  1. EC Nana has read all of your comments concerning EC vs Franklin.  I don't know much about Franklin other than what I have heard from others comments, but I do know that both teams must have talent or they wouldn't be where they are in the playoffs; however, they are all just young guys playing a sport they love & even the high dollar professional football players have bad games.....one thing that I do know is how much heart our Senior BUCS have; most of them have played sports together since 7th grade & they are not only a team, they are friends.  No matter the outcome, they will have added another memory to their high school years.  The BUCS showed their teamwork last week against Troup in the double OT; both teams made lots of mistakes which could have cost either of them the game.  No matter who wins, we enjoy watching'em play!!    I hope all of the Franklin players & coaches eat way too much turkey, dressing & desserts so they will be miserable Friday night & unable to concentrate on beating EC! GO BUCS!!!!
  2. EC Nana.    I was hoping kvillecats would show up & sit with us last nite.  Kirbyville played tough.    Mixed it up with running & passing.  Glad EC won & Glen ran hard as usual.  Quite a team effort from offense & defense.  Hope next weeks game is another EC victory.  I love to win & have never been part of a State win but over the years I have learned that trophy cases just collect dust.    They aren't the true prizes in life.      If Woodville &. Kirbyville play like they did against EC.    Kirbyville should win
  3. Purple Eagle.......Hopefully, we will be a tad more versatile in our play calling should Kirbyville be able to stop Glen.  I will be happy to buy your dinner one evening if EC loses to Kirbyville...... (kvillecats....I will have on an EC shirt with Cody #5 on the back should you decide to look me up).  We can talk smak for 4 quarters; I'm sure both teams will have some highs & lows...... just like last week's Broncos & Charger game.  GO BUCS!!
  4. EC Nana........I certainly hope that Kirbyville has all their players back & healthy so that there will be no excuses as to why EC wins.  We definitely took a BBB last week from Newton, but we are still a good football team.  Everyone says that Glen Roberts is all we've got, but that's not true.  Glen is an exceptional athlete & definitely exceeds his share of the responsibility in every game.  The players can only run the plays that are called, but we have other very capable running backs & receivers.  In a recent post, I had asked Kvillecats to sit with me at our game Friday night...I haven't seen a response.....I think it will be a good game but I believe EC will win.  Hope both teams do their best & all the players end the game healthy.  GO BUCS!!
  5. EC Nana.........This week, (not next week),we would love to see Kountze win, but after seeing how amazing Newton is, I don't see it happening....but I wouldn't wish a BBB on any team.  It's one thing to lose & another to get hammered.......I guess Newton just had 2 years of revenge built up for EC because they haven't pounded any other team in the District like that so far....hope they got it out of their system.......good luck to all the teams....hope everyone ends the season healthy.  I am looking for EC to only have the 1 loss in District play.    WE support the Kountze cheerleaders & their stand for God!!!
  6. (EC Nana).......I have been reading all the comments about last night's game.....I, too, was shocked from the first 16 seconds.....Newton has unbelievable talent, speed & depth, but EC also has much more than what we showed.....the team can only run the plays that are called and, being human, we all make mistakes.....ours were very costly....but I am still proud of the BUCS & the fact that even tho our crowd didn't have lots of points to cheer about, the fans continued to encourage the team...I, too, am not a supporter of running up the score, but I didn't see much that could be done....you can't tell'em not to pick up the fumble & run it in.....the 2nd down field goal attempt was a first for me...have never seen that before.....but it was a little too late & EC wasn't asking for favors.......I don't recognize any of you who comment on this site, but I would love to sit beside kvillecats at next week's game.....will probably be interesting.....EC was picked to be in the playoffs this year & I 'still believe'......so BUCS, concentrate on the rest of this season & get pumped up to beat Kirbyville......WE BELIEVE IN YOU!!!
  7. Thank you for your comments about Coach Barbay.  That's exactly what kind of coach I thought he had been.  We had coaches like that when I grew up & a few like that when my kids grew up.  Now that my grandkids (EC Bucs) play ball , I really appreciate those kind of coaches.  Hamshire Fannett has been blessed this year with a new Christian head coach & assistants.    We will see ya'll Friday night for a hopefully very exciting game!  GO BUCS!!
  8. As an EC Nana, I was very excited to see the BUCS beat Newton the past 2 years.  The year that Newton lost their longtime Coach was such a heartbreaker to see the players so upset after the game.  I know they wanted to win it for him.  I have heard what a great coach he was & I would like to hear from some of you that play/played for him, coached with him or against him or just knew him as a person; what in your opinion made him a great coach.  I know to some people, it's all about winning, but as a mother & grandmother, even tho I love to win, I look for other characteristics from the coaches.  My prediction for this week's game is: the team with the least mistakes will win; both teams are talented offensively & defensively & they both want the win.
  9. Most of the Seniors on EC's Varsity football team have played sports together since 7th grade & have been undefeated a major portion of that time.  These guys may not all be the biggest or the fastest but they have proven time after time that they have heart.  It is a pleasure to watch them participate not only in football, but basketball, baseball & track.  With a big dose of positive reinforcement (from the 'powers that be'), calling the right plays & determination from each player, I believe we will still be one of the District contenders.  Wish we could have won against Hardin Jefferson, but that team was ready to play last week & win their homecoming.  Every one of their guys gave their all (even Homecoming King #10). GO BUCS!!!!  EC Nana
