as it turned into a very well known ritual that we all enjoyed at practice each day. Those were the days.  ;)

IMO, it's the next tier of talent or late bloomers that the good select teams really help out.
 13. Horns need to take care of business tonight and end their 2-game skid. HOOK EM !
 14. Barbers Hill will have a good one in Daniel Mitchell. After that, you are going to see some new faces.

My son was w/ the Houston Heat for three years. So here goes.........If it wasn't for the Houston Heat, I doubt very seriously my son would have a scholarship....ceratinly not like the one he has. Maybe some parents of these organizations ought to start giving them some props. Not trying to start anything, 643, you and I usually are on the same page.  ;)
I do thank God every day for the Sundevils and Mr. Ferguson! His organization has provided my son with opportunities that my wife and I could have never afforded him.
Very well said. Ferguson's group does a great job.

It would seem that we are in a rebuilding year, but I hear that we have a lot of young talent to build on.
Saw them play this past weekend. You guys will have some growing pains early this year with all the young guys playing. You will need those Sr's (Blayne McDonald and Tyler Lyday especially) to lead by example and pick up the younger players. Grayson Long (soph) is a tall, lanky kid with a lot of upside. Tyler Beasley (fresh) has all the tools and plays with a lot of poise for his age. Preston Townley is built like a 18 yr old. Lots of good looking athletes. Pitching will tell the tale. No matter what people say, there is a big jump from JV to Varsity. My advice, for what it's worth, is to hang on and be patient. Let them get their sea legs.  See y'all March 26th.
Pitching will certainly tell the tale this year for BH. Losing Michael Bounds to another ACL injury isn't a good start.  >:(

Tyrone_CrackHead funny American! Crosby shut you out 28-0 and won district.  You and Bucking Buffalo go crawl back in your holes by train tracks in smelly town and get a life!
I am sure Crosby enjoyed watching Dayton play in the quarterfinals from the stands.
really it just makes us think......We could have won the region if we were DII.  If yall made it that far, and we kicked your a$$.  Heck, we might have won state!!
Wrong again!!!  If you were D2 we would have put y'all out just likwe did in 08.  I know you remember that, and that was one of our less talented teams.  I've said it once and I'll say it again, Crosby is decent at football but not on the same level as Brenham and Dayton.  We play in championships, where Crosby exits in the 2nd round every year.  Come to think of it, I can't think of a sport where y'all are better than Brenham.  Crosby's goal is to make the 2nd round.  Brenham's goal is to win a championship.  Just making the playoffs, only satisfies you so many times, but I guess you can't expect much more than that from Crosby.  If y'all can't do anything with that QB in 2010,  I don't know if y'all ever will.
So let me get this strait......Brenham sqeaks by Dayton by 6 (30-24).... and Crosby rolls them by 28 (28-0 really is was 35. ref made a boo boo on a pick 6) ..... and your conclusion is Crosby would not had a chance at state because we would have played you.....OK....... not very good at reasoning or math are ya!!
I don't have a dog in this fight....just a long time Texas high school football fan. Brenham would have beaten Crosby. You beat Dayton in a turn-over infested monsoon. There I said it. Let the slamming begin.  ;)
