  1. You need to be proud of him, and redo the whole post in caps!!!
  2. We know that the coach cannot vote for his own players. He does nominate them and has an opportunity to "sell" them. Only the coaches there know what happened. And, I can assure you all of Warren's problems was not coaching. One year is not enough time for any newly hired coach to prove theirself.
  3. I graduated from a private school and this is GOOD NEWS. But we need to keep an eye on this issue. Private schools have no business in the UIL. I suspect the "church school" that is pushing this will now use the court system. And from what I have seen lately out of federal court they will have a good chance of success.
  4. I am sure there are folks from most schools that feel some should have made it that didn't. Maybe, this is the only place some Warren folks can let their frustrations out. The Warren baseball program has been hurting for a number of years. They have an excellent Little League program that has been quite successful but that seem to be where it stops. The last year the juniors played Little League they went undefeated in the Woodville league. Only three of those kids are now playing. Woodville on the other hand has produced nothing but winners at the high school level. As I stated previously, the District list (as far as Warren in concerned) is a symptom of a much larger problem.
  5. Obviously there are some serious issues within the Warren program. The District list is just a symptom. They will be getting a new coach again next year, thats like four in the last four years. NOT a way to build a program. Congrads to the freshmen that made the list. There were some overlooked and the coach has some blame for that. OH YEA Keep it going Buna, can't wait to see the Woodville-Buna game.
  6. Great coach and personality. We wish him the best of luck. He will do a great job.
  7. We had a HOOVER.
  8. Great decision. I wish him much success. I am sure he will do well. Saratoga to College Station that's a long long trip.
  9. Tough choices for a young man to make. From what I've seen of him he will make the right one for him. For me, I'd play tiddley-winks for a chance to attend A&M.
  10. Very nice post. Been their twice and with my "baby" a junior I am just sick thinking about next year. And I'll tell you, HS sports are much more special than college sports. My advice is to enjoy your childs HS experience and do not push them to a point they don't enjoy it. The intensity and competition in college is tough.
  11. Most will know Travis Swanson soon enough. Teams will end up running away from him. He is big, fast, strong, smart and has NFL blood in his veins. And a great young man with good work ethics.
  12. Travis Swanson from Warren. Playes both ways, very strong, quick and comes from NFL stock.
  13. You guy's are killing me. Silsbee and HJ have and will continue to have great teams. Silsbee is loading with athletes and HJ has one of the premier programs in the state. They will be at war till "the cows come home", and as a basketball fan I love it. But please let's keep it civil (for the guys from Rio Lindo, that mean not to get too mean and ugly).
  14. I think whsalm's point is the quality of coach has more effect on a program than the numbers. He has a point, however, I believe the changing from AA to AAA and back, has a negative affect as well. The disparity in numbers can be dealt with if you know who you are going to be playing year in and year out. But coaching and UIL alignment has a direct and immediate impact.
  15. Yes, scholarships can be available for by a school. What happens most of the time is someone who can afford it pays the tuition. There are really no rules. As others have said it all about money. And that is what really bothers me, we do not need that in the public school system. It should be very simple if a public school wants to play UIL then they should be forced to abide by all UIL rules. I can assue you that that will not happen. BAD BAD LAW!!
  16. I graduated from a private school and feel that this will be a bad law. Recruiting will be a large issue. My daughter was recruited by a private school and the tuition was to be covered. She chose not to go (didn't want to leave her friends). I can see real problems. The majority of private school parents are most likely opposed to this law, they do not trust TEA and UIL to stay out of their business. If the government gets involved with private education and athletics the private schools will have to make compromises and that will delute what they are trying to accomplish.
  17. Warren will be playing in Kountze, Jasper, Woodville and possibly Lufkin
  18. Tyler Word and Scott Carnley from Warren lost this morning. Congrads boys on a great run. 2nd in state isn't too shabby.
  19. Warren's doubles team of Tyler Word and Scott Carnley won both matches today to advance to the state finals tomorrow. Great job guys now finish it.
  20. IF Dirk wins MVP over Nash it will really stink.
  21. Title IX story My daughter was playing college volleyball and part of the deal was a job for the AD. There was an AD change after her freshman year and the new AD fired her and hired a 7footer from Germany for the boys team. We filed a suite under title nine. We won the suite, sortof , the answer was for the college to start a girls soccer program. Andl my daughter got a Soccer Field named after her. ;D
  22. I think Warren will be better at QB. Replacing Esway is going to be the problem. How Soph Dalton progresses and if Morris can stay healthy will determine any running game. The defense will be Okay.
  23. Good post all. All things being EQUAL, start the senior (as in seniority) then play the underclassman as some point in the game. But the retiredoldcoach has a point as well?
  24. really?
  25. I know several things had to happen last night for Woodville to win district. Any info would be appreciated.
