You're getting your facts wrong. Abbott has spent $12M sending several thousand illegal immigrants to sanctuary cities. DeSantis spent $615,000 to send the immigrants to Martha's Vineyard. That said, it would've been more expensive for both states to pay to take care of them, so it's kind of funny to me how the cost of transporting them is the libs' big talking point.

Rush is NOT a better qb than Dak, but he’s certainly showing how much Dak was overpaid -
Is it time for 1 High school in Beaumont?

A lot of them still do, but that number drops significantly in middle school and high school. -
Yup. I tied for last with 18

Beaumont has social dynamics that would never allow it to work. -

But I still repeat, the west end folks aren’t sending their kids across town to ozen, and where do you place the high school that doesn’t have half the district traveling all the way across town to go to school? -

Where do you put the school? The west end Wandas aren’t sending their kids over to the pear orchard, and I don’t even want to talk about the very valid firestorm that would erupt if you start trying to bus kids of color 30 minutes across town to the west Brook campus, which is the only BISD property that could logistically support a high school with almost 5,000 kids. -

As an HF fan, I’m happy with the direction the program is going. Waggoner seems to be getting the most out of this team the last few seasons. 8-4 last year, with two of those loses being by 1 point to Silsbee and to Carthage in the playoffs, and 4-2 this year with 1-score losses to two really good teams. HF is pretty unlucky to be in a district with Jasper, Silsbee, AND WOS. That’s how a team who’s good enough to finish 2nd in most district ends up 4th, and out in the 1st round of the playoffs -

So to be clear, your suggestion is that BISD, who’s district encompasses 153 sq miles, should spend tens of millions of dollars to either add on to or build a new school to house 4500 students together in order to field a better team in one sport? Would you suggest buying the nonexistent land in the middle of Beaumont to do this so it’s only 15 minutes away from your major populations of kids, or just add on to one of the preexisting schools and force half of your population to commute 20 miles across town everyday? -

This is something people are kind of overlooking. This has been a tough preseason schedule, like it always is for them. A close loss to Newton, who most recently beat them in 2019 and the year before as well. Silsbee beat them those seasons as well, and this year has their best team in however long. They lost to Nederland last year, who didn’t even make the playoffs, and have dropped a game or two predistrict almost every season for the last several years. They could’ve easily scheduled some cream puffs and started the year 5-0 and nobody would be batting and eye. It’s going to take some time to see how this new system is going to work, and hopefully they’re going to figure some stuff out and work on some of the issues they’re having. There’s still a very reasonable chance that they’ll go 7-3, or maybe 6-4 and then go a few rounds deep in the playoffs. If they go 5-5 and get busted first round I’ll be a little more inclined to agree with some of the stuff I’m seeing said.

I say this nicely as well: I would argue that speculation on a player and coach’s future where nothing but good things are being said about them is a far cry from the threads criticizing players and coaches that many don’t seem to think should be locked. But as far as I know there’s not a rule talking about a player’s future.

I agree Anahuac is an upgrade, but I still think to a degree when it comes to HS football, he'll still be somewhat limited in his ability to make a real run at BIG success there. That said, you're talking like you know the family well, and if so you obviously have more insight than me. Also, if Brady continues with the meteoric rise that so many on here are predicting, the odds of his dad getting an AD offer from a quality 5A/6A program in the next three years is approximately 100%. When you talk about "doing something to Brady", the kid might be more than willing to go play bigtime high school football at a winning 6A program if given the opportunity.
-
If people are talking about him being a top-10 qb in the country, or even just the state, by the time he's a senior, he should be starting basically anywhere he goes. And I understand that Anahuac and Hardin are around the same distance from Houston. But I'm willing to bet there are several area schools that are much farther from houston that would've happily made a spot for the coach on their staff in larger classifications and with higher profile programs.
-
People might need to tap the brakes on Anahuac having 4 straight deep playoff runs under him as well. If the kid lives up to anything near the expectations of many on here he'll be gone from Anahuac after next year. His dad left Hardin to give him a better chance at success at Anahuac already. Notice he found a landing spot that's close to Houston? You think he won't bolt Anahuac when his kid's a junior to get him two seasons as a starter at a good 6A school, as well as a large pay raise for himself? He'll be gone next year if the right opportunity presents itself.

kinda like bridge city having an extra week to prepare for them in basketball... it just won't matter.
