  1. Not every school district with open enrollment uses it as a ‘recruiting tool’. Some use it for the correct reason, which is to allow kids to get to a better, safer education experience. Some schools offer a lot more in the way of advanced placement opportunities, early college classes while still attending high school (with free college tuition included), and more vocational programs. Some of these vocational programs also offer UIL competitions, and are also regulated by the transfer rules. I know kids at La Porte can actually graduate with a HS diploma & an Associates or Certificate of Specialization in a Tech field at the same time & have the college/tech at no charge due to a co-curriculum arrangement. It’s a big draw for some. Just keep this in mind.
  2. For most, the season has come to an end. How did your team fare in your opinion? Did they meet, exceed, or fall short of expectations? Please provide opinions without slamming coaching staffs or administrations. Since I follow my Alma mater La Porte, my take is they actually exceeded my expectations. I had them pegged as a 2nd Round PO winner & possibly 3rd Round. I didn’t really expect a State Quarterfinal participant. They returned a lot. So, I did have reasonably high expectations for a 3rd year staff. When they won the Regional Semi vs Consolidated, I started to feel really good about their chances of actually making it to Jerryworld. But, when Angleton won (who I supported as a district mate), I had a pit form in my stomach and Deja Vu knowing it would be a very tall task to beat them twice in a month. Still, they had a great season & return a decent amount for next year. The program is growing again. Next year way too early look ahead: I see them being a PO team again. Maybe another district championship with all the home games they’ll have. But, the OL will need almost a total rebuild. They do return QB, 2 RB’s, TE, WR, & an OL (with another that had significant playing time due to injuries). Defensively, I think they return 5 who had good playing time. I don’t see another Quarterfinal run. But, depends on how they come together. The senior leadership they’re losing will be tough to replace. What do you think about your team?
  3. Didn’t have one more miracle left. Great season though Angleton. As a side note, I’ve noticed so many times, when a team beats a team they lost to—or played—earlier in the season, they seem to lose the next game a majority of the time. Not just this year with DR, NS, AT. Other years as well. Rematches seem to be tough on both teams involved. One just gets it a week later…
  4. Angleton not able to move the ball at all so far.
  5. TD SV. 9 yard pass. SV 7 Angleton 0 8:31 2nd
  6. Angleton stuffed em 2 plays for 9 yard loss. Then, PF on Angleton. Back at 9. 1st & goal again.
  7. Angleton bobbled snap on punt. Punted out of bounds to their own 9. SV ball. 1st & goal.
  8. Nothing against Stump. Just looking at where he’s at as far as age, tenure & possibilities of bettering his record (as far as SC possibilities) as long as he’s going up against NS to progress further. I think he’s probably already cemented a place in the GHA Coaches HOF. Maybe, even more. Don’t know his exact record. But, I think it’s pretty darn good. Don’t mean to veer this away from Kingwood. But, if Stump does retire, it may also help Kingwood as Atascocita would have to adjust for a bit.
  9. To me, it’s cyclical in 6AR3D2. The talent you see maybe should really be at a D2 school? Theres also a very big gap in sizes of schools/programs between D1/D2 in 6AR3. More so than in some of the other regions. Quite a few ‘mega schools’ in R3.
  10. True point. I just edited & added about Stump. Thoughts?
  11. So, make one posthumously. I said Kingwood was gonna beat out CEK for the 4 spot at the beginning of the season after LP played them. If UIL does start cracking down on transfers, they’ll be in the mix a lot more every year. I also just have a gut feeling Stump’s clock may be running. He’ll be 60 with at least 20 years, and I don’t see him ever getting past NS.
  12. I mentioned in another place that Angleton has that ‘IT’ right now. Couldn’t really define. But—after thinking about it—I guess it could best be described as belief they can come back from just about anything…confidence…winning attitude. The last few weeks of close PO wins have really cemented their never give up attitude. They have the talent. They have good coaching. I believe they’re fairly healthy. Calpreps has them as 4 point underdog. But, they’ve been underdog this whole PO season. Something tells me this is their year to make it to Jerryworld. I just think they’re finding ways to win. Keep repping 11-5A1. Cats by 3 late.
  13. Just don’t have a hangover from this game next week. SV looks like they’re on fire. Keep representing 11-5A1!
  14. Naw. They didn’t play well enough to win. It was Angleton’s day today. If there’s any question about going for it on that play, my question would be ‘why the toss’ when you need less than a yard. Still. I think Angleton would have found a way to win & they deserved it. Overall, they played better.
  15. Angleton came ready to play. It was a very disjointed game. But, they came prepared.
  16. !!:24/21/F Congrats Wildcats! Good Luck next week.
  17. !!:13/21/3 Sandolph TD
  18. !!:13/14/3 22 yard FG Angleton
  19. LP is visitor. That’s okay. I’ll redo.
