I'd like to see some bloodwork or a breathalyzer. If she's innocent, she wouldn't be the first person who failed a sobriety test for reasons other than inebriation, like the example you gave. But there are also plenty of closet drinkers out there who hide their alcoholism and drinking from those closest to them. Perhaps this could be the case with her as well.

I don't think it's really an assumption of guilt as much as a lack of interest. Where had this been Al Sharpton's wife, and had Sharpton been screaming the same nonsense that West was, there would be a movement of support for her and claims of racism by the media and other activists. But I do agree with you for the most part.

when you're looking for a "reasonable response" from the right, hippy is one of the guys you usually go to. I'm another. Hippy has a point here that I happen to agree with. The media absolutely would've reported this differently if it hadn't been Allen West's wife, but instead an African American democrat's wife.

Unfortunately we’re seeing quite a few breakthrough cases. For the most part the vaccine is at least still protecting people from serious infection, but there are some outliers like your friend and Wosgrad. I was concerned when Todd got sick because he had about as bad of risk factors as you can get.

TX Cares Antibody study (natural vs vaccination)
bullets13 replied to Steven Avery's topic in Local Headlines
Where is this located? I’ve been vaccinated and also had 5 or 6 close exposures over the course of the pandemic, but so far no infection, at least with symptoms. I’d love to find out I have some natural antibodies. -

On a completely unrelated note about church vans… when I was in high school I went to FBC Bevil Oaks. During that time they sold our church van and got a new one. The guy who bought the old van was supposed to remove the church name from the van, but never got around to it. He apparently had quite the drinking problem, because people kept calling our church to report that the van was parked at Lucky Liquor. Us high schoolers got to calling the new van “The Lucky Liquor II”, much to the fake outrage of our youth pastor. -

Yeah, we spent a hot few days at the school I taught at a few years ago when a bunch of copper was stolen from the ACs -

This is ridiculous. I want the best applicant to get the job. This woman has decided that if the best applicant is black, she’s not going to hire them anyway. It’s pure racism. I have an equal problem with it going the other way, and better white applicants being passed over for minority candidates, but I also understand that that is a result of decades of hiring practices from those like our friend Eileen here. The fact that people like her still exist makes it difficult to argue against preferential hiring practices for minorities, even though it’s something that I don’t necessarily agree with. I’d love to see a society where the best applicant for a job actually gets the job on merit. -
I have no doubt that with the large number of cases there are likely some coincidental deaths. That said, most of the time it’s pretty obvious. If you’re on a ventilator and have your stroke, it’s probably Covid that did you in. Ironically, the exact argument you make is the one I made about the vaccine, and certain folks on here said there’s no way anyone could ever coincidentally die after being vaccinated. And the thing is, we’re talking a few thousand deaths after vaccination, vs several hundred thousand with Covid, and there’s been many times more vaccinations given than Covid infections.

Bingo. A diabetic dies of organ failure due to complications from Covid, and some people want to blame diabetes. But they lived for 50 years with diabetes and didn’t die until they got Covid.
-
No, he’s not. About 90% of what he posts is stuff like this.
-
"every" wasn't accurate, but neither is "most", because most could mean 51%. "overwhelming majority" probably suffices.
-
Yup. Had an extremely close exposure at work Friday to a breakthrough case from someone who had the Pfizer. Glad I had the moderna, but still keeping an eye on things for the next few days.

On a depressing note, found out a pretty good friend of my wife and mom died overnight from Covid. They worked with her for about ten years, and she’s been over to my house several times. 59 years old, no real risk factors, afraid of the vaccine. It’s a shame. She was an excellent teacher and a very nice lady. It had been several months since anyone I knew well had died from Covid, but now we’ve got two funerals to go to. It’s definitely getting out of hand again.
-
It’s exactly the same. Doesn’t speak well for either side.

So he decommitted to Texas but they're in his top-3 still?
-
the point I was making is that 99.5% of the people who had covid and died in texas since February are unvaccinated. You can use semantics to debate whether it was covid or some other factor that killed them. I'm debating that half of one percent of Texans who had covid after being vaccinated didn't die from covid or mitigating circumstances while they had covid.

is fox a legitimate source? and you questioning anyone's sources is the dumbest thing on the internet today.
-
every major health organization, the vast majority of scientists, and the vast majority of healthcare workers say the vaccine works. All research says the vaccine works. He's not the one drinking the kool-aid.
-
pretty irrelevant, when you look at the numbers. I don't care if you call it dying OF covid, or dying WITH covid. if 99.5% of people who've died "with" covid were unvaccinated, then there's not much to argue about, semantics or otherwise.

Pretty perfect example of the anti-vaccine playbook. Hundreds of thousands die from Covid- “no big deal”. One vaccinated person dies from Covid- “see, the vaccine doesn’t work!” It’s the dumbest double standard I’ve ever seen. Same thing with ignoring all of the deaths from Covid, but then 8 people out of millions get a rare blood clot from the vaccine, 1 dies, and the anti-vaxxers are screaming about the dangers of the vaccine (while comparing Covid to the flu). I can understand the choice to not get the vaccine, but I truly don’t understand those who devote so much effort into trying to convince people that they shouldn’t get it.
