That response is the reason I was hesitant to write that post, because I knew that all the defensive replies would start flying in. Obviously, this forum is intended to give people a place to voice their opinions, and I'm glad for it. I just notice that whenever there are players who happen to play Babe Ruth, it never goes without mention that they were a Babe Ruth All Star. Just my opinion, not intended to start what will likely become a huge ordeal.

It's simple lefty against righty. So youre saying pinch hit So Taguchi for Albert Pujols just because of the matchup? (So Taguchi is Right Handed, too) :-[ On a side note, I'm still not sure why playing for a Babe Ruth All Star team makes someone such a great player in everyone's eyes. I'm not singling out anyone - especially Jude Vidrine, because he has been carrying the club offensively at times this Spring - but why is that always the criteria whenever a Bulldog is mentioned? Isn't there anything else in SETX baseball that can showcase a HS player's abilities besides making an All Star team that is more or less predetermined before the regular season begins? No disrespect intended, but that's always been a question of many people not from Mid-County. ???

WB vs. Lee/WB Wins 1-0/Comments

If Brook plans on going to the postseason, this is one of the 3 or 4 teams that they're gonna have to sweep. We'll find out tonight if that matters to them or not...or if they're still feeling sorry for themselves for losing so many seniors from '07. -
But you went down trying. That is the very important. "Trying"? Trying only means that you failed. No one tells you "good try" or "good effort" when you succeed, they tell you "good job." People who reward trying aren't giving their players much credit. Trying should be a guarantee every time you step onto the field. 8)

Why's the Astros' First Baseman "pomising" anything to a Freshman baseball player at LSU? Just curious. ??? -
HJ Vs. HF Predictions??
Kelly Baseball replied to SportsFanatic09's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
HF will not win this game. HJ is too good for them. -
I missed it, but I heard it was a helluva game by Benoit and Todd on the mound for PN-G. Well done, that's a big win for the Indians.

Lemme say again, "Toughen Up." Contrary to what many of you may think, coaches get paid to win games. In the dream land, the coach's job is to mold the boys into adults, but in the real world, they lose their jobs if they don't win. If crowding the plate allows you to get baserunners because the opposing pitcher can't do his job, then, by all means, crowd the plate. Making a blanket statement that says that a coach needs to take care of his players and have them back off the dish is just insane. If they keep crowding, then you keep pounding the inner half. Something eventually has to give, one way or the other. It stinks that Barbe's player took one in the jaw, and I hope that he is okay, but that's just a part of the game....an unfortunate part, yet still a part.

Westbrook tournament

Complain a little bit more, Cleanup. But, hey, at least you can blame it on the game times or the field if you give up all unearned runs again. See, there's always a bright side!!! :'( -

R(uns) H(its) E(rrors) Those are the 3 numbers that the Baseball Gods feel are the most important, so that's why they include all 3 of them in the linescore. Maybe if someone starts catching the ball, those first 2 numbers may matter a little bit more. -

I've never understood the "we gave them the game" comment, when you subsequently see that the team scored only one stinkin' run. I understand maybe a 6-5 loss, when you may have 3 wild pitches and 6 errors that lead to those 6 runs, but at least you scored 5 runs yourself. How can you say that you should've won the game, when you scored 1 RUN?!?! I just don't get it, that's all. ??? -
Underclassmen talent??
Kelly Baseball replied to setxsportswhizz08's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
yes nederland does have a great babe ruth program but the 13-15 year old babe ruth is made up of kids from all over jefferson county and alot of port neches people play with them and in senior babe ruth people from all over this area play there were 4 nederland kids on the 16 year old allstars and maybe 5 on the 17-18 year old allstars so although nederland has a good babe ruth it is supported by alot of players who play for schools other than nederland Not a big fan of the punctuation, there, huh? -
What's Title VIV? Is that anything like Title IX?

Congratulations, guys. All that hard work has paid off, without a doubt.

Well, if it's a curveball, it's too hard. It's a slider

Silsbee won the game 7-5. Kelly had a 5-4 lead in the 6th, but a defensive miscue gave Silsbee and inside-the-park home run to tie it at 5. They scored two in the 8th to go ahead. Schooling had a great slider, as always, but threw way too many pitches. Well over 100, by my count. Yuck!
