What has happened to Buna basketball program
warfan replied to BUNA95's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Buna has a tremendeous history in basketball. To see the program suffer is tough, i know. Maybe going back and forth between AA and AAA has something to do with it. Here at Warren several years ago when we went to AAA it got rough and kids didn't play. It's taken us 5 years and two great coaches to put it back together. "Success is such a fragil thing." Tanya Harding (well she could have said it) -

EC and Kountze (especially Kountze) will be losing so much talent. How Brey and Raymond develop this summer will be a major factor next year. I have seen Brey 5 times this year and he still has to develope quite a bit to be the player that Kountze will need. Don't know about Donte. Seen him a bunch as a freshman but not much this year. I know he is a great athlete, and as a freshman he had lots of potential. I do know about Thomas. By far the best player around. Stop him you win. But that's hard to do. With just a little talent around him he will find a way to win. EC and Kountze will be the teams to beat. Everyone seems to be overlooking the Warren boys. Sims has gotten so much better. Still has his shot but has also developed his inside game. Andrews will make a real impact next season. Last year was his first year on varsity (had to sit out a year) He has matured and is an outstanding shooter. Nash has continued to improve as PG. Very, Very fast and strong. Can score whenever he wants. Swinney just won't stop growing, strong, fast and will hurt you if given the chance, and McBee is fast, strong and smart. All will be seniors, all with 3 years varsity experience all 6'2" or better (except Nash 5'10"), all are "Hand" trained shooters. It is just plain gonna be hard to beat these guys. The rest of the 24AA teams each has a player or two that are outstanding. But I just don't see them making the run at EC, Kountze or Warren. It is going to take more than one or two players to compete. Bland, Marsh, Jackson and Ravon are all quality players. -
The scoring at a district track meet is incorrectly tallied. A school is given the first place points for a event they did not finish in. The trophies are given out. After returning home the coach for #2 team has the proper ribbons and realizes that there has been an error. The District chair is notified and yes there has been an error and #2 should be #1.

Warren took 9 boys and 7 made it to regional. Not bad.

Crawford suspended for actions toward Duncan
warfan replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Good! I was worried about him calling playoff games. The commissioner did the right thing. -
I guess the commissioner saw what we saw. I'm happy.
-
What's bad Crawford could very well call some of Duncan's playoff games.

I agree with Thomas. But who is Bray? -
"Even worse: Duncan is convinced official Joey Crawford is out to get him, with a brawl possibly needed to settle things" I'm convinced as well. Crawford was way out of line and very un-professional. Crawford has had a great career but from what I saw he should be done. This is the second time he has ejected Duncan. Yes, Duncan is a crybaby but this was unacceptable behavior from a professional official.

I think you would have to say the toughest district by classification. Or which district will be the toughest to make the playoffs in. That could very well be 21AAA. 24AA I think will end up a three horse race.

It's 6:20 here in Fort Worth, The front just went through with a tornado and golf ball size hail. Should be able to get our local games in.

Texas Senate OKs high school steroids testing
warfan replied to a topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I'm good with the test. It will probably save some lives. However, bet the school districts end up with an un-funded mandate, and that will hurt the small school programs. -
Thanks for the info!

Need to get Scuba Certified. Is there anyone around here giving lessons?

Way to go Warren.

*Warren 18 Deweyville 14 Final/Thursday
warfan replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Way to go Warriors. They never gave up. 17 point come back. WOW!! -
Well crazy or not, that my friend is a fact. And if someone can't see it they are blind. A kid get moved down, parent pitches a fit 'and he is back up. Happens around here all the time. We got kids playing that don't even come to practice. I believe Morgan is going to be a good coach. and am willing to give him the time, but he still has to learn how to deal with the spoiled parents here in Warren.

What do people think of Buna Coogs baseball team this year
warfan replied to BCoogs06's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I think they will win district if they haven't already. -
Yes. averaged!! Played in the Woodville league. Only three that were on that team are playing now. Parker, Swinney and Ellis. The team consisted of pitchers Paul Sims, Hieslebetz and Parker. Infield Sims 1st, Parker cat, Carnley 2nd, Swinney ss, Ellis or Wright 3rd, Mcbee left, Nash, center and Stephen Sims in right. Parker and Hieslebetz hit 15 out of the park and this was the Woodville high school field not Little League. Best team I've ever seen. (except my 64 Kelly HS team)

Deweyville vs Warren predictions.
warfan replied to D-villefan's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
By all means pitch Trey. Should have tried that a long time ago. Heck, try anyone interrested. Go warriors. -
I've kept my mouth shut long enough. The Kids that were mentioned that are not playing were on an undeafeaded Senior Little League team, averaged 22 runs a game and gave up one run. They played as freshmen on the JV team. They stopped playing because they did not like what the coach was doing. That being, letting the parents choose the team, positions and starters instead of the coach. Untill the parents stay out of it, it will not get any better. Warren has two new coaches that have not learned that yet. In time they will and will be great coaches. I will continue to support the boys playing as I always have, but I know we could be much better.
