This guy TORCHED the best of the best at the Fonde Rec Center in Houston in the summers. Regularly played on the NBA court with the pros, and was ALWAYS one of the best on the floor. I am telling you, he was and STILL IS THAT good.
Any idea why he never got a chance to play for a living. Surely there were people "in the know" who would have gotten him a chance.
He played for the Globetrotters at one time, but no one other than that wanted to take a chance on an unproven guy...He was an awesome talent...In high school, could never get his grades together at Kashmere HS, and STILL received an opportunity to play junior college ball and lasted one month...He was just a guy that never "got it" until it was too late...Has been working for the City of Houston, at the Fonde Rec Center for almost 20 years now.. -
I've known college players who could hoop their butts off in the playground. Put them in an organized setting, they became a non-factor. Mental game was bad and did not understand the game
CASE AND POINT: Dewayne "Legend" Rogers....Quite possibly the BEST player to EVER come out of Houston, to NEVER suit up for a high school or college game... ;) -
Think of it this way.....What is the first thing that kids do when they walk in a gym? Pick up a ball and SHOOT it, or get down in a defensive stance and do some slides? The GOOD teams have guys that can really score, the GREAT ones have guys on it that will guard you from the time you step off of the bus! ;)
In my opinion Zjori shouldve made 1st team hands down. Paige made the team, but Zjori made all- State. That doesnt make any sense. Hell he shouldve been the MVP. ( I am a little biased). LOL....Who do you think he should replace? I am glad you noticed my comedic timing. I work hard on that aspect of my debates.
Yet the question remains STILL unanswered....WHO SHOULD HE REPLACE ON THE 1ST TEAM? ::) -

LU is a pretty decent MM women's job. Why did they have to play in PA? Was it at Lamar State? -
I'm responding @ the butt end of the convo( but I read previous pages) Please hear me out. Dickie & Big Girl, when it comes to these kids, if you have something personal you want to say please PM that person because word may get back to that kid by someone reading this public forum & it could affect his/ her upcoming AAU game mentally(trying to prove us wrong) Big Girl, kudos for protecting your family, but please listen up. Your Fam is trying to play @ the next level. You are on here going back & forth with a college coach. Doesn't matter what level he is on. Would you have such harsh words if he were a top D1 Asst Coach? All I'm saying is Coaches know Coaches and you know as well as I know Big Girl, men gossip more than women Lol. So he has friends @ other colleges @ various levels that could give your Fam a look just because he asked. I know his comments are critical at times, but that's ok. Your Fam don't need smoke blown up his butt all day long or yes men telling him how good he is. If you're going to listen to anyone, listen to the College Coach who sees this everyday. My advice to your Cousin would be to fine tune the basketball game, were no reinventing the wheel, so just by playing everyday he will get better. I'm more concerned with the mental side because he may play for a Coach like the 2 guys @ Rutgers. If he does,he will have to have a pair of nuggets down there. For he record, if these kids think sports center will save them every time something like this happens, they are sadly mistaken. More times than not your scholarship will go before the Coach. This was isolated. I know those 2 guys went overboard, but I wouldn't bet on the Coach getting fired every time. Just a little word to the wise. I Pray this helps someone. Good Day everyone. Mighty Bumblebees
Great post! 8) -
I know Omar Sneed very well...One of the best to come out of Beaumont...Omar knows his stuff, however, playing on a high level DOES NOT constitute KNOWING the game as a coach would....Omar is smart, and wants to coach when he is done playing...But I am CERTAIN he will tell you that he will have to learn the game from the coaching side of things...Because he IS pretty smart.. ;)....Again, good luck to you and "yours"... ::) -
Whatever Dick (no pun intended). You dont know everything about basketball and apparently you have not watched enough of his games to know what he needs to work on. I had a long talk with his AAU coach after the game yesterday. He told me what Zjori needed to work on. He didnt mention any of the things that you mentioned. I think he knows more than you do about Mr Bosha.... ;) ( Dont worry about me and mine) Zjori is not your concern period.. HIs coaches from HJ also know more about him then you do........
Oh of course....The AAU coach that works at the refinery all day is probably better qualified to evaluate basketball talent than me...I just do this for a LIVING....Of course... ::) ::) ::)...wow.... :o....good luck to you and yours. -

My goodness. ;)
Ignorance is definitely bliss, but I hope its not hereditary... ::) ::)...First off, It should not matter what level that I coach on, but the question should be "does your school offer scholarships, along with a plan to obtain a college degree"...I NEVER said something was WRONG with his handle or his mid range game, I know that at his size, if he MASTERS these skills, in addition to learning to become a defensive stopper that can guard the 1-4 positions, he will be a force to be reckoned with next season. I have always said that I liked his game. Having done this for as long as I have, I have the ability to recognize if a kid has potential or not and Bosha does have the frame and skill level to be a really good college player...Once again, if family members such as yourself would stop campaigning for him to make some dumb "Super Gold" team in a newspaper read by less than 5,000 people and encourage him to continue to work on his game and in the classroom in order to prepare for the next level, the rewards will be much greater than small town newspaper recognition. My goodness.... ::) ::)
DV, stick with the basketball knowledge. That statement about the BE being read by less than 5,000 is comical at best. If you only knew how many papers those guys sell daily. ;)
That number was SUPPOSED to be comical! 8)...I wasn't giving approximate numbers, merely making a point about a small town paper compared to a metropolis such as the one the Houston Chronicle delivers to! ;) -

Listen.... THATS exactly what is wrong with kids today...Too many people are more concerned with individual accolades than actually working on their games AND BOOKS in order to earn a college scholarship...SMH..TRUTH: If he was CLEARLY head and shoulders good enough to be on the Super Gold Team, there would be NO QUESTION...Yes, its a subjective vote by a few guys that may or may not know what they are doing, but once again, if it were crystal clear, he would have definitely been on the list...Stop whining about it, and get HIM IN THE GYM!! WORK!! USE IT AS FUEL! Drops the mic...walks away... 8) -

Just my theory
I disagree. If you look at the scores of the games Boutte coached in, you would see that for the most part the games were low scoring games. Andre stressed defense more than offense.
Absolutely....100% correct... ;)

Just my theory
Not really. He zoned a lot of times just to give the other team a different look. Sometimes to throw them off, and sometimes to make the opposing coach simply have to make an adjustment...It was very situational.

Sort of a different question if yall don't mind. Its the off season Do you think (the majority of) players get scholarships playing high school ball these days?
Yes and no. SENIORS that are unsigned will likely get looks based on the HS season and body of work, along with how they perform possibly on a visit. Underclassmen will likely get looks from the summer circuit, and have that look verified during the next HS season. THATS how it works. ;)
Then, if I am understanding you correctly, a player gets "discovered" during AAU play and his abilities are confirmed during the basketball season?
If we do our homework, we will have "discovered" most of them long before the AAU season. However, there are some that are seen in summer ball, and confirmed during the HS season, yes.
When you have done your "homework" has it been done mostly around regular season play or off season play?>
Sometimes BOTH! It just depends on when we are in recruiting mode. If its in the off season, its when we will find them, if its during the season it will be at the HS. It just depends.
