Nice fight back -
True, then they lost in the first round of the playoffs to a 6-4 team by 3 scores.
-
Lumberton was a 6-5 team last year, and this year they’re 3-1 with one pretty good win. I think they’re a top-20 team. Their only quality win is against another over-ranked team, who I happen to cheer for, and work for the district, so I’m not being biased here. If they’d won against their only really good opponent, rather than losing by three touchdowns, I’d be okay with their ranking. As it is, they’re over ranked, and I don’t really know what criteria Dave Campbell is using to rank them so high. This is taking nothing away from the raiders, who have a good team, probably their best in quite some time. But there’s a big difference between being a good team and being ranked 7th in the state.

Yikes -
Were you at the meetings when WOS had a C rating in 2019 (no ratings the last two years with COVID), but had a better football team? Or is the B they got in 2022 only a problem because the football team is struggling? Honest question. Because if you ask me, bringing their academic rating up from a C to a B despite the challenges of learning through COVID is quite an accomplishment, and should be celebrated.

They are, but that’s always a crapshoot. St. Thomas was ranked last year as well, and then lost their first round playoff game to a 4-7 team that lost THEIR next game by 40. Lumberton is a good team this year, but they’re still over ranked. Their schedule is pretty soft, so they have a really good shot at finishing the regular season 8-2, with an okay shot at 9-1. They go undefeated in a mediocre district, and are 9-1 going to the playoffs, I’m good with a #7 ranking. I think they get handily beat by any of the 6 teams above them, though, as well as the top 8 in 4A-D2.

TBH I don't think HF or Lumberton are top ten teams right now. Top 25, sure, but not top-10. HF is 3-1 with two wins over pretty good 3A teams and one 4A team who is abysmal. Lumberton's best win was when they squeaked by HF, and their other two wins are against incredibly weak teams with a combined 1-7 record. They also got soundly beat by St. Thomas, who is a solid team, but not one who should be beating top-10 teams by 20.

I kinda think it’s part of the strategy. Make him look like a terrifying egotistical maniac (not really that hard to do, tbh), and ensure that your base is still rallied to get out and vote against him. They don’t have a good candidate, but they didn’t last election either, and were able to win by not being trump. If it worked once, why not double down and try it again?

I would think so. She could take over a game, but wasn’t a selfish player. She made the whole team better, it wasn’t just a one-woman show. ESPN had her as the 16th ranked player in the entire country last year. You don’t lose a player like that and not drop off. That said, there’s a lot of talent left there, and some players that will get bigger roles now that can pick up some of the slack. I don’t think they’ll be rebuilding this year, but I don’t know that they’ll have quite enough to make it to state championship game again.

I truly believe the dems have a better shot of beating trump, and they know it. Here’s my reasoning: literally every trump voter out there will vote for Desantis. Nobody who supports Trump policy will look at Desantis and not like what he stands for. Not only would Desantis hold true to every conservative action that Trump would take, he’s an actual conservative. The difference between the two is that the left is not going to mobilize their apathetic voters to get out and vote AGAINST Desantis the way they will against trump, and Desantis will also pull more of the moderate swing vote. It’s a weird deal, because I have a feeling that trump would beat Desantis in the primaries, and Desantis likely won’t even choose to run against him, but in an actual presidential election Desantis will perform better.

seems unrelated, and also, as someone who's a proponent of immigration reform, I still think this is a brilliant move by DeSantis and Abbott.

Republicans' choice for 2024 should be abundantly clear (msn.com)
-
I don't think they have a great chance against any of them, but at least have a shot at competing against any or all of them. out of the 3, I'd say it seems like Jasper and WOS are 1a and 1b right now.

Lady Cards are 6-0-1 and have only given up 3 goals in 7 games. This is shaping up to be far and away the best season in their history. They better get it done, because they're going to graduate 10+ key players, including 7-8 starters.
-
The district is insane. HF is playing very well, but I'll be thrilled if they can go 1-2 against those three teams.
-
If BU or WB were a better option for her then perhaps he would've moved her to beaumont, but as it is they are not.
-
Yeah, I'll agree with you that it would be a fun matchup this year.

And HJ won by 27. Sneed and Beavers were both substantially better last year than the year before when HJ and BH played, and they still had Ashlon Jackson, who had offers from basically every major college in the country. I’m not usually one to play the common opponents game, but when HJ beats a team by 84 that barbers hill beat by 5, that has to tell you something. HJ beat another team by 83 that BH beat by 15. Almost the entire hawks preseason schedule was against 6A, and many of those were ranked, and they won several of those games. I’m not going back to figure it up, but I went through it last season and they had something like 4 wins against ranked 6A opponents and another 2 against ranked 5A opponents. They also had a couple of wins against ranked teams from other states, including the #1 team in all of Colorado at the time. Barbers Hill had a good team last year, but wouldn’t have even been in the top ten toughest opponents HJ played. Their schedule was full of close wins (and a few losses) against average teams. I didn’t realize Carter was back this year, which definitely makes a big difference, but last year against Ashlon Jackson and the hawks BH loses by 30.
-
Yes, it most likely does. HJ would’ve beaten BH by 30+ last year. I still think they’d beat them comfortably this year, but we’ll never know.

Hey, I never hunt around here. Just had a buck with his nose to ground following 30 seconds behind a doe in my field. You ever see rutting activity this early? I’ve heard it happens sooner down here than up north, but this seems very early. We usually see ours around the 2nd week of November in NETX where my lease is.
