  1. I think this is a great topic. If Football is king then the # of football guys should outweigh the rest significantly.
  2. Football is king I admit. If it wasn’t for the Tax payer these multimillion dollar stadium’s would not exist, these huge salaries would not exist. If everyone will vote for the school voucher program this would put a stop to a lot of the excessive spending, because when the 75% find greener pastures the 25% will be wondering what happened.
  3. Less than 25% of the kids in High School play Football, so according to your logic, we force the remaining 75% to do something that hinders their development, Basketball, Baseball, Softball, Golf, Tennis, Swimming all of which have very different needs. Makes sense to me lol.
  4. Great post . This is from someone who understands.
  5. My Bad again if the kid is not playing at the next level it does not matter, so by all means lift multiple times a day.
  6. Yes, But it should be tailored to the individual sport the kid is going to play at the next level.
  7. As do I , and it depends on the situation.
  8. This applies to mainly pitchers, once you get to a certain pitch count or innings thrown they will shut you down. In the Juco level and below for the most part they don’t care.
  9. How many in our area is going to play multiple D1 sports. The last I remember is the Dallas kid from WOS and didn’t he eventually choose 1 over the other.
  10. My Bad, you are correct there are many at the High School level.
  11. Yes they do but how many play both sports at the college level. Most coaches push 1 or the other because it takes away from both. I would say it is rare for athletes to play multiple sports past High School, not impossible. If you have a Heart problem you see a specialist not your local MD.
  12. You and I agree completely, I was also told to never let a child play in any contact sport until Junior High. To many children are injured due to growth plate issues and it prevents them from playing at the high school level. He also suggested that kids specialize in the sport that suits their genetic makeup. There are no more 2 sports stars. The old saying if you are a jack of all trades then you are a master of none is true. If you don’t plan on playing after high school yes by all means play all sports. You are expendable and can be used.
  13. What makes this silly. I have a cousin that is a retired D1 head coach that played professionally and coached in the NFL Europe league that will tell you same.
  14. Until the kids they are recruiting are taken out because of injuries.
  15. Agreed, take away the tax dollars and Jasper’s problem and many more just like them are solved.
  16. Yes an international shift to show the different avenues that can be taken to promote a good athletic and academic standards for all. Either that or monetary penalties be given if academic or athletic standards are not met.Years ago Every time a school lost a student it cost the school $9- 10 k per student. that is what the state paid for each student enrolled. Yes competition is good for all even schools.
  17. With that being said and I agree with everything you say. The only recourse some will have is to vote for the school voucher program. This will make it easier for parents to move their children to schools that best suit the interests of their children both academically and athletically.
  18. This is why I would never make the head football coach the athletic director at a small school. They have a 1 tract mind when it comes to the athletic program as a whole. Jasper is not the only school going through this . Keep in mind they have arguably the best athletes in the state and cannot win in the other sports. A true athlete is good no matter what sport he or she plays. If they have a true athletic program they will all be successful.
  19. Ha ha yall don’t want me to get off the board. No one from Kelly has recruited anyone for anything. I only know off their coach we received lessons from him, and the kids I speak of play Football, Softball and Baseball. Their parents have asked my opinion of what it takes to play at the next level and what they could do to help make it a reality, I help everyone as best as I can to guide them in the right direction. Not everyone likes what I have to say and that’s fine . Every one is responsible for their own kids development, I have put in 25 years and thousands of hours it seems with my own and others as of now 8 kids have went on to the next level from 4 different schools. But being a liar and idiot what do I know.
  20. 1 last reply and I am done. Do you remember the 3rd game of the malakov series. The game ended with an error that cost us the game. That is not what cost us the game , the decision not to use our ace who had 20 something pitches left is what actually cost us the game. As in Huntington the starter had 20 pitches left. Again decisions ultimately cost us again. I would expect you to know this but I guess not. There are no kids capable of playing perfect baseball all the time. Coaching decisions play a larger role than you think. By the way I’m not the ones calling the school board. I am done. So you are correct I don’t care and I have been biting my tongue all year. I do have 4 friends with kids that have D1 aspirations that will be a bigger pain in the neck than me. I have been relatively civil.
  21. Just look at the topic . You picked a fight with me . I will give my opinion you can like it or not. I have bigger things to worry about than what is going at the school.
  22. Look up the term credulous. There is more going on than meets the eye. Did the umpire not send the first baseman’s mitt back, was it not a huge embarrassment for the entire team. Did many school board members not get a call. You know yourself there are problems, keep your head in the sand. You are part of the problem.
  23. Umpires would not let them continue the game without a mitt, even tried to use the 1st base mitt. He would not allow that . Pollock would not allow theirs to be used. They were told they could not continue with the mitt. If they could not repair it game was over.
  24. On the bright side it would have been cool to be the first school in the State if not the Nation to shut a team out 4 to 0 and forfeit due to a lack of funds or incompetence.
  25. Will Woodville school Board do away with all athletic programs except Football? I hope so. All the funds have ceased already. It is better to do away with them than continue as is. Next year the parents will need to bus their kids to and from games and split the umpires fees at the gate. Parents will need to hold fund raisers at the front door of Walmart if they want to continue playing.
