[Hidden Content] note that this comes from fox. Excellent read, and makes excellent points.

Dumb arse helps a pair of prisoners escape

Good. -
This is terrible. I'm glad he was caught before he could do anything else.

That was in reference to blue dove's statement, not this incident

More often than not people want to fight the police, then complain when police fight back. All these cellphones, yet only a handful of incidents have been shown where cops did something wrong. But the way it's plastered all over the media, it gives the APPEARANCE of a huge problem, the BIGGEST problem according to some. In reality, policing can be a violent job, and never looks good on video. That doesn't mean that the vast majority of police aren't doing their job well. Even in this situation, as poorly as the officer handled himself, had the teen had any respect at all for authority and obeyed one of the several reasonable orders he gave her to leave, rather than screaming profanity at him, all would've been avoided. Her lack of respect was undoubtedly fueled by the misrepresentation of police in the media. Again, this does not excuse his actions, but as long as the media continues to fuel this fire of hate and disrespect towards officers, there will continue to be situations that escalate because citizens refuse to follow reasonable orders. And once things start to get out of hand, stuff like this will happen.

He overreacted. He's paying the price. I still think the bigger problem in society is the fact that teenagers think it's okay to curse and scream at cops while disobeying their orders.

Because thousands of scientists have told me so? But you're right, I should believe the right wing articles on here instead, even though every single one I've ever read was at worst a complete lie, and at best completely misleading.
-
And how do you know it's a lie again? Oh wait, because western journalism told you so.
-
I just read an article that stated that the officer in question had already responded to two suicide calls that day, including one where a man had shot himself in the head in front of his family (at which time the officer would've presumably had to deal with that shattered family for some time). This could provide some insight into why the officer acted in such a manic and angry way. I think it's safe to say he was having a very bad day. It doesn't excuse his actions, but I think most of us will admit to having bad days affect our work performance from time to time.

Did the teenage girl attack one of the women, or vice versa? I'm assuming there's evidence the teen started it or the media would be all over it. If a 15-year-old starts hitting me I'm not going to stand there and take it just because it's a teenager doing it.

HUFFMAN HARGRAVE 6 NEEDVILLE 4/LADY FALCONS WIN STATE!!!

I caught the last couple of innings today on fox southwest. The announcers completely missed the first mugging, but thought she probably should've been ejected for the 2nd one. Hard to believe that the umpire, who was in a position to see both, didn't do anything. The girl is ruined, though. The video is all over Facebook, other social media, and deadspin had an article with the video today. -
Perhaps you're right. I haven't looked at the video in a couple of days. But this is a perfect example of the types of things a cop might see while in that situation. Out of his peripheral vision, all he sees is a guy rushing him reaching to his waistband. You can't expect a cop to wait and see if someone is pulling out a gun to shoot him before drawing his own. The officer's inappropriate actions stem from his behavior to the girl, IMO, not his behavior towards two young men who charged him. Had one of them proved to be a threat to him, he would've shot them. When they proved not to be, he did not.
-
To be fair, if he was going to shoot them, they would've already been shot by the time the other officers reached him. That was an instinctual reaction to two people charging him while he was in a vulnerable position. I guarantee you if you go find TVC on a Saturday night in PA while he's in a struggle with someone and charge him from behind, he'd put his gun in your face as well.
-
I'm with you on drawing the weapon. I really didn't think that was out of line. The "kid" he drew it on had a cigarette in his mouth and appeared to reach into his pocket as he charged.

I would lean towards a personality flaw. the 11 other officers appeared to handle themselves pretty well.

Inadequate special education accusation against HJISD
bullets13 replied to AggiesAreWe's topic in The Locker Room
Without a doubt there are bad teachers out there. There are also many more who have a hard time showing the patience needed for one special needs kid because they have 22 more non-special needs kids going crazy while they try to address the special needs of one kid. -

I wouldn't say they don't have the patience, I'd say they don't have the resources. -
He seemed overwhelmed. Still, the talking heads need to quit comparing this to ferguson. The other officers handled themselves well, and this one, while performing poorly, did not break any laws. Actually, since we're talking about cops not breaking any laws, maybe the ferguson comparison is fair.

Say what you want, but there's a lot more money in it for oil and big business from the right to deny global warming than there is for scientists on the left to say it exists.

Astros in the process of crashing back to earth, while the rangers are playing their best ball in two years. Here's hoping we have a texas team representing us in the playoffs this year.

HUFFMAN HARGRAVE 6 NEEDVILLE 4/LADY FALCONS WIN STATE!!!

Just saw where the needville catcher cleaned out two runners crossing home plate without the ball. Dirty as hell. Congrats to HH on the championship, but even more so on keeping their composure. I gotta be honest, the second time it happened, I would've cleaned her clock.
