  1. Winnsboro was 4-6 and 2-8 in the two years before he arrived, then he went 9-5, 7-3, and 6-4. Seems like he did a heck of a job, although he doesn't look close to satisfying your mandatory state championship in 7 years requirement.
  2. you know, I've always kinda thought it was funny when people talk about how bad things are now, and how good they used to be. Looking back in our country's short history, and seeing all of the violence and lawlessness of the wild wild west and displacement of native americans, slavery and violence towards african americans, all the gangster stuff in the first half of the 20th century, the drug/gang wars of the 80s-2000s, I have a hard time figuring how things were that much better at any point in the past apart from certain people being able to openly discriminate/hate groups of people they didn't like. Now don't get me wrong, there's a lot of woke nonsense that I don't like these days, but actual violent acts are no more common or senseless than they always have been, and our behavior as a society doesn't really seem much worse either.
  3. they've been talking plenty about stuffing the supreme court, and went above and beyond to try and remove trump from office for nonsensical reasons. does that tell you anything at all about who the democrats are, or are you one of those folks who only cares when the other side does something unethical to win? (and yes, there are plenty of repubs in this thread that are just as bad)
  4. WaPo columnist rips media dismissal of Hunter Biden: We aren't trusted because we aren't entirely trustworthy (msn.com)
  5. No. Still no. Just like with PNG, and every other time you've asked this same question on all of the different threads you've asked it. None of those coaches, or even those coaches working together could bring Tarkington a state championship in ten years. Would the team's record improve? Yes. Would they make the playoffs, and maybe even win a playoff game or two? Yeah, that would happen. But no, they're not going to take a team with almost no talent pool and turn them into a powerhouse. The ONLY way that one of these coaches could turn a school with few athletes and minimal community support into a powerhouse would be if they took a job in Houston or Dallas ISD, and could actively recruit players from other schools in the city (and get away with it). Likewise, any example you bring up from 10-15 (or more) years ago where a coach came in and turned things around are now a null and void argument, because those teams didn't have to face these dallas and houston all-star teams, and kids were still held to the requirement of playing for the schools they're supposed to be zoned to.
  6. This happened less than a quarter mile from my house. Interested to hear the whole story. He’s been arrested, but I’m hearing the shooter was another young woman from crystal beach.
  7. It’s all good. You’re free to express your feelings (within the rules), just as they are.
  8. might be time to find another hobby. again, where is your source for this nonsense idea. I know you did not come up with this "brilliant" plan on your own.
  9. both sides have done a ton of this over the last several years, blocking justices, attempting to stack courts, trying to steal votes through redistricting, etc. the thought that either side, when in power, would cheat to gain more power is terrifying to me.
  10. where's your source that this would be "legal." this looks an awful lot like something someone would find on a viral fb meme. also, like cardinal stated, what crime would the republican controlled house and senate be impeaching Biden and Harris for? Ineffectiveness isn't a crime. being terrible at your job isn't a crime. being a democrat isn't a crime.
  11. AKA- i'm totally okay with republicans making a mockery of political process and democracy to usurp power, but if the left does it then it's time for a war. the right likes to claim superiority over the left when it comes to behavior, but then tries to justify crap like this with examples from the left.
  12. you've been (ineffectively) beating this dead horse for months. PNG DOES NOT have the talent to win a state championship in 5A, HAS NOT HAD the talent to win it in 5A, and WILL NOT be getting the talent to win a state championship in 5A. Bellichek isn't winning a state championship if he comes down from New England to coach them. Nobody is blaming the kids or the coach. It's reality. Now lets get back on topic.
  13. I just read this whole thread, and there was literally one comment on the very first page like the ones you're describing that was completely out of line, and that poster had already received a warning from another moderator. The problem with threads like this is that some people can't handle any negativity about their communities and programs. This thread contains a lot of truths surrounding the shortcomings ofTarkington football (which would also hold true to several other struggling programs in the area, including my alma mater), and some folks get defensive and don't want to hear it. Apart from the one comment about inbreeding, for which the poster had already received a warning (I went back and just deleted the post), there's very little on here that criticizes the community or the school beyond issues pertaining to the football field. I couldn't find a single post about an individual player or coach that was out of line, and just the one about the community as a whole that crossed the line. Tarkington has averaged about 2 wins a year for the last decade. Honest talk about the program, and what they've done (and haven't done) to improve that is not "downgrading the kids and community".
  14. For what it's worth, the rules about bashing coaches and players only apply to local high school coaches and players. Nobody cares if you want to talk crap about college or pro coaches and players.
  15. I thought this was a great post until you poured all this salt on it.
  16. i had 4 soccer coaches in 4 years when I was there, which was a shame, because we actually had a pretty good team. It's always tough for them to keep a good soccer coach. McDermand was really good, but left mostly due to the lack of support that soccer gets there. Since then he's done a hell of a job building the Huffman program.
