  1. Horns win! 62-58! What a win
  2. HF with a great inbound play and draw an intentional foul. Make 1 of 2, and get the ball back with 4 seconds left. Going to the line with 3 left
  3. HJ scores to cut it to 1 with 8.0
  4. HF to the line for 2, with 20.8 left
  5. Horns with a block and recovery. Timeout with :26 left
  6. Jump ball goes to HJ with :38 left, down 1.
  7. HF hits a huge 3 to go up 57-56, then gets a stop the other way. 1:00 left
  8. I guess my point is sometimes things aren’t as big of a deal until they affect you directly
  9. To be fair, silsbee fans were all over the internet and Facebook griping about the same thing after losing to faith family. And as someone who supports them because they’re local, I was right there with them. It’s hard to blame PNG fans for their sour grapes, although they weren’t winning state this year anyway.
  10. HF leads HJ 31-29 at the half, and watching the game, they’ve been the better team so far. HF’s new coach has them going in the right direction this year. 18-18 last year, they’re 13-6 this year with some nice wins, and close losses to some quality teams as well
  11. this has been my thought from the get go.
  12. Hamshire-Fannett did what they were supposed to until they didn't. They won an outright district championship for the first time since 94 I think, and convincingly thumped WOS, Silsbee, and Jasper to do it. Unfortunately, they lost a game they should've won in the 2nd round due to many factors coming together at exactly the wrong time. So that said, winning the district title was expected, but so was making it to the regional final out of this region and their side of the bracket. Had they gotten there, I'd argue they were close to even money against WLV, who's now in the state final. This was our chance, though. It's been close to 50 years since HF had this much talent on one team, and they got a favorable road to boot and weren't able to capitalize. There's a lot of talent coming up, but it's going to be tough replacing basically all of their best defensive players for a second straight year, along with the district MVP, one of the best qbs in the state, and a D1 offensive lineman.
  13. not sure I know either of these two, but they have a heck of a job in front of them. that said, dropping down to 5A should help a little.
  14. yeah, lots of good teams in the area. although Tenaha has been pretty bipolar that last 7-8 years, and Timpson wasn't anything until they became the fighting Busseys. Kinda surprised he didn't end up at carthage, tbh.
  15. Carthage is the rare example of a coach who has to do literally nothing to get talent to come to him. That said, if your kid is a good football player and you live fairly close to carthage, wouldn't it make sense to move into the district and commute to your job? What's wild is that Beckville is only 10 min away from carthage, and Joaquin is less than 30 away. Both have put out good football teams recently. maybe they get the guys who'd normally start for a team like carthage if it wasn't pulling in studs from all over the place?
  16. Jefferson has a very good group of athletes going through right now. Highly ranked in football, and should have a good season in basketball as well. I've enjoyed following them the last few years since I spend a lot of my winter up that way at the deer lease about 10 miles outside of town.
  17. Man, I bombed this week. First bad week since about week 5 of the regular season came at a bad time.
