  1. Man. 31 fouls seems a bit much, even for a physical game
  2. Texas just managed to beat Tech in Lubbock. They had a stretch of 10 games where they were 2-8. All of a sudden they’ve won 4 straight, with back to back wins against ranked opponents, and are 18-11. They could mess around and make the big dance.
  3. Another solution would be classifying schools based on their player pools, not their school enrollment. So in instances like this, where a district is clearly allowing students to transfer schools for athletic purposes, or allows kids to choose any school in the district regardless of their residency, have them play in 6A since they’re forming teams from thousands of kids (or tens of thousands), not the 700 or 800 zoned for their school.
  4. Probably be a senior heavy team next year, too. And the year after that. And the... you get my point.
  5. When you find the secret to growing 8 inches by spending more time in the gym let us know. That’s the only way small school high school teams are going to be able to compete with these big city junior college squads.
  6. Fairfield won 86-60 to move to 32-4 on the year.
  7. HJ girls were down 1-0 with 15 left and came back to win 3-1
  8. Jasper boys won 4-1. jasper girls lost 2-0. This is a far cry from the jasper girls we’ve seen the last several years. They must’ve had a lot of seniors graduate last year.
  9. Only if they show some respect and put in the 3rd string
  10. The only hope HJ has is that it’s been a couple of months since Yates has played a decent team. Hopefully they come out cocky and ready for an easy win, and HJ comes out with a chip on their should and plays a near perfect game. HJ is a quality 4A squad, but then again, Yates is good enough to go to state in 5A. I expect Yates to win by 25-30. If HJ pulls this off it might be the most impressive win in the school’s history. But they play the game for a reason, and I’m rooting for a miracle.
  11. What’s impressive is they won a playoff game against a team that was 31-2. And beat Silsbee and HJ in two weeks to make the playoffs to begin with.
  12. When’s the last time the regular season finished with neither HJ or Silsbee in the rankings? They’re both among the top-25 in the state, IMO, but the rankings say otherwise
  13. Glad a little hangover from the emotion of the last game didn’t cost them. Keep it going, tigers.
  14. Thanks. Saw that exact scenario tonight in a college game.
  15. Just curious... in higher levels in a situation like this where a foul occurs and then a tech, doesn’t the team shoot two free throws and then the free throws from the foul become their extra possession? I’m almost positive it’s that way in the nba, can’t remember with college. It just seems like allowing them tech free throws, then foul free throws, then the ball is excessive.
  16. Yup, been saying this for years. 4a schools in both cities with player pools larger than the entire towns’ populations of the 4A schools they play. Silsbee and HJ would have a shot of meeting at regionals. edit: sorry, AAW, responded to this before I read further into the thread.
  17. Harper steals the inbound, fouled , that’s just about it
  18. :19.8 left, same score. Hawks sending bush to the line 9 time in OT in a game where he went 20 of 20 (so far) lost the game for them
