I see what you are saying... However, rally scoring does make the game shorter. Can you imagine not getting a point until you serve (sideout scoring) and get a point then. A few years ago, we had the sideout scoring rule and games typically took 2 1/2 hrs to complete for just one match. The libero rule was brought down from the college ranks and this helps to prepare possible college players for a college style game so I am for that. But I do agree with you on the push/throws. There are a lot of officials out there that don't really know the difference between a legit bump and a carry. The one that really gets me is the setter double-hitting (hands hitting the ball like 1-2, instead of a simultaneous hit) on the set pass. Another thing that gets me is that during the regular season, the linesmen (who call the lines) are typically recruited from the volleyball teams attending the match and I don't have a problem with that, but I do have a problem with them saying in/out when it is obviously the opposite in order to aid their own team. Not saying it happens all the time, but it happens too much for my taste.

well, on another thread, someone says it was Buna #3 who moved it, not a Hardin player. Maybe this is a different 4th down play, but the one I am talking about happened in the 3rd quarter. I didn't see anyone move the ball on the one I saw... However, due to other circumstances, I had to leave and missed most of the 4th quarter. Maybe it happened then?? -

oooohhhh....I'm so scared of people who can't spell or even use good grammar. Insulting someone on a discussion board is really brave of you. Now go study for your TAKS test. -
Kountze (9-0)at Hardin(8-1)? tonight

they are both good teams, but given the homecourt advantage, I say Hardin in 4, maybe 5. -

Runitup...go and read the post I made already (the one above yours) and read the next to last paragraph... I typed "But all that is moot, Buna won...I am not disputing that." I was just putting my 2 cents in and you gotta be rude. > the only thing I was commenting on was that the officiating could have been better, but still do not dispute that Buna won outright...they are a very, very good running team and I wish them luck against EC. -

No, I have to disagree with you on that play b/c the player was holding the ball with both hands when his right foot went out past the 1st down marker (this was on the Hardin sideline) and he actually almost straddled the 1st down marker when the chain guy was a little late to drop it (like they are supposed to when a play comes that close to the sideline). Now if he was holding it with both hands and almost straddled the marker, then it stands to reason that the ball should have been placed in the middle of the line demarcated by the 1st down marker (if your reasoning that the spot is determined by the ball and not the foot is correct) and it becomes 1st down Hardin. I was almost directly across the track from that particular play. But all that is moot, Buna won...I am not disputing that... I am not pleased with some of the calls/spots the officials made, especially in that case. Due to bad spotting, it was a turnover on downs for Hardin since that was a 4th down play. You never know...that might have been the turnaround Hardin needed to maybe make another score and pull out an incredible comeback... ;D -
Sounds like someone meant to put a OB hit on the QB while on/near the sideline...if not, you need to watch your choice of words... I know the play you are talking about, but Haynes didn't touch the ball at all...he just pointed to the spot past the 1st down marker and basically said, "It should be a first down..." He never touched the ball at all... Just my 2 cents...alright...now lets stick to the topic like NedDog said...

Kountze Lions vs. Hardin Hornets
highsky replied to LionHeart's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
kvillecheer, you just don't understand...granfan made the comment about Kountze has the heart and desire to win and I was just simply pointing out that so does Hardin. I haven't heard one comment by a Kountze fan that says they are giving Hardin any respect except for maybe the one by aTm_1989 that the KTZ secondary better show up. It seems like that KTZ is like "yeah, Buna done run over Hardin and we barely lost to Buna so we are going to beat Hardin, yeah, yeah..." It doesn't matter what one team did against another team in the past, what matters is the Friday night. It's like the movie says, except it is "Any Given Friday". Let's keep the respect mutual and not one-sided. Again I reiterate, the past doesn't matter, only the now.... For those of you that still want to state their opinions based on past games ad nauseam, ehhh, I can't convince you anyways, b/c you are always right (in your own mind). -

I know we got beat and beat by the better team that night, and I am not blaming the officials as a whole, but some of the spotting could have been done better. Of course, Hardin fans predicted victory because they are Hardin fans, not Buna fans. -

Kountze has the heart and desire to win???? And Hardin doesn't???? Yes, Buna beat them 49-32, but the score at halftime was 35-6 in favor of Buna....the Hardin boys didn't back down...they tried to come back but just ran out of time...Hardin didn't "give in to them" so I call Hardin wins 28-12. -

Yes, Buna does have a great team but I concur on the bad spotting by the refs. We had a 4th down play in which our receiver caught the ball then went out of bounds. His right foot went out before the left foot did and his right foot was past the 1st down marker. I had an excellent view of that play and the ref went to where his left foot did, instead of the right. That made it a turnover on downs for Hardin. Yes, some of the passes the Hardin receivers should have been caught, but that would only have made it 500 yards passing instead of 422. It was the run game that sputtered. -

What's wrong with being positive???? If you have to make fun of someone trying to be positive after a loss, you are a twisted person.... -
I will give Buna their props and say they looked very good on offense tonight. That is some good running by Buna. #7 was very quick off the ball and #20 was very shifty. Hardin did not make the tackle at first contact and that kills a team when it happens a lot. If Buna plays EC like they played Hardin, EC better bring their A game...

