  1. it's a lot easier to talk on these issues with such certainty when you don't.
  2. Agree. Planned Parenthood is one of these places.
  3. Seems like you would've preferred nine old white guys telling women what they CANNOT do with their body?
  4. Maga isn't wrong, though. The vast majority of the people I know who are strongly pro-life are the same ones that are strongly against providing financial support for those babies after they're born.
  5. To me it’s kinda like the gun buyback programs. Nobody is turning in a gun for a little bit of money if they want the gun, and nobody is getting the shot for $100 that wasn’t already ready to get the shot. It’s unrealistic to offer a cash incentive large enough to convince someone who doesn’t want to get the shot. If you offered $1500, and someone could pay their house and car notes for a month, I could see someone changing their mind and getting the shot. But $100? That’s not going to make anybody take a shot that they already felt was so risky that they wouldn’t get it for free.
  6. Not an unreasonable response. I will say that if he wasn’t worried about winning the game as much as working on the things you say, I don’t know why he had the qb in risking injury when he could barely walk.
  7. 1. Depends on how bad the infraction is. 2. if it’s persistent 3. It’ll be the entire site, but I’ll be watching this forum closely because it accounts for the majority of these things. 4. Use common sense. I’m not going to get worked up over certain words not used in attacks. Idiot isn’t a bad word, but if you call another member that, it’s breaking site rules. Bunghole is probably okay, but again, not in a personal attack. F-word is one of those bad infractions listed in #1
  8. All good. As long as not directed in a personal attack against another member
  9. I watched the game. Crosby had one big play and one long drive (probably 65-70 of Jone's yards were on that drive). the entire game, and Crosby was behind by the time your QB was limping. Your best drive was when he was too hurt to pass and had to hand the ball off. Now maybe Crosby's offense sucks, but y'all really didn't do much of anything against Carthage's D. I'm not a fan of either team, but just an interested observer. I don't think Carthage has a defense that could stop Manvel, but they made Crosby look pedestrian, even after their offense gave y'all the ball 5 times in the first half, often with great field position.
  10. Pointless where this is going... please reference my new thread if you have any questions are concerns.
  11. Alright ladies and gentleman, we're going to get back to being respectful and following site rules. It's perfectly acceptable to have debates, even to criticize someone's position, without name calling and insults. When a topic is started, sometimes they can move in different directions, but people should not be bringing up arguments from other threads and intentionally derailing topics. There are a few members on here who like to start it, but several more who get drawn into it (it's happened to me from time to time myself). I don't care if you start it or not, I'm going to start issuing warnings, and if need be, bans. I don't care if it's a new member or someone who's been on the site for 10 years and has 20,000 posts. Words like moron, snowflake, dingleberry, idiot, etc. etc. etc. are going to start getting warnings. If someone calls you one, bite your tongue and let me handle it. Or don't, and get a warning yourself. I've really tried to let a lot of this slide because I think it's good for the site to have people from both sides of an argument talking and debating, but it's only good when people are respectful (or at least trying to make a point beyond calling someone stupid). Thanks in advance for your cooperation!
  12. I wasn't going to come back for more abuse, but when I found out I was guaranteed at least 4 right I figured I better take advantage. 1. Tomball Memorial 2. PA Memorial 3. North Shore 4. 13. I respect that, and also the fact that you can have a conversation about the subject without it devolving into an argument. I don't think they're super effective, but I personally believe they do help some. If, as the article states, schools that had mandatory mask mandates had 21% less cases, I feel like that's a pretty good result from the masks, and 20% is probably about how effective they are. But paired with other safety measures, I think they can help. This year, with no restrictions at the start of school, vs. last year with distancing, masks, desk shields, etc., there've literally been ten times more cases in schools in three weeks than we saw the entire last school year. That's not an exaggeration. Now, is that because Delta is more contagious, or is it because the governor has discouraged safety measures? I have a feeling it's a combination of the two.
  14. Why Isn’t Biden to Blame for COVID Deaths? (msn.com) I agree with a lot of this.
  15. I don't think masks are close to foolproof, but I believe they help some. I have a couple of issues with the article here: first, it's about a CDC study that they don't post a link to. I find that suspicious. When you click on most of their source links about studies in the articles on WND, it just sends you to other WND articles. It's not particularly reliable. Second, this quote is in the article: "The 21% lower incidence in schools that required mask use among students was not statistically significant compared with schools where mask use was optional," the CDC said. "This finding might be attributed to higher effectiveness of masks among adults, who are at higher risk for SARS-CoV-2 infection but might also result from differences in mask-wearing behavior among students in schools with optional requirements." I guess I don't know much about how scientific studies work, but I would think that a 21% difference would be extremely statistically significant. If your school has 50 cases for every 100 students, and my school has 29 cases for every 100, I'd say my school appears to be quite a bit safer. Also, why would differences in mask-wearing behavior among students in schools with optional requirements matter if the masks "don't make a difference."
  16. Honestly, I read this and it felt like a propaganda piece to promote vaccinations. Vaccinations are clearly helping people get through Covid with lesser symptoms, and are stopping some folks from getting infected, but I don’t think it’s even remotely possible to prove that all of these cases came from the teacher. The kids could’ve gotten it from anywhere. She could’ve given it to 2 kids and they passed it on. Clearly for that many kids to get sick in one class it was spread around, but who gave it to who? Who really knows? How could they prove this?
  17. Now I remember why I don’t do these things.
  18. I honestly don’t disagree with most of this, but I do think his stupid Twitter rants lost him the election. It pushed away a lot of swing voters, and when you have a country divided almost 50/50, you have to get the votes that toe that middle line. His obnoxiousness also pushed apathetic democratic voters to the polls, that weren’t excited enough to get out and vote for Biden, but annoyed/angered enough to get out and vote against trump. That said, I thought he did a decent job, and I lean more right than left, so I would definitely prefer to have him in office right now instead of Biden.
  19. If there are no other issues (a drug arrest, or something like that), then the judge is way out of line.
  20. I’m as shocked as the rest of the world. Not sure if Columbus graduated most of their team, or had a lot of folks out with Covid or what. But it was a heck of a win for the raiders, dropping down a classification not withstanding.
  21. Woodville played okay against Newton, who’s always excellent. Orangefield looked great against Anahuac, who was supposed to be pretty good. I’ll take Woodville, but orangefield could surprise me again
  22. Haha. I’m against personal stupidities. I notice that you post all of these misleading or outright false articles, and then anytime someone shows a little proof of their falseness you never respond. I’m not surprised that THIS is the post you responded to, and that you ignored the real point. That said, if you were making arguments regarding personal liberties, I’d be fine with that. I’ve said on here several times that I can respect someone’s choice to not get the vaccine. But I have zero respect for someone who spreads lies to influence other people’s decisions, and that’s literally all you do, all day long. You post fake articles and fake studies and slanted news in an effort to “prove” the vaccine doesn’t work. No source is too dubious or misleading. As long as it fits your lies, you post it. The local hospitals have been posting their hospitalization numbers lately. On an average day they’ll be something like: 260 patients, 20 fully vaccinated. 85 in ICU, 7 fully vaccinated. 40 on ventilators, 1 full vaccinated. You’re the kind of guy that will read those numbers and say “there’s a fully vaccinated person on a ventilator at St. Elizabeth. Vaccines don’t work!” And then devote an hour trying to convince people not to get vaccinated. It’s asinine.
  23. 100 people die of Covid and 2 are vaccinated and to you that’s proof that the vaccine doesn’t work. I’d suggest you quit wearing a seatbelt as well, but I’m sure you already don’t to protect your “personal liberties.”
