1.
It's not Woodvilles fault they lost...I can't really blame them, I blame that weak district they play in. You know, I can respect their districts champion, (KV did go undefeated in district like EC, afterall) but hey, after that, their runner ups just don't have much at all. All the games amongst each other in their 22-2A district doesn't help get them ready for the playoffs. Too bad 22-2A is such a weak district.
Did someone confiscate your computer, ECBF? I follow your point. Just doesn't sound like you.  ;) ~ Mel
2. I'm no expert on demographics, but I feel the need to add my 2 cents. First, the Peninsula has been years without being "destroyed" by a hurricane. There have been several in a row and that has made it particularly difficult. The tide will turn (no pun intended), and Bolivar and High Island will again go many years without devastating 'canes. So, it is with that thought process that I start my next statement . . . where there is accessible coastline, there will be developers. It may be a little while in coming. But, some deep-pocketed developers will come along and pick up a lot of that property at what they will consider a good value and then begin again. It will likely be higher dollar communities and tax revenue will go up. Then, consider that the school district receives a chunk of their revenue from oil production. While the hurricane shut some of the wells down, it is sure to be only temporary with the "drill now" mode that the country seems to be in. Further, it is my understanding that the state often provides ways to make up the money differences in the interim. High Island ISD School Board may very well decide that it is no longer a functional district. I don't know. But, I wouldn't count the district out because of revenue. I think there's probably plenty of it and the future will again be very bright for our beachfront neighbors. Go get 'em, Cards! We're all behind you!!
3. I don't know that I understand or agree with that logic. However, y'all know that I'm not smart enough to argue the point. I just can't see the AD, the admin or anyone else hiring anyone but who would be the best coach for the job. I thought they did a decent job hiring Mozley. I'm sure the next one will be fine, as well. I don't know that you're right or that you're wrong. But, from where do you gather this knowledge? I only ask because you claim to NOT know much about the specific situation regarding this baseball coach. I don't suppose it really matters. But, it appears to me that this school district is pretty high on the AD. Re/ Mozley's reason for departure, there are but a few who know the real story and they don't seem to be sharing the info. What I know about the situation is little more than folks' idle speculation for the most part. And really, if you think about it, who wants to stay where they're not wanted? I wouldn't. Mozley is young, appears to be a decent coach and will be plenty happy somewhere else. Very true and a good point.
4. BUCman, his second season's not over yet. Maybe the Bucs will finish second this year. However, let me say that I am almost certain that having sought and hired some of the brightest minds and best coaches in 2A football, ECISD would surely hire a suitable baseball coach with baseball experience that would take the team as far as they could. Wouldn't they?
5. Close, Bob. The score was 12-7 according to the scoreboard. The game was great for EC fans and there was a nice little gathering of them. With the exception of the top of the first inning, the Bucs led the entire game. Trey Lambert was awesome, as were all of the players. J.T. Hallmark is an amazing ball player. Well, I could go on all night. There wasn't a single EC player on the field that didn't contribute significantly to this afternoon's win. I was struck by how decisive and deliberate they were in comparison to their early season outings. Congratulations to the players, Coach Mozley and Coach Otto. Great game, Bucs! Great game!
6. Everyone has bad games and high school teams everywhere have been noted for playing above their talent. So, it's feasible that Arp would have a not-so-good night and EC would play awesome ball with some added adrenaline. That's the reason they play the game. As a friend of mine said just this morning, "Nothin' wrong with goin' in as the underdog." And, if you don't believe THAT, ask McCain and Obama. Synopsis: Yep, Arp probably has the advantage. But, we've got a great team and we're capable of winning. We've seen the Bucs step up before, so they can do it again. EC by 3. GO RUNNIN' BUCS!
7. 34 EC 28 Newton w/ 3 mins left in Q3. Newton has not scored in second half.
8. And that's the reason Tramain Thomas is an asset on any court, on any field, on any team. Congratulations Carla and Billy Thomas, on a job well done!! We've all enjoyed watching a great kid accomplish great athletic feats. And as for the "hype" comments — you're all wet. The athletes you're promoting may be better than Tramain. Who really knows? But few, if any of us supporting EC, really care. We've had fun and won't soon forget what Tramain Thomas has done for the EC athletic program.
9. EC 15 Kountze 18 End of Q1. EC was up by as much as 6, then Kountze had a run. Going to be an interesting night.
