Diboll did, but I think Jasper is capable of beating anyof the top teams in the district at home or on the road.  Also, I think their capable of being beaten by any team if they don't come to play.

Center won, but Diboll palyed them tough. I think the score w as 61 - 68 @ Center; Diboll is much improved.

Does  Jasper still  have cross country, basketball, soccer, track and  junior high sports as well. A true AD should be concerned about the entire program, not just two sports. What about the girls program as well?

Should the UIL put in a "mercy rule"?

I have never witnessed two refs operate with less integrity - kids deserved to be treated fairly no matter where their from.

Vidor will play Jasper today @ 5PM with the winner taking home the champiohship trophy.

I thinks it's a fair question, but remember Woodville had the same right to deny his team's entry,  but didn't. I am confident that Coach Williams is not afraid to play good competition. Also, there is much truth regarding the money issue as it relates to which tournaments you will play in; gas is going up and budgets are shrinking. 

I for one do not believe the job should have been posted as AD/Head football coach combined.  Secondly, I think there are many good assistants out there who would gladly embraced the opportunity to coach at place with such a rich football tradition. I think ALL athletes are best served when this is  position of neutrality. One of my friends told me recently, and I quote , " things were always better when everyone coached football. " I ask him should everyone be required to coach basketball?

The common thread amongst most of the candidates seems to be that most have former connections to the Jasper program.

If this is true as being alleged by this post, school rules shouldapply since this occured during a school sponsored event. In most cases, the violaters would be placed on an Alternative Education Campus for 20 - 30 days.

Admin, So at your school, the teacher with the most students is the Department Head? Normally, those of us who coach other sports (other than football) see more kids a day because the Athletic Director in most schools is doing what most of the day. A friend mind who is a very, very, very successful high school football coach (two state championships) said he always told the school to give him some classes because he didn't no what to do with himself all day if he wasn't doing something other than being the district's Athletic Director. Another thing to  keep in mind is that most  coaches in other sports coach more games in a season than the football coach and yet he makes the most money and is always given more help. I have worked an offseason football program before and afterwards I wondered what a waste of taxpayer dollars with so many coaches doing nothing but watching as primarily, one guy ran the entire  offseason program; so some traditions really need to be revisted.

Most of today's society has taken a strong stance on  discipline - WE DON'T WANT ANY! I commend Travis on his stance and respect him even more since this article was published.

Recently, I have had people tell me that they think the only way to get a good football coach is to  give him the title Athletic Director as well. Would you get a better basketball coach if you gave him both titles? If the basketball coach has a master's degree and the football coach doesn't, who is most qualified? If you say the football program brings in the most money, aren't you bringing into question incentive pay, which is prohibite by the UIL; that would kinda be like a bonus (the ADtitle) which means more money (bonus).  Let me hear it.