Kountze Lions vs. Hardin Hornets
highsky replied to LionHeart's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
From what I saw in the Buna-Hardin game, Buna has a very good running team, however, even the good teams have an off day and I suspect this is what happened in the Buna/Kountze game. Maybe Buna was expecting it to be easy and let their guard down and Kountze showed them. However, this only showed everyone else not to take Kountze lightly. After the Buna/Hardin game, Hardin is going to take everyone seriously. I also seem to remember hearing that maybe Buna fumbled a lot in the game with Kountze. That is enough to throw a team off its feed. Also, if you make that argument about holding "Buna that low", Hardin scored more against Buna than you did. So there.... -

Ok, I'll bite...if Kountze has a defense that is better than Buna's..how come Kountze lost to Buna?? Besides, whsalum is saying "a little too much speed"; he is not saying that Kountze is slow...he is saying that Hardin has players that are faster than Kountze's players. To rephrase that, Kountze is fast but not quite fast enough. Buna is pretty fast, but not fast enough to contain Marsh when he caught the ball tonight. Plus, to the person who quoted that Kountze has the district champs in track, that was last year.... ;D -
Come on bob, don't be ridiculous!!! All you are doing is trying to stir the pot...I think it will be a good ol' fashioned shootout!! Both teams have things that could help them win so it is actually a game which I call an "either/or" game. Either Hardin will win or Buna will win.... Please spare me the argument that every game is an "either/or" game... Alot of times you can guess which team will win...this one, I can't even begin to guess who wins...although I hope it is Hardin. ;D
-
sure about that? It took the Lionettes 5 games to down Hardin on their own turf. The next game is in Hardin... I would be careful about using "lay the smack down" phrase b/c that usually comes back to bite ya!!!
-
probably because Buccaneers are pirates and pirates always have parrots. ;D don't slam me, I'm just trying to guess why the guy thinks EC is birdies...or he could be making a play on words with the "Buc" part because some birds go "Buc, Buc". Heck, I don't know....I'm not a psychologist. ???

The bad thing about Homecomings is the distraction it offers to the home players. There is usually a lot of things going on during Homecoming week and that can be a factor that works against a team. Now I don't think Buna will be unfocused, but I do think it will be a good game. Sorry, I had commented earlier about "your margin of victory"...I got you confused with BCoogs08 so if Hardin does lose then I think it will be by your score then. But then again, I still think Hardin wins. ;D
-
that is not what I said. I said that I found it interesting that Hardin had more yards total offense than Buna and that I think that it will be a tougher test than ya'll Buna fans are thinking. It was just a comment on a fact. Nowhere did I say that the team with the most yards wins. Just about every one of the Buna supporters puts Buna in a blowout like 42-14, 35-14, 42-26, etc. Yes, I am a Hardin supporter and notice that, even though I think Hardin will win, my picked score is much closer in margin of victory than yours, e.g. Hardin 34-28. I just happen to think it will be the toughest test for Buna's defense so far this year, and vice versa...Buna will be the best team they have yet played until EC comes around.
-
if anyone wants to compare the two teams statistically, go to [Hidden Content] scroll down and look on the left and find "District 24-2A" and click on the team of your choice and it will take you to the stats for that team. I find it interesting that Hardin has outgained Buna by 1,000 yards on total offense. I think this will be a tougher test than what Buna fans think...at least defensively for the Coogs. I pick Hardin 34, Buna 28 Come on now, don't give the "didn't play very well" excuse....Look at the Hardin/Anahuac game, the game appeared to be well in hand with 2-3 minutes left to play with Hardin leading 42-20 and Anahuac did not have a bit of quit in them and stormed back. Both teams played well in that game. Hardin for the majority of the game then Anahuac for the last 3 minutes...whew!!!

I don't know about the entire secondary, but maxpreps.com has Craft with 6 INTs on the year, good enough for #1 in state in that category (according to maxpreps anyway). The only thing I find curious about Craft is that his maxpreps profile lists him as 5'6" tall. Someone else posted on another thread that he has a 30"+ vertical. This may account for his INTs but Marsh is close to 6 ft (if not already) and his vertical is extremely high (not sure what it is, but he can dunk and he did dunk the football over the crossbars one time after a score). If Craft is put on him, Marsh has the extra length to pluck the ball out of the sky. Anyway, that is my hope...but Buna is a darn good team and it will be a dandy.
