  1. Paul and Matt are probably 6'4". I think Paul may be a wee bit shorter than Matt. They both have grown since seasons end. Swinney must be 6'3", and McBee is 6'2". McBee and Matt play much taller.
  2. I am going to support the Warriors anyway!
  3. Kountze and EC just wished they were packed with shooters. Kountze had and will probably have great athletes that play killer defense. If you can break down their defense you can win. EC has Thomas and some folks who can follow after he has created the offense. Warren's problem last year was poor shooting under the basket and failure to go "in and out" which denied the shooters their shots. Their shooters were only taking 5 or 6 shots a game. That is going to change with the players coming back. The post play will be more team orientated and that will created more shots and more scoring. There will be a battle for the playoffs in 24AA and Warren will be in it. "What good is it to be a pure shooter" it's everything. It makes you the most dangerous team in the district. You don't need penetration, you need screens and good post play. But all this is way off the subject of this tread. I think the best JV player in 24AA was Robert Hullett from Warren. Large kid with quick hands a great first step and a "pure shooter".
  4. He may not be able to spell it, but he "aint braggen about the shooten". The Andrews boys are pure shooters.
  5. Pitching is the obvious weakness. Swinney does a great job but can't do it by himself. Wilson and Kelley will be great, but it will take some time for them to develope. Too bad so many of the players chose not to play. I think they can be a good team it will just take some time. It's a good thing to have the young players out there, it's just painful for a while. You have to give the coaches time and let them run the team.
  6. Sims and Andrews are for real but they are not all this team will have. You will see a well balanced team next year. If you key on one or two players you will be in trouble. Nash, Swinney and McBee can all score and play killer defense. All are over 6'2" except Nash (5'10"), who plays point.
  7. In 24AA the second team is something to brag about. These guys would be first team in most districts. The level of basketball played in 24AA and region 3 in general is the best. Warren not only has Nash, Sims and Andrews coming back they also have the two honorable mentions in McBee and Swinney comming back. That's 5 all-district kids returning. The race between EC, Warren and Kountze is going to be a barn burner and lot's of fun.
  8. I will go with Warren this round.
  9. Yes. You are right about Bland.
  10. "How hard doesn't matter", excuse me. Bet you think size doesn't matter either. If you got a 1A or 2A kid throwing in the 90's he will be a factor even if he can't hit the backstop.
  11. That's a great question. I don't think he should due to his age. However, He would be crazy to turn down the money he will be offered. If he turned it down and got hurt next year, that would be bad. He can always go back to school. I wish the NBA had some restrictions for age, but it's all about money at that level. If he was my kid I would be negotiating a new car (heck a fleet of cars) for his momma right now.
  12. Warren and Big Sandy will do well next year. Losing Donahoe and Letsinger will have a great effect on HJ and WH. Silsbee is losing key players. 3A should be wide open. 2A is going to be battle with Kountze, Warren and EC. Deweyville and Hardin are going to be better but probably not there yet. "All in All" Warren has the most potential, they were 24 and 8 this year and will be better next year. That's not to say their record will be better, I hope the coach has them playing a much harder pre-season schedule. Their district schedule is as rough as it gets. Should be fun for all again.
  13. There is no way Kountze will replace the players they lost in one season. They will be good but not the power they were this year. EC will still have Mr.Tramain Thomas (nothing but respect for this lad) and will live and die by his performances. I like Warren's chances with everyone but Granger returning, Warren will be much better next year (24 & 8 this year) and with the shooters they have look out.
  14. Early in district play? After the loss to Silsbee.
  15. Warren, EC, Kountze, Hardin and Deweyville (with Jackson back) are going to have some good games. The battle between HJ and Silsbee and WOS will continue. HD, Spurger, will be at war, and Big Sandy will be better. Don't know if we have any state contenders, but it's going to be fun.
  16. No doublt they will be much better. If they can keep Bland eligible!
  17. No shot clock, there should be much more to basketball than "runnin and dunkin". We keep doing things to take the finesse out of the game. The only rule change I would make is to allow only 10 seconds in the back court. Run it like the shot clock. If a team calls time out with 8 seconds left, they would only have 2 left to get across the line. As it stands now good defense is not rewarded.
  18. Way to go Warriors. Wish I could have been there.
  19. This has been quite a season for all of us here in Southeast Texas. We can be proud of all our teams. The races for district in 4A, 3A, 2A and 1A were very exciting. 3 way tie in 3A, Kountze and Ec splitting 4 games, WH and BS battling for district. WH's run to be undeafeated. Even the battle for 3rd between my Warriors and Hardin was exciting. And then to have 3 teams make it to the Drum, with Kountze and HJ winning it all. WOW. We had several teams that could have went all the way. It was quite evident that our region is where it's at! And the players we were blessed to watch. Donahoe, J'Coven, Richards, Thomas, Letsinger and many, many more. These guys were such a joy to watch. I can't wait till next year. I am so proud of my Warriors, 12 and 24 last year to 24 and 8 this year and a playoff game. Great Season and we get to to do it all again next year. Congrats to all!! Now if anyone has an extra pitcher we could use him here in Warren.
  20. They should be able to improve their defense. But pitching, that's another story. I wish Warren the best and will be supporting them but it's going to be a long season I'm afraid. Please don't hurt Caleb's arm.
  21. He coaches at a basketball magnet school for goodness sakes. If he doesn't have talent every year something really wrong.
  22. I've only seen one D1 player. That's J'Coven Brown. But he has to have an attitude change. Seen several that can go juco, Donahoe & Nethlerly. Haven't seen the guys at Ozen. Thomas, just don't know what position he could play. Not a true point or shooting guard. Heck of an athlete, I hear he has a football offer and he should take it. Kountze has a couple that could make it by way juco, it really depends on what happens this weekend. Would like to see Letsinger continue his career just because he loves the game so, and that may get him a juco or cc signing. You really have to be special to go straight to D1 and that don't mean you will get to play. After High School it gets to be a tough business.
  23. Fuller is a great guy and a good coach. But he did take over a team loaded with seniors. A team that went from 2AA to 1A, and with a player that was argueble the best 1A player in the state. What he does next year will tell the tale on his coaching abilities. Hargraves is in a similuar situation with Thomas. Joubert has experienced seniors and tons of talent. Carter took a 12 win team from last year , won 20+ games and went to the playoffs. He gets my vote.
  24. It will take the new coach a little time to know what these kids can do. I'm going to give him some time. I know he want to win and that's what's important to me. Pitching will be the weakness, hitting will be strong and the fielding will come as the coach learns who can do what.
