I have seen the yellow card twice.  First time in the playoffs several years ago, an excellent player for one team was taunting the other team after a dramatic kill.  She should have received a red for continuing the behavior, but officials will hesitate before they issue a red because it usually involves paperwork and/or a trip to Austin.  Saw the 2nd yellow on a coach complaining about disparity of calls between teams a couple of years ago.  In my opinion, the coach was in the right because the official in question was following unwritten club rules where some lifting is allowed, but it was a high school match and lifting is strictly verboten.  Regarding the difference between club play and high school play, I get frustrated with officials because they can't seem to separate between the two.  Several of the larger schools in the area have access to club volleyball but the majority of the smaller schools (1A/2A) don't have club players.  The only volleyball they play is for their school and they are taught to pass, set and hit in a certain way and they don't understand when another team (that has club players) gets away with a lift because the official also officiates club volleyball.  I am not downing officials but it is a peeve of mine.

[/quote] the article said the previous logo (which just said BALL) was in use for 2 years.  Somehow, I don't think 2 years constitutes a tradition, unless people have a short-term memory.  That being said, logos don't win ball games.  Players and coaches win ball games.  Once the hitting starts, everybody will forget about the logo (at least until the game is over.)

[/quote] Surprised me too but was more surprised by the fact that a coach was promoted from middle school straight to the HC/AD job.  It is a little different managing a junior high team than it is to coach a HS varsity team.  He may have coached these players in JH but players change over time.  It's not a matter of plug and play based on previous knowledge, especially if that knowledge (of players) is outdated.  This is one advantage a coach already on the varsity staff has over a JH coach.  Watching them from the stands on Friday nights is not the same as actually coaching them every day in practice. This is not a knock against Hartsfield as I simply don't know the man or how he operates.  The above scenario is how I would look at things from a board member perspective.  It may be that Hartsfield really knocked their socks off in the interview, considering that Haynes and Foreman interviewed as well.

Hardin wins in 3 over Deweyville. Congratulations to the Lady Hornets. They finished regular season play with a 25-3 overall record. They also are District Champs with a 12-0 record. Congrats also to the Hardin JV who finished with a 20-0 record for the season. Good luck to the Lady Hornets and everyone else who enters the playoffs.

My bad, I thought I had heard or read that Buna beat EC at least once. Still, this is going to be a strong chance that Buna makes the playoffs for thefirst time in a long while

I think its Hardin first, Buna second then EC third.

The only ones I would place any stock in are maybe the first 3 spots. Its about who the coaches or admins know to get their teams ranked (mostly). The only rankings that matter happen at the end of the season, when the state championships are done.
