If you want to walk the sidelines during a game, put a headset on and get to it, if not time it's time to move on. With the money being wasted on a HC and part time AD you might find a decent coach, and I can say that because I'm a taxpayer in DISD
::) ::) ::) ::) ::) MOST WONT SAY IT BUT MOST AGREE ;) ;) ;D ;D
Brandon, you're better than that -
That is what I heard last year, Dayton going to be loaded with talent, if that was the case it seems coaching is the issue, if I'm in charge of the hiring and firing at Dayton I tell Stewart to make up his mind, either coach or retire we don't need a part time AD making more than most teachers. With the money being wasted on a HC and part time AD you might find a decent coach, and I can say that because I'm a taxpayer in DISD
Jerry Stewart put this town on the map. He accomplished more on those sidelines, that you say he shouldn't be on, than any other coach that came before him. He's won more playoff games than the rest of the coaches in dayton's history combined. His record speaks for itself. Numerous kids have been given opportunities to attend college that wouldn't have been otherwise possible without coach stewart. The financial windfall for the athletic department is a direct result of coach stewart. He restored a sense of pride to a town that was sorely lacking, yet you flap your gums on a message board about how he shouldn't be on the sidelines of the house that he built. Please. You're right about one thing. Coaching is the issue, but don't direct that at Jerry Stewart. You may or may not have noticed, but he's not coaching anymore. I'd love to see Coach Stewart put a head set back on. However it's laughable at best for someone like you that has probably contributed a fraction of what coach stewart has contributed to this community to start making demands. I'm sure you were in the stands for the wins, so maybe you should just say thanks and move on. -

Also Daytons QB Chambers got kicked off the team. Word is said that he is trying to be let back on there. No news yet about that.
What happened to the Chambers kid? Is he going to be able to get back in good standing with in a day. Sad to hear it happen, would like to see both teams at their best for this one.
I would personally like to see our tall lanky playmaker QB at another position. Put Keener behind center and go with it. I think Chambers would benefit the team better not behind the center. This should have been done earlier in the year IMO. I think the coaches are still struggling on who to put back there and this is why Dayton's offense is night and day on Friday nights. Sling the ball down field instead of lateral plays.
Dayton is very successful in the passing game when choosing to utilize the deep middle of the field. It becomes comical at times watching the opposing safeties on the numbers and 5-7 yards off the LOS and Dayton continues to throw the bubble. Every team we play knows that we play outside the numbers and doesn't respect the middle. That philosophy worked great when AJ Dugat was here but he's gone.

