  1. Tied 6-6 now. Both teams missed XP. By the way, the game is at Abshier. LP is visitor.
  2. Not an away game. Need to check on LPSportsnet anyway with games being at The Hill. Haven’t heard if they’ll be allowed to broadcast or not.
  3. Don’t really know what LP has this year. Looked to see if it was on NFHS or Texan Live & don’t see it. Not sure if DP has their own broadcast or not. Would enjoy seeing it. Gotta be a homer. It’s the Border War. (Incidentally, not sure who changed it to Border Battle for pc sake or something. But, it was Border War for over 50 years.)
  4. Don’t follow as close as I used to. But, yes. I think that’s right. Young man has some wheels. After his injury, LP struggled for offense. Defense is such a change from the historical 34/52, it’s hard for me to get used to…
  5. Just a guess, but LP’s fate would seem to hinge on Keenan’s full recovery & how they cope with zero home games. The JV was successful & talented. How they can contribute to varsity will also be key. Being in the system for a year now should help. Yes. I could see them being a strong contender. I don’t see them being 6th.
  6. Haven’t driven by in a couple days. But, tear down was set to begin 6/1. Anticipated timeframe about 18 months. I’ll see if I can get into town sometime this week and give an update.
  7. Hopefully the new residents, new stadium, and new coaching staff can turn things back around. But, LP now is 57% Hispanic. Football becomes an issue with those numbers unless there are a lot of transfers like NS. Pasadena says hello…
  8. It’s become a good rivalry. Wasn’t that way until about 10 years ago. The demographics of LP have changed to majority Hispanic, and the sports teams reflect that change. As far as enrollment, I believe 2282 is the old number. But, the senior class graduated 450, and the 8th grade is about the same. Maybe a touch less. Seems I read 815 somewhere. I expect LP to remain 5A for a while. UIL will continue to raise numbers, and the new residents are still very young families. Of course, I am wrong half the time. 😀
  9. Mag West for me as well. Good story for the new coach & they have earned the spot for the entire season. Strong club.
  10. Good season for La Porte. Lake Creek was a solid ball club. Their softball & baseball are both in the regional finals. Good programs & should be a great battle with Mag West.
  11. Any Border War/Border Battle. La Porte vs. Deer Park. Been going on for 63 games—since 1946. Been a few I’ve missed from time with Uncle Sam & other business. But, have attended most of them since the mid 70’s. Always a packed house of 10,000+, and records are thrown out the window. The betting and sniping doesn’t end with the kids. It actually is as much between the parents & communities who—a majority—work together in the local industry. A week long buildup every year. You can buy a ticket for a seat. But, it’s never used.
  12. La Porte 1 Lake Creek 0 4th LP with a no hitter so far…
  13. Round 4 R18 La Porte (27-7-1) vs R21 Lake Creek (25-9) Thur. 5/25 7:00 p.m. Humble
  14. La Porte 2 Fulshear 0 La Porte advances.
  15. It’s on Vype right now. (Audio only) BH up 4-0 in 2nd. [Hidden Content]
  16. La Porte vs Fulshear Friday, 5/19, 7:30 pm, C.E. King Stadium Single game. (LP must have lost coin toss. With their pitching depth, no way Torres would pick a single game series. Especially since they’re ranked higher as well & have had extra rest while Fulshear fought Crosby.)
  17. La Porte sweeps Waltrip 7-0, 9-1. Will face winner of Fulshear/Crosby.
