  1. they made some nice moves. Hamels was good, they picked up some relievers to turn their biggest weakness into a strength, and delino deshields jr. was a huge waiver pickup. They could be scary good next year. The bullpen is solid, they'll have two legit aces in darvish and Hamels, and their offense is going to be scary with pretty much everyone coming back and Odor looking like he might be poised to turn into a superstar. Oughta be a few more good pennant races between the Texas teams in the next couple of years
  2. First time in a month I can root for them! Go Astros!!!
  3. 30 of those yards were on one run. So apart from that, he has 17 yards on 28 carries.
  4. it's fine. I'm sure you had cheer practice or something
  5. Not at all. But worth noting. Texas' effort to schedule tougher pre-conference opponents biting them some during this rebuild
  6. I figure in the year 2057 or so we'll hang one for the mythical championship we won this year.
  7. Toledo only has one good win, and that's only if you use phatmack's "every team in the SEC west is quality" logic. It's a connundrum. Is Toledo legit because they beat a bad SEC west team, or is the SEC west team bad because they lost to Toledo?
  8. Well, they used every game available, but the Rangers won the division! Hamels with a huge complete game to give the bullpen some rest, allowing only one hit after the first inning.
  9. For what it's worth, the combined record of the teams Texas has lost to is 19-1, with the 1 being notre dame's 2-point loss to highly ranked Clemson.
  10. that was last year, not this year. This year Arkansas lost to Toledo. But hey, you guys needed OT to beat them, so they must be quality! Speaking of last year and 59...
  11. 2010 was the last time more than half of the sec west had a winning conference record in a season. It's been awhile since it could be argued that every team in that half of the SEC was a quality opponent
  12. history is irrelevant when judging the current status of something. By your logic, beating Texas was a quality win for TCU today, as Texas has quite the history. There are some great teams in the SEC west, but 4/7 does not equal all (unless you're an SEC guy, I guess)
  13. I'm not saying the sec west is terrible. That would be as incorrect as your assertion that the entire SEC west is quality.
  14. Also, it's going to take more than a close win over Tennessee by the piggies to turn that OT win over Arkansas into a quality win
  15. that was a better win than this one, IMO, even before their upset of UCLA
  16. the problem with the SEC is that at the end of the year if Mississippi St is 7-5, with wins against southern Miss, northwestern st, auburn, Troy, La Tech, Kentucky, and Arkansas, this will still be considered a quality win. Maybe they'll beat an ok mizzou team and go 8-4. Which would mean they beat two decent teams all year. But because they're sec west, beating them is a quality win.
  17. well, any win in the SEC west is automatically designated as quality by teams from the SEC west, at least.
  18. #1 OSU barely escaped Indiana. #2 MSU barely escaped a very weak Purdue team. #3 Ole Miss got curb stomped by what has up until now looked like a decent at best Florida team. #6 ND is probably about to lose, albeit by #12 Clemson. #7 UCLA got spanked by an unranked team #8 Georgia got manhandled by Bama #9 LSU was only up a touchdown going into the 4th against eastern Michigan #11 Florida St beats weak Wake Forest by 8 #19 Wisconsin loses to Iowa is there more parity in football this year than usual? Are the lesser teams catching up, or is there a lack of legit powerhouses, or both?
  19. Unfathomable collapse by the Rangers. Hurts the Astros as much as it hurts the Rangers, too.
  20. Rangers have given up 5 in the top of the 9th to go down 1 run. Absolutely horrific pitching. Coaches deserve a large chunk of the blame for bringing out the closer for the 5th straight day. He gave up two homers in 4 pitches and was pulled. Out of his 5 straight appearances, 2 were save opportunities. Poor management
  21. Rangers going to the bottom of the 8th up 4! Three outs away from clinching!!!
  22. they lost both games directly due to the plays that I mentioned, hence those plays cost them the game. Had they executed both plays, then perhaps another play costs them the game, but that was not the case.
  23. It's ugly. He's also screwed because his special teams cost him the last two games, and is directly responsible for a safety and a missed fg this game, as well as a shanked punt that led to a short td drive. This game should probably be 21-3 right now, which wouldn't be great, but would be okay against tcu. If they're 3-1 right now then we're giving him props for a huge turnaround. 1-3 thanks the punter and place kicker and he's about to maybe lose his job
