  1. Great win for the Hawks. Argyle was red hot and HJ was sluggish in the first half. To be honest from what I saw HJ was 15-20 points better than them. Glad they were able to pull it out. Time to bring home the championship. They should've had one already.
  2. Just able to turn the game back on at work. assuming the press started working?
  3. Down 8 they're going to have to press some, or Argyle will bleed a minute off the clock every possession.
  4. Hawks down 9-3 early. Argyle breaking their press without even dribbling, just passing around it.
  5. it's great coaching and great fundamental basketball. What makes HJ so unstoppable is their relentless press, and having 4-5 girls on the court at all time that can bring the ball up on the break. Teams like Argyle and Canyon (and maybe 1-2 more 4A schools statewide) have multiple girls that can handle the pressure and break the press. When you can break the press consistently you end up with easy baskets consistently. Both of those teams also have a well-run, slow and methodical offense that will shorten games. If you let HJ run all game they'll wear you down and win. If you cut the amount of possessions their all-American gets in half you greatly increase your chance of winning.
  6. I'll be shocked if it's by that much. Even with a less galvanizing candidate from the left, I'd expect his margin to be tighter than last time after lockdowns and ERCOT.
  7. I agree. A LOT of conservatives are fine with legalization at this point, and there are too many new democrats in the state to think the right doesn't need the libertarian and moderate vote to get elected.
  8. this is a problem on both the far right and far left... anyone who doesn't align with you can't have different opinions, they're just uninformed or too stupid to see things the "right" way. and when you start ignoring these "uninformed" moderates, you start losing elections.
  9. I'm afraid this is a very real possibility. I'm hoping Beto becomes what Trump was for the left... motivation to get out and vote against somebody.
  10. absolutely. how big of a deal would it be if making alcohol illegal was on the ballot. Pot may not be that big, but it's close to that big. It's a huge deal for the majority of voters under the age of 40.
  11. Normally I'd say he doesn't have a chance, but things are lining up to make this election too close for comfort. Beto has moved from basing his campaign on gun control to marijuana legalization. this is the one issue that gives him a chance. Abbott won the last election by about 13%, which is a wide margin, but nowhere near the 20% win that Perry had in 2014. There are a lot of libertarians out there, and most of them vote republican or waste their vote on the libertarian candidate, but almost all of them are major proponents of marijuana legalization (in fact, that's why many of them are libertarians instead of republicans). If a good portion of the libertarian vote goes left it will tighten up the race considerably. Add to that the fact that there are many on the right who aren't big abbott fans, and may not get out to vote, and also that the left is excited about Beto and will be out in force, and this vote could be scary. There's also the fact that our demographics are changing in the state, and most of the influx will vote democrat. What are your thoughts? I know Beto is a clown, but I'm worried he might have a winning strategy here. Even many staunch conservatives on the site here think marijuana should be legalized. I know that won't make them vote for him, but it might be time for the right to embrace legalization as well and quit bleeding votes to the left over one issue that's been settled in many states already.
  12. On paper this is an easy win. I think BU got the wakeup call they needed and wins comfortably. I'll say 71-49.
  13. Republican wins Jefferson County Justice of the Peace Precinct 4 | 12newsnow.com Was hoping Molfino would pull this one out. He's very active in the community, and has a lot of law enforcement experience. This was kind of a weird election: a guy with zero experience but the right last name vs. a guy with tons of experience, but a couple of questionable things in his history.
  14. Connally is good, and they've played a good, solid schedule. Silsbee should win, but they're going to need to step it up from what they've done so far in the playoffs. if the Tigers team that struggled to put Furr away, and that could've easily lost to Yates, is the one that shows up, Connally has more than enough to send them home.
  15. I think you misread something. smitty claimed that new polls state that 50% of african americans want to impeach biden. the source was the gateway pundit, and this obviously isn't true. BG replied to this post with "bullcrap." which of course it is. Very few African Americans want to impeach biden. Which is the only reason I said she's not wrong with her assessment. Nothing in my statement defends Biden. As an aside, you also just quoted me in another thread where I'm making fun of biden.
  16. to be fair, she probably figured that if that explanation was good enough for the president, it was probably good enough for the American people as well.
  17. to be fair, she's definitely not wrong on that argument.
  18. Watched the first half, got busy with my kids and missed the second. What a crazy game! I got scared just reading the game thread!
  19. 2-25 is about as unpleasant as it gets. I hope that the Cards turn it around next year. They have a long way to go. I get that they've been hit hard by covid and injuries, but that's a valid excuse for most teams at this point. Getting Adams to come back next year is a good start.
