  1. I watched Brenham beat Barbers Hill, 3-2.....the same Barbers Hill team that graduated all of their starting pitchers the year before. I'd be quite shocked if the Cubs run-rule Bellow or Dean.
  2. Svoboda had signed w/ San Jac before the injury.
  3. Win or lose, Rice will be open. They do not host a Super Regional this year. Win and they will go to Baton Rouge. Brazoswood/Pearland are playing at U of H on Thursday and Saturday. Well why weren't you here earlier? Save me a lot of trouble. LOL...My bad. Best of luck to your Dawgs. I watched Brenham beat Barbers Hill 3-2 in the one game series. Do not pitch or hit it to the ss. Kid is a beast...U of Arkansas verbal already as a soph. Brenham made 4 errors on defense. I'm leaning towards Nederland in two games.

  5. I think I agree w/ you Spinks on this one. I've never understood the shaking of hands w/ someone who just beat you. You do not see this in MLB....winning players just shake their teamates hands. I do think the league will fine him though.
  6. Texas High is very loaded. I wouldn't overlook them...quite possibly the best pitching staff of the remaining teams.
  7. I agree...even w/ the no-hitter going. BTW, he threw 30 pitches the night before. GO HORNS !
  8. Now that's funny stuff right there. Well done. ;D
  9. How goes it Cubfan ? Hey, do not forget Houston Waltrip........it ain't over yet. ;D I'm going to call you for an update tonight. Best of luck. P.S. Is it time to call it a day yet ??? ??? It's weekend-thirty ;D
  10. I do believe that is the dumbest post I've ever seen on SETXsports. You are without a doubt clueless. After the HR gestures, he would've only seen one more pitch the next at bat from the pitchers I know and/or have coached. As another poster stated, let your actions and abilities speak for you. Your derogatory comment about juco shows just how little you know. BTW, take an English class.
  11. Brenham usually starts 5 juniors and 4 sophs. Amazingly, the Houston Waltrip team is as young or even younger.
  12. No doubt....the "Roy" thing was the last straw for me.
  13. I believe the name is Dean's. Great steaks and inexpensively priced. On weekend nights, get there early or there will be a wait.
  14. ......I dont think kirbyville has any help (the coaches dont help getting to the next level except in football and favorites..) getting to the next level... ANY player that has ANY potential should not wait on ANYONE to promote them, you have to go get it, IMO its like a woman trying to get preg.....IF she don't expose herself its NOT gonna happen, with the internet today a player can findout most anything concerning tryouts, camps, ect.....IF you wait till your senior yr.>> you're LATE<< 643, you are exactly right. Love the analogy ;D
  15. Man, that is great stuff. Best of luck to both of these fine young men. Very bright futures ahead.
  16. No new news there. With that said, how do district co-MVPS come from the 3rd and 4th place teams.....I can't speak for Kingwood Park ( didn't follow them that closely ) but BH pitcher and left-fielder certainly should've been considered. Makes no sense to me.....but what do I know.
  17. Elhert's numbers were good in the win/loss column this year....5-1. However, his ERA for the season was 5.96 and opponents batted .321 against him. Most of his innings were non-conference.
  18. Thanks cubfan12. It was one of those games that you hated to see either team lose. You guys have a very solid team. It will be a very good series with LCM who is very solid as well. I may have to drive up and catch a game or 2 myself. Your fans were a class act after the game as stated on another post by Mustang32. It almost seemed like they were a little bit disappointed by the way the game ended as well. Not the outcome, just how it happened. I know a win is a win, but a real high school baseball fan hates an ending like that. I feel for our 3rd baseman as well. Not an ending you'd want for anyone's high school career. By the way, I agree, I'll always hate one game playoffs! Excellent post. I couldn't agree more.
  19. What a great basketball player, great musician, and and even better human being. May he rest in peace.
  20. #1 BH-Staubaum - 300 wins GCM- Rupp - 600 wins in baseball coaching career Crosby- Thompson- 3rd or 4th year as a head coach C E King- Gates - 2nd year as a head coach KP- Thames- not sure, but his young teams have made the playoffs their first two yrs in existence Dayton- not sure of the coach, I think it's his first year at Dayton GP- ? NF- ? So I am not sure about the edge in coaching. #2 I really feel that the Golden Triangle has a better developed youth baseball program. (Not too sure about baseball being #1 sport in any area of Texas.) In Baytown alone, we have 4 separate Little Leagues: North, Central, West and East. This does not include Highlands Little League that now feeds only GCM. I agree totally about GT having the better developed youth program. I also believe that some of it has to due w/ school size and employment. The GT area has lost employment the last few years at many of the chemical plants. As a result the schools have not grown in recent years...for the most part. On the other hand, BH is one of the fastest growing school districts in the state. Two schools in 19-4A are new (KP and GC) another result of growing population and more kids that will try out for sports. Huffman did drop to 3A...mostly a result of the Atasociata (? ) school opening. Huffman will move back up quickly. Over time the growing school districts will show an increase in athletic performance simply by having more kids to choose from. BTW, Gil Staubam @ BH has just over 400 wins. 100 more reasons it's not the coaching. Totally agree with the growth in the areas. I have been amazed that the GT area schools have been able to stay in 4A for so long. I really feel that GCCISD made a HUGE mistake in building a 3rd high school. It has only watered down our athletics. RSS has done well in a 6 team district, but they will feel the pain in about 2 yrs or so. REL will more than likely move down to 4A in 2010 and GCM will move to 5A. Hey Ranger83....are you going to catch any playoff game tonight ? Nope. My daughter has a Jr High Band Concert. So I'll be sitting inside, listening to the soothing melodies of the Highlands Eagle Band. ;D Good stuff. Enjoy.
