  1. If I'm not mistaken a few of the girls on that team have two SCs now. Didn't liberty win it all when this year's seniors were freshmen?
  2. The new era of US soccer started last night with the US defeating Mexico 3-2 in the CONCACAF Nations Final. For the last couple of years Mexico has been taking us to the woodshed, but last night wasn't a fluke. With all the young talent we have right now the US should be more than competitive with Mexico for the next 10 years.
  3. I'm more inclined to believe that these UFOs are govt technology (either ours or someone else's), and that the govt is more than happy for people to believe that it's aliens vs. man-made technology.
  4. I don't disagree with this, but I'll also admit I find some of the youngest politicians in office to be the most terrifying.
  5. Maxpreps rankings are meaningless. In both the baseball and softball rankings they have teams that aren't ranked first in texas ranked #1 nationally.
  6. Maxpreps rankings are stupid. They have them ranked 7th in Texas, but 2nd in the nation? Maybe I don't fully understand how their rankings work? That said, these are absolutely two fantastic wins for BH.
  7. Just able to turn it on at work in time to see BH rounding the bases after a homerun. 5-2 BH leads
  8. That's insane. I read an article the other day about a promising young football player who was shot and killed at a party at a hotel in Dallas. The parents of the 17-year-old sued the hotel for $25M because the hotel rented a room to a 20-year-old, which was "against their policy" to only rent to people 21 and up. These parents weren't to blame for not knowing where their 17-year-old was in the middle of the night, but the hotel was supposedly responsible for an 18-year-old pulling out a gun and shooting him.
  9. We'll see. I'm still considering their job offer. Two expired movie tickets and a handwritten voucher for one free massage from @AggiesAreWe. IF, and it's a big IF, I turn it down, then they might hire one of these fancy coaches from out of town.
  10. she said it was an accident, and people are trying to crucify him. Which she's probably not wrong there. But obviously nobody wants to own up to any part of it. It's the way things work now.
  11. I found some facebook drama from the wife of the guy who ran over the kid basically claiming that the kid's mom was drunk and not watching him. For whatever that's worth.
  12. To me it feels like she's looking for someone to sue, and my guess is the city of Beaumont or BPD for those deep pockets. But to me, even if the guy was in the grass, there were signs saying no ATVs. It would be like someone suing the city because their kid died in a car accident where they got hit by someone going 70 in a 50. It's not the city's fault they broke the law. But yeah, it's really feeling like she's looking for $$, especially bringing in QX.
  13. kinda my take on this as well. In both of those situations the parent should shoulder some blame. I saw a post on facebook that said the driver was high on crack cocaine, and also that he'd been asked to quit riding multiple times. Now, who knows if any of that is accurate. But if he'd been riding around for awhile, especially dangerously, there's no way my kids would have the opportunity to be run over.
  14. dang, that one hurts. their all-world player and about half their team will graduate this year, so that's probably it for awhile.
  15. it's a black guy. The news hasn't reported his identity, but I've seen it a few places on facebook. I assumed it was a black guy as well, as that neighborhood is almost entirely minority, and you see a lot of guys riding around on atvs.
  16. I don't think many people think they're similar. That said, if you bring in an "elite" Metroplex coach, isn't it reasonable to expect him to take his SETX talent and be one of the top SETX teams? You have to go a LONG way in the playoffs to run into those metroplex programs you're talking about.
  17. I've heard too many stories about him demanding exorbitant fees from families in need before he would come speak for them and bring attention to their cause. When you hear stories of him wanting $10K to "help" someone, it kinda makes you question his motives.
  18. I'm also curious to see how the family proceeds with the lawsuit that they're undoubtedly planning. Quannell X wouldn't be in town if he didn't smell money. The child was hit and killed by a black man who likely doesn't have any money, so it's not about race. I'm curious to see who's big pockets the lawsuit goes after. I'm assuming the city of Beaumont and maybe BPD, because it's totally their fault that this guy ignored the signs and broke the law.
