  1. I understand the story is out there, and that Perry claims it happened, I (and many folks, if we're honest) just don't believe that it actually happened. Very little of it is particularly believable, and it's even less believable considering who it supposedly happened to.
  2. that's alright, I already got all of the legal work out of you that I needed
  3. hopefully so. Argyle is good, but they're young. HJ has all the experience you can ask for, and has played a brutal schedule. Always kinda nice to get to state and have already played 7-8 teams better on your schedule than anyone there.
  4. I went with West. I don't care for Abbott, but will obviously vote for whoever goes up against Beto.
  5. I never believed that story, but I didn't hate the guy.
  6. unfortunate that this game will be in the Semis. it's the finals everyone deserved. I hope whoever comes out on top doesn't have a letdown in the finals.
  7. This team is really good
  8. Not really. It’ll be close. Argyle will slow it down too much to pull away. But HJ does look flat today
  9. Argyle beat #3 Canyon 33-32 tonight. They control the pace, but I don’t know that they can hold HJ under 50, and if they don’t, I think HJ beats them.
  10. I meant HJ by 16. Fat fingers and whatnot
  11. Keep it up girls!
  12. My list of the most talented musicians starts with Freddie Mercury, and then you can debate after that. Then again, I love Queen's music, and don't particularly care for many of Prince's songs.
  13. Always good when you can play a bad game, get a little wake up call, and still win by 17 and advance. Hopefully this lights a little fire under them.
  14. I didn't miss your point. I just see the irony when people who criticize folks for "blaming trump" are blaming American voters for a Russian nutjob invading the Ukraine. If that's a valid argument, then so is the argument that it's Trump's fault for losing the election to begin with.
  15. I only believe it if someone puts it on twitter.
  16. a foreign country is invading another foreign country, and all some folks want to talk about is voters in a THIRD, unrelated country who didn't vote for the guy they like.
  17. From your NATO source?
  18. No, the point is that coaching can only do so much. If everything stays the same, including Surratt, but Carthage doesn't drop down a division, I say they most likely don't win any championships. Because as good of a coach as he is, he'd be competing with the same talent level at his school against much tougher 5A schools to try and win. So while Surratt arriving certainly played a big part of their success, just as big of a part or bigger was dropping down a classification (while keeping the same talent base) and getting to compete against much easier opponents in the playoffs.
  19. There's going to come a point where the ultra-left is going to alienate the common democrat. It feels like we're getting to that point, which is a great thing.
  20. No, but Surratt still benefits from top-tier 4A talent, great facilities, etc. If Carthage had stayed old 4A (5A now) do you think he would have any championships? if so, how many? I would argue that no matter how good of a coach he is, he most likely wouldn't have a championship if Carthage hadn't dropped to the new 4A. It's possible they might've made a few pretty deep runs. Another question for you: do you think there are hundreds of coaches of this quality to choose from, and places like PNG are just too stupid to get them? Do you think any top-tier coach wants to come live in southeast texas and coach at a school with inferior athletes and superior fan interference? There are a limited number of these coaches, and no matter how good they are there's still a limit to what they can do at a place. Very few coaches are going to leave high paying, high profile jobs to come out here, but Barber's Hill is proving that bringing in that marquee coach isn't worth that many wins with the limited talent available.
  21. the announcer on NFHS/TexanLive calling the BU/Texas City game last night said he'd be doing the HJ game Friday, but it's not posted on the NFHS lineup yet.
  22. they have a very good team. only losses on the year are to 5a #12 Royce City by 9, 4A #5 Midlothian Heritage by 5, 6A Private Bishop Lynch by 13, and 6A San Angelo Central by 13. They have several solid wins this year, including that impressive 50-point win they just put up against a 34-4 Palestine. All that said, HJ has several wins over teams as good or better than the teams that have beaten La Vega. There aren't any common opponents this season, but playing connect the dots, HJ beat ranked 5A Red Oak by 13, Red Oak just beat Royse City by 8, and Royse City beat La Vega by 9. So HJ should win by 30 (just kidding). All things said, I'll take HJ by 15, but this is the first opponent they've played in almost two months that will be good enough to win if the hawks play badly, or if they get a few key players in foul trouble. HJ only beat La Vega by 7 last year, and this year's La Vega team is better, although the Hawks are a lot better than last year as well, IMO.
  23. Has the game started? NFHS says it’s delayed
