  1. I’m hoping they schedule a game since they won’t be in the same district
  2. All jokes aside, it’s been a heck of a run by the tigers against the hawks, and I’m really enjoying the rivalry feeling like a rivalry this year. I hope they play next year, and I hate that they’re not going to be fighting it out for the district championship again.
  3. This is the head to head since 2007: HJ SIL 2007 2 1 2008 2 2 2009 1 2 2010 1 2 2011 0 2 2012 1 1 2013 0 2 2014 0 2 2015 1 1 2016 0 2 2017 0 2 2018 0 1 2019 0 2 2020 1 1 tot 9 23 After the teams split the first 10 games, Silsbee has won 18 of 22, and has won the last 0. figured I’d help you out, AAW, since this is your favorite post to make (I’m pretty sure I’ve seen it after every one of those last 8 wins by silsbee). I’m sure that next long streak is coming soon, so I’m gonna enjoy this win real quick
  4. HF haD a record of 11-82 the last 4 years. 22-11 this year is nothing short of spectacular. The win over Silsbee is just the cherry on top.
  5. Pretty doubtful. But they play the games for a reason, and PNG has a better shot than anyone else in the district.
  6. HJ girls won 4-2. Dominated the game but pulled several key players late and gave up a couple of goals in the last 15 minutes.
  7. Hate it when these high school kids sell out for their college educations... 🙄
  8. Congrats tigers, and glad to see HJ competing with them again.
  9. Let’s enjoy the game and quit with the insults.
  10. It’s nice to have a little equity in this matchup for the first time in several years, but the downside to that is that for the time in a long time southeast Texas doesn’t have a team in 4A with a realistic shot of winning state. I hate that 4A has become filled with “small” schools from big cities with huge player pools. It makes the 4 year run Silsbee put together even more impressive, but it also means that small town 4A State titles are quickly going to become a thing of the past. Maybe this next crop of Silsbee kids will live up to the hype, but it feels like we’re approaching a time where you could combine HJ and Silsbee’s player pools and they’d still struggle to get past all of the 4A schools from Houston and Dallas that have hundreds, if not thousands, of players to choose from that are just a transfer away.
  11. Not disappointed at all, and AAW certainly has more HS basketball knowledge than me. Just putting my two cents into the discussion. I’m assuming Mike posts his rankings for just that reason... to generate a little discussion/debate
  12. Silsbee is rightfully ranked higher than their record indicates, but I think HJ deserves the same treatment over HF and Lumberton, who’ve played much softer schedules. Both of those teams might not have a win had they played Silsbee’s schedule, and I’m fairly confident they’d be a ways under .500 had they played HJ’s, who has a few good wins, a lot of solid ones, plus a close loss to PA.
  13. Half of the 4A top-10 is .500 or worse, and Madison still #1 in 3a with a 1-8 record. I understand some of these teams play tough schedules, or play teams from higher classifications, but winning games should be part of the equation at least.
  14. Yesterday: HJ 73, Zapata 23 HJ 63, Port Aransas 41 Today: HJ 74, Rockport Fulton 43
