  1. Don’t know if it would do you much good. Pretty much shut down the attack early 3rd when it was 49-6. Will say, the 2 Jr. RB’ (Barnes & Sandolph) remind me very much of Coach Whitely’s son from a build & running style. Bet he’s happy to have them. YAC yards are way up there. Early. But, reminding me of the deliberate, pounding LP of old. Of course, the competition gets stiffer from here.
  2. Looked like a nice stadium. Lighting was different. But, field looked nice from the video on LPSportsNet. With Mama Dawg’s handicap, we’re watching streams until the new LP digs are ready with the handicap features. Her walker is hard to use in most stadiums.
  3. Didn’t see him play tonight. But, Barnes & Stanhoff were pretty solid 1/2. YAC were off the charts from both from my visuals. Not sold on QB situation yet. 8 came in 2nd half and did a solid job of ball handling & no major mistakes. He may get more playing time. Think he’s a Jr. Hard to gauge against Elsik.
  4. !!:7/35/F Pretty workman like effort from LP. Some things to clean up, but solid and steady.
  5. Border War overall record LP 36 wins DP 33 wins 1 Tie
  6. LP turnover on downs on DP 23. About 2 minutes left.
  7. Tied 6-6 now. Both teams missed XP. By the way, the game is at Abshier. LP is visitor.
  8. Not an away game. Need to check on LPSportsnet anyway with games being at The Hill. Haven’t heard if they’ll be allowed to broadcast or not.
  9. Don’t really know what LP has this year. Looked to see if it was on NFHS or Texan Live & don’t see it. Not sure if DP has their own broadcast or not. Would enjoy seeing it. Gotta be a homer. It’s the Border War. (Incidentally, not sure who changed it to Border Battle for pc sake or something. But, it was Border War for over 50 years.)
  10. Don’t follow as close as I used to. But, yes. I think that’s right. Young man has some wheels. After his injury, LP struggled for offense. Defense is such a change from the historical 34/52, it’s hard for me to get used to…
  11. Just a guess, but LP’s fate would seem to hinge on Keenan’s full recovery & how they cope with zero home games. The JV was successful & talented. How they can contribute to varsity will also be key. Being in the system for a year now should help. Yes. I could see them being a strong contender. I don’t see them being 6th.
  12. Haven’t driven by in a couple days. But, tear down was set to begin 6/1. Anticipated timeframe about 18 months. I’ll see if I can get into town sometime this week and give an update.
  13. Hopefully the new residents, new stadium, and new coaching staff can turn things back around. But, LP now is 57% Hispanic. Football becomes an issue with those numbers unless there are a lot of transfers like NS. Pasadena says hello…
  14. It’s become a good rivalry. Wasn’t that way until about 10 years ago. The demographics of LP have changed to majority Hispanic, and the sports teams reflect that change. As far as enrollment, I believe 2282 is the old number. But, the senior class graduated 450, and the 8th grade is about the same. Maybe a touch less. Seems I read 815 somewhere. I expect LP to remain 5A for a while. UIL will continue to raise numbers, and the new residents are still very young families. Of course, I am wrong half the time. 😀
