Jasper 71 Hardin-Jefferson 64/FINAL
bullets13 replied to WOSgrad's topic in High School Boys Basketball
Yes. -
Nobody comes here. I found out about this just now by accident. These girls deserve their suspension if there’s validity to the claims, which it sounds like there is. If they’re using the N-word towards this girl they should be done for the year.

Silsbee has a special generation of players right now, and HJ just doesn’t. HJ is a solid 4a squad, but Silsbee would go very deep in the 5A playoffs if they’re playing like they’re capable. Up until the last couple of years, even though Silsbee was clearly the better team, HJ had a couple of horses good enough to keep it close, and Silsbee wasn’t quite to this level yet. These last 3 years or so we’ve seen HJ drop from a top-10 4a caliber team to a top 20-25 team, while Silsbee has risen to arguably the level of a top-5 5A team. The results in their matchups have reflected this. It’s hard to be surprised when one school is down (although still a solid team), and the other has so much talent they just won a 4A championship in arguably the deepest 4A playoffs ever. With the amount of Houston and Dallas schools staying at lower classifications to try and win championships (while essentially having a talent pool of tens of thousands of kids to pick from), it just goes to show how incredible this group from Silsbee has really been. -
I would guess no more than $5

I hate bama, but feel bad for the kicker if they lose

Silsbee has played a tough schedule and faced some matchup problems. I don’t think HJ will give them the same issues. HJ has had a pretty nice year, but hasn’t played near the schedule. I think (hope) that the rivalry will help HJ keep it close, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Silsbee takes out some frustration and runs away with this one. I’ll take silsbee by 13, but it wouldn’t surprise me if they won by 3 or 33.

Still have a chance if they can score quick again! -
And you act like the patriots playing a regular season away game is comparable to a high school team having to travel a long distance by bus to play a state championship game at a "neutral site" that is in their opponent's backyard, and where they've already played several games. I still haven't figured that one out. As for your home game comment, of course everyone would like one every week. Obviously that's not possible, but when the same programs from the same region are getting what amount to home games every year in what should be a neutral venue for a state championship, there's certainly a large amount of unfairness to the programs who have to travel. That's not whining, it's common sense. As for your last question, I think ALL of the kids left in the playoffs are more concerned with winning a state championship than the venue they win it in. For those whose lose, I don't know that having gone to Jerry World is going to give them a whole lot of consolation.

Just to play devils advocate, would it still not be a significant advantage to sleep in your own bed before the game, follow your normal routine, and then get prepared at your own school before a 30 min ride to the stadium (where you've already played several times) the day of the game? as opposed to riding 5 hours the day before the game, sleeping in a hotel room (I sleep like crap in them), before getting up, holding meetings at the hotel, and then riding to the stadium? I'm not sure how someone is a snowflake for suggesting it's not fair for one region to essentially get home field advantage in the state championship games EVERY year. As to your patriot comment, they would probably B**** plenty, as well as the rest of the league, if the NFL decided to hold the Super Bowl at Heinz Field (or Jerryworld, for that matter) every year.

For what it's worth, PG has given up 240 points this year, WOS 119 (with two less games). Some might try to argue that PG has had a tougher schedule, but madisonville, wimberly, salado, and Kennedale are all very good teams. Going through each team's schedule, I'd say they're pretty even.

I'm in the arklatex area hunting right now, and I keep seeing a little local news commercial that says "if defense wins championships, then pleasant grove should win one next weekend!" And I'm just thinking, they might, but I don't think they don't exactly understand the caliber of defense they're about to face.

#1 4A Silsbee at #5 4A Center Tuesday
bullets13 replied to BADSANTA's topic in High School Boys Basketball
I think Silsbee wins comfortably. Center is a very good team, but Silsbee has played a ridiculous schedule so far. They've more than prepared themselves to beat up on a quality 4A team. I'll say 93-73 -
it's bad that I want him to fail just because I hate his dad so much.
