Nederland 75 Port Arthur Memorial 66/Final
Dick Vitale replied to WOSgrad's topic in High School Boys Basketball
I think Nederland will beat Central at least once. ***shots fired*** LOL -
TERRIFIC KID! Congrats to you, young man, good luck at Texas State!

Josh Boyd impressed a LOT of college coaches this summer. They are going to be very good. There is nothing quite like state championship game experience, win or lose. They will be really good.

Yes he was the front runner at the time, and I knew all about it. I also knew WHY he withdrew his name from the candidacy too...didn't mention it because it was a personnel matter. THIS job however I am CERTAIN...it's a DONE DEAL...take it or leave it. AND NO INTERVIEWS ARE NEEDED.
-
This job is a done deal. No interviews necessary. Announcement coming later this week. DONE.

Well as far as him wanting to coach again, I will say this...did you happen to spot him in Silsbee over the weekend? Well I was on the road recruiting and I knew he was there and I also know that it wasn't for nothing.
-
He said he would have stayed if they expressed concern and gave at least SOME type of counter offer..but you're right, no coach would have passed on that opportunity.
-
Soulja, Boutte never wanted to STOP coaching! It was about the money and preparing himself financially to one day retire. If BISD would have raised the ante, he would have never left. Nothing changed. I meant what I said. I just know that some situations are more do-able than others. I got my first head coaching job at 27. He can do it. We all made mistakes young, God knows I did, but it never affected my ability to do what I love for a living to THIS day. My point to him was nothing was going to be handed to him and he gets that..everything in due time. I am much wiser than I was back then, and he is a lot like I was. He will be just fine.
-
My educated take on this move is simple. Boutte takes the job over and operates as HC and AD, Travis takes over HC for basketball at Kountze and Joubert will do straight football. Now if ANY situation would be suitable for Anthony to get a shot at being a HC its this one. Reason? Resources. If he would just sit there with his dad for a short time, I'm sure he could take that program over at some point. That job in PA is NOT for everyone. It's one of those jobs to where you have to be a PART of the community and understand the roots, or adopted by the community and taught the thoroughly. It will be interesting to see how this unfolds.

But some feel they are qualified because of their last name...smh..Hancock would be a great choice...people have to understand they must PAY THEIR DUES..keep your nose clean, be LOYAL where you are, work hard and your time will come...its NOT a right of passage...
-
On second thought Coleman has paid his dues and deserves a shot...
-
Hancock....football background.
-
SMH...Ok I'm done with this one, good luck in your quest to be a high school head coach.
-
You should never think more of yourself than others do. It's ok, I know you're young and I've been there, but the quickest way to turn people against you is to have a higher thought of self than others do. These past few years should be evidence of that. Just a nugget of wisdom.
-
FYI, stop trying to post anonymously. It's not a good look, and everyone knows it's you....SMH.
-
The truth is the truth...no one is belittling anyone here. It's all about EXPERIENCE and READINESS for the position. I don't bite my tongue about it. Honestly I think Anthony would have been great at WOS...it would be a great place to start for him. But to be thrown in CENTRAL is a bit much in my opinion. Now if you want to debate further, you know my number....Anthony.
-
I'm back on the college level as an Associate Head Coach and Head Coach in waiting when the head coach becomes the AD..if not for that, I would have definitely put my name in the hat....I'm on the other side now...sorry you can't heckle me...LOL
-
No way to either of those. One is just a bad move the other is nowhere NEAR ready for this caliber of job. Tremaine Hancock COULD be a darkhorse candidate for this one too.
-
Roderick Johnson former Dallas Madison coach, is who they are going to ATTEMPT to hire...write it down. Agree with it or not, this is where they are headed.
-
Question: will that baggage prevent either of them from doing a great job at Central?
-
It's already done...interviews will be strictly a formality. In my OPINION, of course!
