Most likely. I expect the WOS/Silsbee game to be pretty interesting, especially if the Tigers get healthy. -

I think 56-0 could’ve happened pretty easily. -
First to admit I was wrong, and happy about it!

I’m not a proponent of running up the score, and am all about getting the backups some time, but that 42-20 scoreline doesn’t come close to telling the tale of what HF did tonight. This team has been absolutely dominant the last two weeks. Tonight feels even better after WOS was super fortunate to come back and squeak out a 3 point win at Jasper last week. The stangs gave up 36 last week to Jasper, and I’m not sure Jasper scores tonight if HF keeps their foot on the gas. This defense has stepped it up big time from the start of the year, and the offense is absolutely rolling. -

They lost a bunch of starters last year. These guys needed some time to gel. And Pirtle and Starnes going both ways makes a big difference as well -

HF’s offense has been good all year, but what their defense has done the last game and a half is really impressive -
Dak is a good qb, but he’s not transcendently great. When you overpay him, he’s not good enough to drag along a mediocre team with him to glory without the pieces that they can’t afford after giving him too much. He needs a good o-line, an elite running back, and a solid defense. Where does the money come to pay for that when he’s making what he’s making?

You’re right, 60% is probably low. 50% of the country are democrats, and it’s gotta be more than 1 in 5 republicans that doesn’t like him, either. Most of them will still vote for him, but that’s a different matter.
-
it was your first line. doesn't matter that nobody needs to usher him off the stage if he never shuts up and 60% of the country hates him. and you can say what you want about him not getting confused, his speeches are getting harder and harder to follow. funny how he (and republicans in general) correctly claimed that Sleepy Joe was too old to run or be effective 4 years ago. But here we are now and Trump is even older than that, and looks and acts it. Too bad the republicans didn't perform a coup and install a decent candidate.
-
He may not require them, but he dang sure needs them, if only to be there to tell him to shut up 10-15 times a day. If he had them he would've won reelection four years ago and we wouldn't be in this awful position right now. Even if he just got them for this election cycle he'd be way ahead in the polls. But hey, he really gets the diehards pumped up with all the crazy stuff he says!

I can deal with the brashness being by design, as much as I don't like it. But I can't imagine trying to intentionally look like your facilities are diminishing.

He really is kinda going off the ledge. Sounds more and more like sleepy Joe every interview. Rambling, nonsensical claims, often a lack of substance. The good news is if he wins I think Vance would be okay if they have to shut Trump down. Kinda funny watching the left get to use the same playbook that Trump used against Biden the last 4 years.

Trump says Harris should be ‘forced off’ campaign, wants Biden back From the article: early a decade into his career in politics, Donald Trump has consistently argued that his potential rivals shouldn’t be permitted to stand between him and power. In October 2015, for example, the Republican said Hillary Clinton shouldn’t be “allowed” to run for president. In February 2016, Trump said Ted Cruz was “not allowed” to run for president, either. A month later, the future president said John Kasich shouldn’t have been “allowed” to run against him in a GOP primary. Ahead of Election Day 2020, Trump said Joe Biden shouldn’t have been “allowed” to run for president. In July 2024, he said Kamala Harris shouldn’t be “allowed” to run, either. Four months later, as a HuffPost report noted, the former president insisted that the Democratic vice president should now be “forced off” the campaign trail.

played a real schedule? they haven't had a great season, but they put up 56 on PNG and lost late in a shootout. And they still have a whole lot of the team that went 12-1 and lost by a fg to the Indians last year in the playoffs. Nederland has improved, but LC has faced some serious squads this season. and on the flip side of that, the closest thing to a legit opponent for nederland has been WOS and Silsbee, both two divisions lower and neither as good as they were in the past (WOS is back on the rise, and Silsbee is in a rare down year). On a positive note, this next month is going to give us all a really good look into just how much the bulldogs have improved this year. 1 win in 4 will be a success with what's coming up. I would love to see Nederland find a way to finish these last four 2-2, I just struggle to see it happening.

Nah, gonna disagree with you on this one. It removes almost all of the distractions that you have at a regular high school. These kids who are driven to succeed and want to focus solely on academics are allowed an atmosphere that is almost college-like. They don't have to deal with the troublemakers, the kids that don't even want to be at school, fights, noise, overcrowding, etc. etc. If you implement it at two campuses, you have to hire faculty and staff at TWO locations to run it, and it wouldn't be nearly as effective. It also, to a small degree, alleviates overcrowding in the other high schools. BISD has 29 campuses, and this campus is without a doubt one of the cheapest, if not the cheapest to run. I worked in that district for 15 years, and they find a LOT of ways to waste resources and money, but this campus has been a big success. EDIT: apologies, i'll get back on topic. Although to be fair, this whole thread has been ALLL over the place. -
been a long time since this statement wasn't accurate, tbh.

feels like it should be a close one.

i'll go 34-20. Jasper is a little hard to gauge this year. I wouldn't be shocked if we saw another HF blowout like against silsbee, and I wouldn't be surprised if it's more like your score prediction. The Dawgs definitely showed something last week against WOS.
-
i expect them to score more than 24, but i doubt it's a shutout

the main thing is that these kids are getting a ton of their college hours taken care of while still in high school. Graduating with an associates if i'm not mistaken. It's not a waste of time or money when it's free and you have it by the time you're 18. it gives those kids a lot of options regardless of which direction they choose to go.