NS ran a lot his way and many nights stood out as the most physical kids on the field. Ask a Westbrook fan. During the years Rollison would have been there Todd and Newton were the qbs. If he redshirted Frazier would have been there. And Mangino did say that but it was the common sentiment being echoed throughout Lawrence, the Michigan coaches thought higher of him than that. You sound like you used to be one of those guys that used to hand out gatorade and fresh towels at Bronco games 'cause he couldn't get any run. But hey, at least now you can say you know more about Texas football than the BR. . . . . And how many squirts it takes to get to the bottom of a gatorade bottle.
20 yards a game receiving. Call it what you want. So what you're saying is that he's a good blocking TE that everybody thought was the savior for UT football. Ok, glad we got that covered. I'm going to say this one more time slowly so you can let it sink in. Rollison was never in any type of competition with Newton. They were never on the same field together. Todd was a senior when Rollison was a true Freshmen. Not many true freshmen see the field over a senior incumbent. Incumbent means the guy that already has the job. Just saving you some time. As far as your other cousin and Reesing, could you quit back tracking. First you said everybody was calling him the next Reesing. When I called you on that, you said Mangino told him that on a recruiting trip. Now you're familiar with the "common sentiments" in Lawrence, Kansas? Now we're bringing Michigan into this? Was he also the next "Shoelace?" As far as what I did on the field, I was a two year starter and made all district both years. I'm not Barrett Matthews, but I'm only one NCAA Td reception behind him. He's got me by a significant amount in the TD drop department though. With regard to Friday, how about a little wager? If Dayton loses, I'll agree to come on here, eat my crow and then never post again. If Crosby loses youll agree to do the same. Deal?
What years were those? I was all-district twice, first team senior year. Was 1-2 against Dayton though. I'll let the systems and comparison thing rest because I think you're trying to say something I'm not. If you actually read what I said you wouldn't repeat the same post. I didn't say anything about him being a savior, they wrote the article. I agree with your assessment of him. And on the Rollison thing if you do the arithmetic you would see what I'm saying on eligibility. On the wager, we talking ever post on SETX?
94-95. yes, ever. Garrett Gilbert was the Gatorade National Player of the year, Mel Kiper said the would be the first pick in the draft in 3 years. My cousin Barrett Matthews played at North Shore, was a first team all-america is now at Texas. Before the 2011 season they said he would be they key to the offense for Texas that year and he only scored once that year I think. My other cousin Christian Matthews was a dual threat qb ranked similiar to Rollison and ended up going to Kansas. They touted him as the next Todd Reesing, now he plays receiver. Being highly touted means nothing until you produce. If I'm not mistaken Rhett Bhomar (OU transfer) was the qb when Rollison went there, so yeah he couldn't beat him out either. That first game against Ned was the first time Aston had ever called or ran those plays in a game situation. He and the rest of the offense has progressed every game. If Austin could play 16 games like the Young kid did I think 3000 yards would be totally achievable, but I was talking about the fact that Walter coud have 1000 yards after the Creek game already. If Riordan's qb from last year would have played 16 games he would have been around 4000 yards passing, and that's with no running game to speak of. The man can make his system work with whoever is my point. I am new, so next year when Crosby brings back 8 of the current 11 starters on offense you might be hearing the same old story.
I was just gonna leave your bs alone, but you're in my wheelhouse now. Nobody and I mean nobody touted barrett matthews as the key to the longhorns season. His own momma wouldn't have said that. He looked good in shorts that's about it. Then when he got on the field everybody saw that he couldn't catch. Now he's been relegated to blocking TE. Your other cousin was a dual threat, but they were to touting him as the next todd reesing??? Do you see how that makes no sense? Cam Newton and Rollison weren't on the same team. Rollison 2009 Newton 2010. Bomar's last season at Sam was 2008 when rollison was in high school. So get your facts straight son.
[Hidden Content] Wasn't referencing it because it was a good thing, simply to state he didn't produce even after playing as a true freshman. They saw him everyday and still enough of him to write the article.He's still a 4 year letterman, just not Vernon Davis type product they thought had after dominating the high school ranks at North Shore. He was a product of David Aymond's system but when he got to Texas they found out he had a lot of holes in his game, now he's a blocking TE like you said. In 2009, Rollison's freshman year, Chris Todd was Auburn's starting qb and first team All-SEC. Cam Newton came right after. Wasn't 100% on Rhett Bohmar, that's why I said "if I'm not mistaken." In my newbie opinion Rollison would have never seen the field at Auburn besides mop up duty, probably could have at Sam but didn't. I doubt he could beat out Kiehl Frazier now either. Kansas had won the Orange Bowl with Todd Reesing running a spread-zone attack, Christian told me Mangino thought he could be a bigger, stronger, faster version of Reesing. Since that's what Bowie ran that's where he went over Michigan and Louisville. I was saying those things to show you can definitely be a product of a system and even had some close examples. Heck, I hope my 3 sons a 2 nephews get to play in Riordan's system. Is that straight enough for you? I like the fact that's it's a lot easier to argue with you than people that read.
Well you just linked a bleacher report article which makes the liberty vindicator look like elite level journalism. There's more holes in that article than I care to expound upon. I'll change my statement. Nobody with any knowledge of UT football thought Barrett Matthews was the key to the longhorns season. Maybe you and I have a different definition of "dominating the high school ranks" but 19 catches for 364 yards his senior season sounds pretty pedestrian. Chris Todd has nothing to do with Cam Newton and Tyrik Rollison. Not sure where you're going there. So nobody was touting the other matthews as the next todd reesing, you were just repeating what your cousin told you, that mangino told him on a recruiting trip? Ok. Good talk,Russ! -

I think Cap Rock and Mike Honcho need a signature bet. If Dayton wins Cap Rock has to put that picture of Coach Stewart as his sig pic for the rest of the season. If Crosby wins Mike Honcho has to put a crosby themed pic as his. You boys in? As far as predictions go, I predict that CougTalk will be awfully silent for a while, which will be good for all of us. I also predict that Cap Rock will be upset after the game and will feel compelled to drink his pain away at Rowdy Bucks. After one too many schaefer lights he'll wake up with some fatty that he brought home.
