  1. They don't hate federal aid, they hate the people who abuse the system and use it as a career path, rather than a helping hand to get on their feet.
  2. This was a once in however many thousand year event. Houses that should've never been in danger of flooding received considerable damage. For those people, I'm glad FEMA is available. That being said, I know many families who live in Pinewood, Northwest Forest, Countrywood, and Bevil Oaks who did not have flood insurance. Many of those homes flooded before, and if not, many houses around them did. I have a hard time listening to friends who chose not to buy insurance gripe about having to wait for, not receiving enough of, or being denied for FEMA benefits. To be honest, in SOME cases, where people knew that flooding was a danger but chose to forego flood insurance, Big Girl has a point. Those people did not want to spend money to protect their house, and now expect the government to pay for their mistake. That being said, I disagree with her attempt to throw all republicans needing FEMA under the bus. Many, many people were affected by this storm who had no reason to believe they'd ever be in danger of flooding.
  3. To me this hit was worthy of multiple games. Period. I see very little difference between this action and the punch in the basketball game last season, with the exception being that this caused more damage to the player who received the cheap shot. I guess because it's football, where people are supposed to get hit, the severity of the act is downplayed because in other situations on the field it would be a (maybe) legal play. Not only did it play a large part in causing Jasper to lose the game, it cost the Jasper qb at least a game as well. I'd be in favor of a two game suspension, with the option of extending it if the Jasper qb is still unable to play for multiple games.
  4. I don't know if I'd call that a football hit. Closer to aggravated assault. I'm sure the jasper qb would've preferred to have been punched.
  5. Agreed. And I hate how it ended for them.
  6. Great game. Texas gave them more than all they wanted.
  7. After several years of mediocrity, to go into one of the toughest places in the nation to play and take the the #4 team in the nation to overtime? With an incredible defensive performance? With a backup, true freshman qb? Yeah, I'd say most people that follow the program are very happy right now.
  8. Isn't that what the ags got after that 10-point beat down of Nicholls state last weekend?
  9. Great game. A win for the horns no matter what happens here.
  10. Would've liked another look. I thought he grabbed the bottom bar of the mask from underneath. Couldn't really see for sure from the replay.
  11. Sure wish we had that fg from the first half right now...
  12. Did the coaches not talk to him the first time he fielded a punt on the 1 yard line and kept it from going into the endzone?
  13. Great call to go for the fake, but the hold was obvious, and there's a chance the fake doesn't work without it
  14. Texas D still coming up big. Need the offensive to move the ball. They had a decent drive to start the 2nd half, so maybe they'll have a little momentum
  15. These announcers are lame, but I have to agree with the point that the UT defense hasn't looked this good in years
  16. How did two officials miss that defensive hold? That was terrible.
  17. I still don't have much hope in this game, but it's nice to see the defense show a little grit for the first time in a few years
  18. Agreed. A defensive stop and then the lead on the road wouldve been the perfect start. That turnover on downs gave momentum right back to USC
