  1. Per his Hudl account he handled kickoffs, field goals and punts [Hidden Content]
  2. A Lamar coach was in the building tonight...Forney might have very well earned himself an offer. Did Hines get hurt on Memorial’s last drive? He went out after he was tackles for a loss and didn’t come back in.
  3. Hearing Bryan Spell will be the OC
  4. Former LC-M Battlin' Bear Alex Sezer was recently presented with the Male Distuguished Letterman Award at Texas A&M. This award is the highest award presented to A&M student athletes annually. [Hidden Content]
  5. This is correct. Davis may have gotten a recommendation from Gillian but in the end it was Davis' hire. With Davis retaining Scott Hatten, Green essentially replaced Gillian as the 3rd paid coach on staff.
  6. This might be the least discussion on the WRS award winners in site history...
  7. I have heard the same...big trouble
  8. As far as the FOI applications...just because the act is worded that an entity has 10 days to respond doesn't mean that have to give up all their info...they have ways around it. I know for a fact that there was a FOI filed 3+ weeks before Lamar announced their new coach...LU never turned over a list of applicants...
  9. FWIW I have heard Bryan Spell did NOT apply for the AD position
  10. Committed to Lamar this afternoon. Joins fellow Mustang Jack Dallas as LU commits.
  11. For those asking, I had been told LN was set to go on a vacation starting the day after the news broke so that may be why there hasn't been a statement...or he took it then so this could die down some by the time he returned and not have as much to deal with...
  12. There are also some family issues that I won't discuss that I'm sure factored into this as well. Someone earlier mentioned that Coach Crommett put in his retirement as well...he is in the same boat in this from what I've been told. As far a Coach Delbert Spell, I had been told that he was set to retire last year but wanted one more year with Brian...so I'm not surprised a bit by them.
  13. I posted it then edited it to remove it until is saw KFDM run with it. After that I knew it would get here so I redited it
  14. Yes I just saw they had posted it too...I've reedited the OP
  15. Got confirmation and KFDM has posted it as well that Larry Neumann will retire at the end of the month
  16. Apparently this is a real thing. [Hidden Content] WO-S is a 14.5 point Favorite over Sweetwater...if I was a betting man I'd unload on WO-S
  17. Curious if the coaches who are also ADs had that portion of their salaries included as well. Guess it may depend on the contract wording I feel the AD position is payed seperately. Article I found on Westerberg when he was hired said he would make 130-150 a year so at minimum he would be top-3.
  18. What are tomorrow's lotto numbers?
  19. Sean Weatherspoon was the most successful player I remember Jordan Patton and Gilbert Moye both at QB...Moye was just a Sophomore IIRC and was tough to stop running the ball...wasn't a very effective passer and if you saw Patton taking the snap you could bet it was a pass...Patton was still on the field though somewhere even if it wasn't at QB...was at the state game when they fell to Gilmer and it was an epic battle. Think there was a Bronson kid on the team as well
  20. What I just heard is Fernandez has a concussion...he's taken a couple hard licks and he looked wobbly after one of them
  21. One big reason Lamar has trouble landing local talent is that 17-18 year old kids want to get out and experience college life and you can't blame them for that. Another reason is that they aren't going to compete with FBS team for most kids FBS teams are after...I feel like they are going a good job at snagging the under the radar guys from SETX though and some have already showed they belong. Rodney Randle from Ozen comes immediately to mind...believe Lamar was his only offer and he ended up becoming a starter at CB and KR as a freshman. Got arguably the areas best QB from last year, one of the top RBs and a do it all in Adam Morse, Austin Krautz and Kendrick King last signing class. Looks like Morse will RS this year, Krautz has seen action in all 3 games so far and King broke camp in the 2-deep at WR and caught his first TD last week. They have also been successful in getting local kid to come home if things don't work out as planned at FBS schools. McNeese has an absolute strangle hold on Newton especially if your last name is Foster. The only Newton player I can recall signing with Lamar was Ramando Stewart, however he only lasted 1 season before he was no longer with the team.
  22. Committed to both Lamar football and baseball
  23. Seemed like a few years ago every crew had a microphone for the Nederland games...now they never have them. Is it up to the school to provide them or is it up to the individual crews to have them?
  24. As a college football fan I hated to see the targeting penalty put into play. I completely agree with the objective though and I was shocked that it wasn't called. Officials are supposed to err on the side of caution and throw the flag if it appears to even potentially be targeting...then they automatically review it. This year, college football took an additional step to allow the replay booth to stop play and review a potential targeting foul if it wasn't initially called on the field. I'd say that rule isn't off to a good start. You can't tell me that in all that time when Hunter was laid out on the ground the officials couldn't have taken another look at it. If the replay official did and deemed it legal and no need to stop the action then I would hope he would be reprimanded. That was a text book targeting foul.
